(+35*F)
( Youtube mix)
I'm listening this morn to a very eclectic mix on Youtube, a little gospel, a dash of rock & roll, some classical, and a hint of flash mob and a dab of liturgical.....just lovely....
It had been my firm intention to walk this AM, well just about now......but then I checked the forecast and realized that if I waited until the afternoon, the temperature would be in the mid 40s......now if you've read this slag heap I laughingly call a blog, you know I've walked when it was much colder, but I've had my fill of winter, getting all bundled up, and still freezing my nose...I'm seriously looking for a tiny knit cap for my nose......but seriously I'm had enough of winter
Poker site is still offline.....and although I'm not one to jump to conclusions.....I may spend some time while surfing today looking for a new place to play......not a for cash site.....but just a site where I can play a few hands (okay.okay.....several hands) and relax without having to mortgage my first born.....who undoubtedly would be pissed at me....afterall she is 40.....and I don't even want to think about her hubby's opinion.....

( a "Bones" rerun)
Awoke to very stiff knees, but with the temperature being in the mid-40s, and 97% relative humidity, not a big surprise..but loosened up and decided to take a walk...
Now I have enough hoodies in light to heavy.......in point of fact probably enough hoodies to outfit the average street gang...but I didn't have a light windbreaker..so decided to go to a local thrifty store and then stop to pick up some nuts and M&Ms for my gorp......
Found a nice vest type windbreaker for a great price, and while kicking around the local Dollar General I saw a vegetable peeler.....now I got some really great 2 year old aged English Cheddar, and I've been trying to shave it with a kitchen knife....now while it's great cheese it's an ultimate definition for crumbly.....so I picked up a peeler with an arch and a blade that pins on both ends of the blade....and it works great....problem solved....
Not sure way but the poker site I've been playing online lately has been offline for over 20 hours at this point....no idea why.....

( MASH reruns)
I had not intended to walk today, didn't think I had a reason, but last night I was checking my food stuffs and lo and behold my salad greens were more salad browns then greens...was a beautiful day and may have walked even without a reason......been mid 40s all day.....and it was nice for a change to be able to walk without having to get all bundled up....just a light tee and one of my lighter hoodies....

(Beethoven: "Christ on the Mount of Olives"
It's a very misty morning ( come to  think of that I think there might be an exotic dancer with that name)...but I digress...awoke late for me just after 9AM....which is late for me but had the best night's sleep in weeks.....needed to get my meds so walked about 9:30, got to the pharmacy and in the 15 minutes I needed to wait ran up to T.J. Maxx, and got a grinder of pink sea salt...picked up my meds..decided to walk to the ATM..I paid for my meds with "pocket money"....and I usually pay my meds from another account to replace the money "in pocket".....but since Aldi is right across the street from the back, stopped by and picked up a few things......
I really love being behind people shopping who act like their the only ones in the store (the sarcasm warning lamp is light)......I've been thinking that maybe I could install a cattle prod on my cane....or maybe just bring a hand held fog horn....I'll have to give it more thought....

(7:45 AM UTC-4)
(37*F)
(Haydn: "Lord Nelson Mass")
The weather site I use is predicting light rain for today...the prediction is only for 2/10 of an inch.....no big deal I agree......I've done some research and a rule of thumb is 1" of rain equals 10" of snow......but I've seen numbers as well that the ratio of snow to rain is 25 to 1.....I grew up in a rural area and the farmers always held to the adage: "an inch of rain is equal to a foot of snow"....but all of this is for me today mote....I'm just glad it ain't snow.....on the other had depending on walking conditions......I'll walk when light snow is falling sometimes, but not light rain......but with this winter.....I'm glad it ain't snow.....
I have mentioned before that I've been playing on an online poker site.....and unlike most game sites....no ads....no play for play.....and the pragmatist in me is how are they paying the bills....now I've noticed an increase in spam which started about the same time I started to play the game.......and spam of a a particular type.....lets just call it offering me private pics of "ladies" I've never met........of course if they post the link online I doubt it's very private..or do they mean pics of their "privates".....Hmmmm......now I know better not to open any spam......but me think that the site maybe be selling email accounts of the players.....

