rotten day, i had hoped to maybe get out of work in an hour and a half or maybe two, well 4.5 hours was what i spent..really screwed up the whole day, just nothing went right at work or since.......i'm just in a foul rotten mood and can't seem to snap out of it.......i need a long vacation but as busy as we are it doesn't seem like that will help.......i just need to get away for a while and de-stress........plus winter is a downer for me anyhow.....the older i get the less tolerance i seem to have for it......i want it gone......i want to feel warm breezes.....i want to take a walk on mowed grass with a bag of clubs on my back.......heck i won't care how bad i played as long as i could play golf.....well that's not really true...i would care how i play.......

Friday, January 30, 2004

hectic day but our weather was okay, but a small burg maybe 30 miles to the south has gotten about 6 feet of snow in the last 48 hours, no that's not a typo......72" of snow in the last 48 hours.....we've been lucky so far this winter and the greatest snow fall we've had at one time was maybe 18"......any way crazy day and i've got a container to load tomorrow AM, and some ordering to plan so probably will end up working a half day, and things will get worse before they get better, we are so swamped with orders ( which is a good thing) that starting next week production will be running 24/7 for at least the next two or three months.....which means that i will probably not only have to make a short appearance on saturday but sunday as well......seems sometimes all i do is work, eat, blog/surf and sleep as it is...i'm a little bent about having to work tomoorow as i had some things planned but until i can kick the bad habit of eating work i must......

Thursday, January 29, 2004

was actually a very nice winter day today ( other then the fact that nice and winter really don't go together in my thinking).....sunny and quite mild.....but just below us in the snow belt that got hammered, one of the little towns got about a foot of snow in a hours time......and the main route up from syracuse was closed most of the day which really messed up my schedule....everything was running late....a real mess...not that it matters to me but senator h clinton will be in town tomorrow as part of a tribute to the 10th mountain division......should make a mess of traffic in town...but the otherside.......ended up the day with a headache of great intensity but feel much better now.....off to bed....night all

a bit warmer today but some snow, not really alot but enough that when they plowed i got briefly stuck trying to get in the drive without clearing the snow, although i really like my present car it's a little lower slung that most i've had and does get hung up a little easier, the load i had today got delayed because of foul weather below us, and then i got a driver who didn't speak or understand much english.....really frustrating.....took for ever to explain even the most simple thing....so the load took far longer then it should have....have a busy day both tomorrow and friday....am very tired tonight....and will call it quits early....

Tuesday, January 27, 2004

still fairly cold but got a couple of inches of fresh snow this afternoon, just enough to make things quite slippery......good rehearsal tonight....but am tired and need to get going and get to bed as we may get more of the white stuff over night and may have to clean out the drive.....have started to recoup some of my losses at blogshares.....when the problem was repaired the stocks that disappeared from me , re=appeared on the common market.....and much of what i bought today was what i had lost.....oh well....not a big deal......night all

Monday, January 26, 2004

another cold day today -17*F this morning, busy day at work but got basically everything done, and tomorrow shouldn't be too bad as a load got move out because some needed parts aren't in yet....have just taken it easy tonight, still have the cold but am feeling a lot better.......off to surf......

'Captain Kangaroo' Was Friend To Generations of Youngsters (washingtonpost.com)
a passinng of a legend....i remember watching captin kangaroo as a kid....in the 50's.......and still enjoying some of the humor in my teens when my younger brother watched it......RIP Captain......
am feeling better this afternoon then this morning....worked briefly....came home took some cold medicine and the decided that part of my problem was just a good old case of cabin fever, i've been basically doing the work/veg at home routine for the last couple of weeks and just haven't gone out....headed to the mall and spent sometimes in dick's sporting goods looking at golf equipment....yah i know i can't play for months but it checking things out helps remind me of better times ( well maybe better is too strong but warmer to be sure)....well they have two wedges there in lofts i don't have ....a 54* (which i could see myself using from time to time) and a 58* (which i probably would never use).....and have several of each.....at about $60 a pop (US).......will probably buy both at sometime in the future but to day was about getting out not spending money.....stopped and got takeout for lunch and have spent the rest of the day in....but feel alot better, cold is really about the same but feel better anyhow.....will probably make an early night of it.....oh i forgot to mention i got "bugged" at blogshares.....apparently a glitch ate about 60% of my net worth and all my stocks....and to boot forget who i was....well some of the damage has been repaired...but hey _____happens......Still a good game and i've met some interesting people thru it.......night all