(a Hornblower episode)
Just got done watching Star Wars episode VII....(TNT showed it).....I wasn't disappointed because frankly I wasn't expecting much.....and it basically delivered what I expected....I'd rate I &IV..good....III & V....dogs..and the other 3 fair at best......all are two predictable, and I thru III and VII are more about special effects then any interesting plots....
Nice day for my walk today.....It's ridiculous but after the cold of winter mid 40s seems strangely warm......
(8:15 AM UTC-4)
(+24*F...w/wind chill +20*)
(Handel: complete "Te Deum")
It was my original intention to walk about 9AM this morning, a shopping trip over to Aldi, but after checking the forecast I discovered that if I wait until noonish the temperature should be in the mid 40s....now I've walked on days that were considerably colder then what it is right now......but my mommy didn't raise any fools....so will delay my quest for food until later.......after checking the forecast for the coming week looks like highs in the mid 40s all week...now I don't want to jump the gun, check that, I'd really like to jump the gun and say that Spring is about to sprung.....but I've lived up in the Northcountry way too long to be optimistic about when spring weather will appear.....now I have seen some of the early signs of spring....geese and the flying rats (aka:seagulls).....I remember years ago playing my first round of golf one year on the last weekend of March.....but then I also remember 15" of snow on mother's day.....but then up here sometimes April Showers come down in frozen form....

(Faure:"Requiem")
The Faure is appropriate, because I'm up way past my bedtime, and I'm dead tired, I stayed up to collect a bonus that dropped just after 11PM, and decided to play a few hands, and after searching all day for the right table, found one, and got on the best "roll" I've had in days.....but just got to tired to continue...nuts......I find a good table......was on a good run of cards....and my 70 year old body says enough already...
The Faure is one of my all time fav pieces in the liturgical literature for choir, I got to sing it twice with the local choral society.....not a particularly difficult tenor part, but has some beautiful parts in it.....
This could be an interesting night, the body demands rest, but the mind is like a whirling dervish....let the battle begin....

(Best of Wagner)
Been an interesting day.....actually walked 3 different times...first finally the snow banks have abated enough that my "shortcuts" are now passable....went to the ATM for "pocket" money...later to the dollar store.....was nearly out of both of the juices I like.....a veggie juice, and a grapefruit juice......store brands....and a great price.....and later to get a fresh can of "dip".....(aka: chew).....I know it's a filthy habit...et cetera..ad infinitum.....picked it up the habit when I was working machine maintenance in a factory.....and that was 40+ years ago....but then I'm in the process of kicking another bad habit...tomorrow will be 5 months sober.....so one never knows.....
I got another "friend request" on facebook today......from a very nice looking "lady"....her profile shows no friends.....and I don't know her from Eve.....another denial....apparently it's some kind
of a scam.....but as an aside did you know that "denial" is a river in Egypt...(rimshot)...
Really wanted to play some poker on the online site I play at.....not a cash game.....just "game money"....but couldn't find a compatible table....either they were playing "russian roulette" poker, everybody goes all in preflop....another where even a minimum bet and the rest of the table would fold......oy vey......may try later......

( a "Lord Peter Wimsey" episode)
It was my original intend to stay in my rooms today and walk tomorrow.....a tad of shopping....but it's predicted that it's going to be a bit colder tomorrow.....so I may change my plans...
Now I have 3 separate email accounts........an older one that I use when surfing.....the 2nd when I had difficulty logging on to the first....and a 3rd that I use for an idea I had that really didn't amount to anything.....but I've notices over the last week or so that I've been receiving a "flock" of spam on my original email account.....spam of a particular type........from "ladies" I don't know, suggesting things that I'm really not interested anymore......not that I've opened any of them.....but I'm curious as to why......I've only added 1 game to my saves, and I have a sneaky suspicion that that might be the source........

(+32*F.....w/wind chill +27*F)
( Bach: "Mass in B minor)
Took a short walk today....was a nice sunny day...about the same temperature........as yesterday......but just a light wind......so felt warmer.....the actual temperature notwithstanding...for example a 50*F day after winter temperatures in the 0*F range....seems warm.......but that same 50*F after a run of 80*F+ days seems cold.....how we relate to weather is after all relative....years ago one of the guys I worked with was a refugee from Vietnam..for the first few winters   when he was outside he was so bundled up that all you could see was his nose, and it was bright red....after a few years he ran around dressed like a local......your body tends to adjust to the most common extreme......I used to work outside in -40*F weather and although I dressed for.....it was no big deal.....but give me 2 or 3 days in a row of +80*F weather w/ 90%+ humidity.....and I honestly believe I might be melting.....all I want is to sit in an airconditioned room..and drink iced tea......

(Beethoven: "Christ on the Mount of Olives"
My plan from yesterday was to walk this morning  over to Aldi, to pick up a few things, but the relative cold ( dang north wind..again ), and the fact that I awoke with a stiff right foot......has caused a change of plans.....according to the forecast the temperature will be over the freezing mark late afternoon or early evening.......and the stiffness is loosing up quite a bit.....so looks like a later walk.....but really could honestly delay it until tomorrow or even Friday......so not a bog deal one way or the other.....
I gotta call yesterday while I was out, and the lady at the desk told me my sis had called, so tried to call her back, and got her hubby...(as an aside their 50th anniversary is coming up this June)..but anywho...she was out......so I talked last her last night....and she hadn't called me.....no the less we talked for a bit.....they were just back from a visit to their son and his family......
So it remains who called, and I eliminated all the possibilities I could think of.....so I asked the desk lady.....but she had no more information.....my current hypothesis is the the desk lady and my sis are in cahoots with each other to gaslight me ( sorry just vernacular English this morning no Yiddish)

I've been  in the mood lately for gorp (aka: trail mix)......my formula is nuts, pumpkin seeds, dry fruit and M&Ms.....so I bought an apothecary jar holds a tad over a dry quart......should keep it relatively fresh....
I have finally reached my limit of frustration when it comes to plastic "silverware" ( i know an oxymoron ) so bought today some actually metal utensils, with plastic handles......the handles are a tad oversized, and they're easy for me and my essential tremors to handle, plus they don't break when you look at them cross eyed.......

Just a quiet day, other then I went and did something I haven't done for a long time, because of all the camping I've done and worked for years in shipping and receiving because of my training and experience  I rarely cut myself with a knife, but a kitchen knife slipped while I was preparing a meal, and I barely nicked one of my fingers.....didn't bleed hardly at all, but because of my essential tremors the probability of that occurring has probably increased a little......nuts.....

( a youtube mix)
I awoke just after 7 AM, wanted to walk, needed some juice which I only buy at Dollar General....their store brand is just as good and cheaper than anywhere else, plus they have 2 flavors I can't find at a competitive price.....checked the weather and......and the temperature was +3*F.........waited a few hours and it had warmed up to a balmy 18*F...but no wind therefore no wind chill...( dang I forgot to light the sarcasm warning sign)....but it really was quite tolerable...and I nice walk....

( The Best of Holst )
Dang wind out of the north, geographically speaking it's coming off Hudson Bay.....which is part of the Arctic Ocean..Brrrrrrr....
Despite the nippy weather, took a walk, first to  the convenience store and was headed for Aldi and look in my pocket...no quarter....you place a quarter in a slot to free your cart, and get one back when you put the cart away, saves the store from paying someone to collect carts left in  the parking lot, so took a quick detour back to my  lodgings to get a quarter.....got a quarter....which at that point I remember that I had a while back secreted a quarter in my wallet for just such a situation, so I'm walking through the parking lot now with 2 quarters and a woman was just finishing loading her "soccer mom van"...and I offered to buy the shopping cart for a quarter.....to which she replied....no just take it.......when I was done I gave it to a nice lady and told her to just "pass it on"......of all the things I've lost or mislaid in my 70 years I miss my  mind the most.........technically I didn't lose my marbles, I gave them to my bro who is 10 years younger...so I have no idea where they are.....oy vey.....
In my defense I did stay up past midnight watching Syracuse University win their basketball game in the NCAA tournament.....right now I cannot decided whether to watch some TV, get something to eat, or take a nap......

(episode of "Sherlock Holmes")
To my great surprise except for a couple of spots the sidewalks were clear and I was able to walk yesterday, twice actually, had intended to sit down and post after my early evening walk, but was "dead" tired, and decided to take the rest of the evening in quiet rest....
Have come to the conclusion that I am going to change my main market from Price Chopper to Aldi......except for the house made breads and a few other item that Aldi doesn't carry, Price Chopper has a much better selection of condiments.....but the two main reasons for the change are the prices, and the length of the walk..the Price Chopper is a fair piece from my lodgings...and Aldi is right across the street but I from time to time I do walk in that direction to a local convenience store, so I may drop in to Price Chopper when I need to.....my pharmacy is located there....another plus is my bank is in the same direction......
Have been looking for an online free poker site, thought I had found a good one and played quite a bit today....however I find the layout a tad complicated, and requires quick, accurate mouse work, and I find it difficult considering my essential tremors.....so have removed it from my game list and the search goes on........