Friday, January 23, 2004

well the cold( as in temperature) has finally broken me down and i'm coming done with a beaut of a cold ( as in trollie feels ucky)......need to make an appearance at work tomorrow but only for an hour or so and then i intend to crash for the rest of the day...i spent way to much time today in the warehouse and really got a chill which has resulted in the sneezes and stifles today....need sleep.... night all

Thursday, January 22, 2004

it was bright and cold most of the day except for a couple of hours this morning when it snowed like crazy, we got 3 or 4 inches of snow in a real hurry, near white out conditions....very windy at times the rest of the day so at times the fresh snow was blowing and again visibility was limited.....felt unwell this morning but better as the day progressed....am watching "you only live twice" on the tube tonight, probably my favorite of all the bonds....

Wednesday, January 21, 2004

bad trollie....bad bad trollie....i didn't post yesterday.....but by the time the rehearsal was over last night i felt both unwell and just not in the mood to do anything.....like think up some trite things to post when much of what i'd like to write sometimes is the last thing that i would ever put in a place where it at least in theory can be see by everyone...too many people from my "real life" ( ok maybe that's a stretch....but believe it or not i do have one) know of the existence of this and there would be complications if i really vented......most times i can think of other things to say but last night i was too....well just leave it at that.....
it's cold again.....as i drove home tonight at about 4:30 according to the radio weather it was -19*F......and the sunny was shining and despite the cold was a lovely evening...have vegged tonight.....looks busy the next few days but then it's month end week....yah i know there's better then a week left but this is the year that we adjust things out and add a week so until year end everything will be a little out of kilter.....
i've re-read what i've written so far and feel like i'm just waffling on tonight...well it happens....deal with it.......

Monday, January 19, 2004

nice day actually,,,,seasonable as far as temp and a bit of snow, but i guess they got a fair amount of the white stuff below us.....had a driver come in about 3 hours late do to the snow and a problem with his unload so it was passed 6 by the time i got home, and am very tired....slept poorly last night so will call it an early night i think tonight....if things pan out the rest of the week i may take a vacation day.....actually today was a holiday in the US but not one that is normally taken by factories and the like.....mostly a bank/school holiday......martin luther king day.......anyhow.....i think i'll surf for a while.....

Sunday, January 18, 2004

i find funny how depending on what you are used to, your perception of a change is relative, now if we were in the middle of the summer, or even early fall and we had a day that the temp was in the high 20's or low 30's F we would think that to be quite cold, however if it occurs as it did today after a run of days that were all below 0*F it actually feels quite warm, spring like if you will.....totally nuts.....but then most of life is subject to what is relative to the norm...quiet day....watched a little football....a little tube.....just relaxed....it's way past my bed time but am not really tired yet.....but need to think about calling it a night...i think i'm in for a heavy day tomorrow......

Saturday, January 17, 2004

i really hate working saturdays, with my schedule as it is saturday is the one day i get to sleep in, but ah well...the outbound was there aright at 8 but i had a couple of other problems to deal with so when all was said and done i got out of there at noon, and the thing that rankles is that it was for straight time because i had taken a 1/2 day vacation earlier in the week, well no good deed ever goes unpunished, it was considerably warmer today....if mid teens F can really be called warm....but i certainly was a relief....i've lived my whole life in cold winter climes so the teens and 20's i handle with ease, but as i get older the sub-zero stuff is hard to take...have basically vegged today, watched a little college hoops and finished the elizabeth r series.....but am pretty tired....cold really tires me out and i've been in and out all week so it's taken it's toll......have only plat BS limited today....had thought about playing aggressively today but have decided to wait until tomorrow, did make one decent pickup though....aggie sue the cat is wandering around crying her " i'm lonely if someone doesn't cuddle me quick i'll die" cry so since it's too cold to dig a hole tonight i think i'll say good night and save my care from loneliness

Friday, January 16, 2004

it's warmed up abit this evening, mind you its still just in the low teens F but considering the sub zero temps of the last few days it feels strangely warm......sunday and monday is supposed to be in the high 20's F and that will no doubt feel like a heat wave, i'll have to break out my shorts and tank tops....(just kidding)........busy and frustrating day but got everything more or else done....and have one load tomorrow....hopefully will come in early enough so i only have to work a half day......watched the 5th installment of the Queen E series tonight....always i think my favorite of the six.....may just end there and skip watching the 6th which is my least favorite....have not played blogshares tonight...have decided to let a day pass, get all my artefacts active and the make a judgement on how best to play the stocks that i control.....have been "whiming it" a bit much and need to re-avaluate my tactics....maybe try a twist on an old theme.....have added a new webring....reality echos....link is down toward the bottom....it's brand new so probably not large as of yet but it's friend nicky's creation....so.....need to sit down and do some work on the blod one of these days....have really not altered anything in a long while and must look to giving it a face lift and if not that at least a good cleaning...have not felt in top form tonight so think that i might retire early......nite all

Thursday, January 15, 2004

another bitter cold day here in natures deep freeze, murphy was an optimist......this day was a disaster and the next two are looking even worse....now have an outbound scheduled for saturday so there goes my quick appearance and out....probably will end up having to work a half day or better (or is the worse).......watched another part of the queen lizzy series tonight, and have played so blogshares.....have been a bit more aggressive lately.....that will pass but since the restart fewer people are playing and until the level of activity picks up a more passive approach will not work...i'm tired and head between the sheets,,,night all

Wednesday, January 14, 2004

it was -31*F this morning at the weather station at the local airport, pardon my skepticism but it's days like to day that i have difficulty accepting the idea of global warming......and it's supposed to be cold thru sunday......tomorrow could be an interesting day....we are loading a load of small plot irrigation kits for Malawi on friday but tomorrow some people from the are are loading used office/medical equipment and donated medical supplies on the front half of the container....and it promises to be another sub-zero day....although the work will be done by volunteers i was asked to attend to help make sure the load was loaded so it would ride ( ride in the context of trucking basically means loading so it gets there in one piece).......and it's going to be another cold one.....should be lots of fun.......anyhow it's a good cause and i hope everything goes smoothly......will report tomorrow evening provided i've thawed out enough to type/think....am tired and headed for bed....nite all......

Tuesday, January 13, 2004

i've come to the conclusion that i actually end up more tired at the end of a day when i've done almost nothing physical as opposed to the day when i work hard physically...i spent most of the day at my desk doing paper work....well of course none of it is on paper anymore.....just a artful arrangement of 0's and 1's on a screen but i still think of it as paper work....several problems to solve and the seemed to come in flocks....not one at a time but i big bunches....also had a load that had a problem and had to go back in to take care of it.....long day and i've had it....

Monday, January 12, 2004

took the afternoon off....first chance i've had in a long tome to do that, and besides felt unwell today, not sick really, just not well, slept fitfully last night, some very weird dreams, don ask because as usual i forget them almost instantly but the feeling of very strange continues......also woke up in a little ball this morning, which is a way i almost never sleep.....but figured it out real quick.....i had all 3 cats sleeping with me and they had apparently managed to crowd me almost out of the bed.....dang little fur balls.....have begun to re-watch the Elizabeth R series again, i do that about once a year.....or so....have the complete set on vcr tapes....also have the henry the 8th which i rarely watch but really like the Lizzie series........am off to play blogshares.....and no it wasn't because blogger was down that i didn't post last night....frankly i just didn't feel like taking the time.....that's the first time since i started this stupid blog thing well over a year ago that i just didn't care......
CBS
interesting, the next survivor is an "all-star" cast, some of the more interesting characters from the first 7 series.....jerri and rupert on the same island.....the mind boggles........

Saturday, January 10, 2004

another very cold day here in the northcountry.....worked briefly this AM and have just lazed about the rest of the day....just too cold to do anything outside....as i get old i've lost what little tolerance i ever had for the cold....and every year swear that i'm moving south....of course i probably never will...my love of this area in the spring through summer months keeps me here even in the winter....that and a job.....
i just seem to be a little out of sorts tonight....just can't seem to concentrate on anything for very long.....and i'm trying to come up with something witty to write and can only get about half way there.........

Friday, January 9, 2004

Fostoria Portable Electric Salamander Heat Wave Space Heater while not exactly like the one used a salamander was the only thing that kept me from freezing my hinder portions off today, furnace at work just wasn't cutting it, of course it was about -14*F this AM and never really warmed up much....i really don't like salamanders as they are very noisy but it sure beats freezing

Thursday, January 8, 2004

it was -5*F when i woke this morning and really didn't warm up all day, and of course murphy's law being in full force this was the day that the heater in the shipping room chose to be on the fritz, and the average temperature in my work room was about 45* all day.....lovely.......hopefully it will get fixed by early tomorrow because it's going to get even colder tonight and another day in a "meat cooler" will be more then these old bones can stand, i took a hot bath one i got home but still am not comfortably warm....will take another before bed and then bundle up.....living in a cold weather climate is starting to lose it's charm with me......and we've got at least another 3 months of this crap to go before spring......

Wednesday, January 7, 2004

not a bad day weatherwise....on the cold side but no new snow.....i'm tired tonight....was a weird day....should have been an easy day....but just couldn't seem to get a straight shot at it......missed one job that will put me behind for tomorrow....quiet night....just hanging out.....may do some surfing later and catch up on my blog readings....

Tuesday, January 6, 2004

well we didn't get any snow yesterday, but today made up for it in a hurry, between mid-morning and mid-afternoon we got probably 7-10" of snow, near white out conditions, what a treat, a driver who was coming to pick up a load left the 'cuse ( about an hour's drive under normal conditions) about 11:45 AM, and got to me about 2:50 PM....do the math.....i guess there were cars off the interstate all over.....when he got here it was snowing like crazy.....i had to take him to the other house to finish the load and visibility was maybe 100'.....now that warehouse is a tomb, no windows, when i left an hour later the some was shining....and it was turning quite cold......did i ever say how much i like the weather here in the winter.....and i never will.......time to hit the sheets....night all

Monday, January 5, 2004

i hate mondays......particularly when they follow long weekends.....was on a dead run all day and seems like i got nuthin' done........onlt got a bit of snow overnight....woke up just before the alarm went off looked out and crawled back into bed when i saw little snow.....but didn't get back to sleep as one of the cats was lonely and insisted on cuddling....really have nothing to say tonight....so will quit now.......

Sunday, January 4, 2004

well here we go again, according to the weather report we could get 8-10" of snow before morning, hasn't started yet but they just might be right so will set the alarm a little early for tomorrow just in case....first day back to work and i really am not looking forward to it.....now there's a shocker....anyhow.......need to get cracking....have basically vegged this afternoon and evening....half watched some football(american style) but really wasn't into the games...have watched almost none this season so really am not up on the teams playing....actually have watched more rugby ( i.e. the world cup) then i have american football.....but the college basketball season is upon us and that i watch fairly closely....being that the defending ncaa champs are just an hour down the road....and my daughter attended SU to boot......need to get ready for bed...night all

Saturday, January 3, 2004

strange weather continues, it was in the mid 50'sF today....man you got to be kidding....many years the first couple of weeks of January are the coldest of the year with temps in excess of -25*F ...what really is worrisome is that this means that the lake has not cooled off much which offers the potenial for some massive lake effect snow storms....some body along the lee of lake ontario is going to get hammered eventually.....just hope it ain't us....anyhow i feel pretty good tonight considering the fact that my arthritis is flaring a little....but not as bad as last night....which was a shocker...i thought i might have trouble sleeping but had the best night sleep i've had in months...taggie seems to be on the fritz.....ah well night all

Friday, January 2, 2004

what a weird day weather wise, but then it's early winter here in the northcountry so maybe it's was really a typical day....at no other time of the year is the weather quite this much like a yo-yo. it was high 20's F and snowing this morning, then it warmed to low 40's and rain and then got really overcast, and foggy/misty....although it had more the character of a shroud, in any case my arthritis is going nuts tonight, i will probably have a difficult time sleeping merely because i will find it impossible to find a comfortable position in which to fall asleep, despite the fact that i'm quite tired, have stayed the last couple of nights...just vegged and played PC games today.....did run some errands....and got some figs...i'm a fig pig...i always buy a small amount because i will eat the whole bag at one sitting regardless of size...or type of fig for that matter...actually i don't buy them often....just once in a while as a special treat....but they are easy to find this time of year and are usually fresh because they are used in many of the traditional holiday cookies...off to eat figs.....
well i didn't post yesterday. not for lack of trying, but was the caused by a litlle procrastination on my part, waited until late in the day and then couldn't get on blogger....apparently they were having a problem....i actually stayed up until 2004 on new year's eve but it had nothing to do with the day....got involved with something on blogshares...we had basically a green christmas...a few piles of dirty snow that hadn't melted....so i wake up this morning to a dusting of snow....i'm sure more is on the way but so far this is or has been a very "open" winter.....i'm not sure that's a universally used term or just a locally-ism for a winter with little snow...not a good thing if it gets real cold because the plants don't have a blank of snow that acts as an insulator and many of the perennials in my garden will have their little rots frozen and not come back in the spring....much as i hate it i hope we get a base of about a foot to 18"...then everything should weather the winter ok....