I wish you all a Happy Pi-day, I realize it's irrational but there it is....my nephew and this bride, both geeks with masters degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, were married on Pi-Day and picked the date deliberately.....So to Nate & Karen....Happy Anniversary......
It's still snowing but just very lightly...I doubt that over the last few days we've got more then a couple of inches of snow, but we are on the western age of the storm, a Nor'Easter coming up the east coast....
It's been a quite few days.....and with even the little amount of snow we've gotten, it's too much snow for this gippy old man to brave the conditions......

("Gaudy Night")
One of my dear old dad's sayings, and he had a bucket full of them, was "If you don't have it in your head, you have to have it in your feet".....when I went shopping this morning I checked everything but 2 things....1) the weather forecast for the next few days: and 2) How much salad greens I had left and their condition....so as I went about fixing my evening meal. my salad greens were pretty much gone, both in quantity and quality.....so checked the weather forecast and discovered from overnight tonight to Thursday AM we are under yet another winter snow advisory....with up to 14" of snow predicted, the bulk of it will probably fall on Tug Hill to the south and the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains to the east, but then a slight shift of the wind.......and you never know....so off I went again, a bag of salad greens, a small boule, and a chocolate cherry ice cream sundae......In my defense the sundae was marked down on the value card....
(11:16 AM UTC-4)
(+33*F.....w?wind chill +27*F)
(Brahms "a German Requiem")
Just back from my morning walk....out to Price Chopper.....and on the way  back Aldi.....a little brisk this morning but didn't have a problem with my back.....in the final analysis I think the problem was just being a little out of "walking shape"
Now because of the fact that I live in a hotel, I have limited appliances for cooking...if a microwave, a coffee maker, and a small food processor can actually be called appliances....but have discovered creative ways to cook despite the limitations
Which leads me to today's experiment in microwave cooking.....now let's first establish the fact that I love bacon......now there is a product on the market called "microwave bacon" a tad pricey as compared to regular bacon....but done in seconds....but really substandard in both taste and mouth feel.....so.....went googling the other day and lo and behold found instructions on how to microwave real bacon.....in a minute per slice.....so on my walk this morning picked up a pound of good bacon.....and after a tad of fiddling with the time.....not quite like fried, but quite acceptably...with a hard boiled egg (store bought), a plum, and a yogurt a very nice first meal....now it's off to google to see if I can find how to hard boil an egg in a microwave or a coffee maker.....film @11
Just back from google, hard and soft boiled egg instructional video in a coffee maker......now the problem is transporting a cartoon of eggs in my sling bag with out having the yoke on me...

("Hellfighters")
Been a quiet day except that I decided to go shopping...but need to go up to the ATM for some "pocket money".....I guess I could use my debit card but would rather pay cash except for a high ticket item......but with the snow banks rather then the trip to the ATM being just up the hill, had to take the long way around, and although it was really that cold, and I dressed for it, I caught the proverbial "chill"...and decided to fore go the shopping....
Had last night the best night sleep I've had in months....went to bed just after 11PM and just before set the clock 1 hour ahead for day light savings time.....and slept right through to just after 7AM......normal 2 or 3 hours at a time is just about the best I can expect......but slept last night like the proverbial log.....
The NCAA's are about to start and although I didn't attend any of the colleges in the tournament.....but since SU is only 70 miles away and my daughter is an alum.....will probably follow the tournament.....
I haven't posted to "Random Thoughts" for 2 weeks.....but then nobody on face book has posted anything that ticked me off bad enough to respond....I never respond on face book for two basic reasons....most of my responses are too long IMHO to post there, and 2 as admin of my blogs I control the comments......not for opinions but to avoid flame wars.....

(+29*F......+20*F w/wind chill.....light snow)
("Gaudy Night")
Snow should abate by noon, and we should have according to the forecasters four or five days of relatively clear weather but not very warm, mid 30s for the daytime highs....so it may be a couple of days before  the sidewalks are clear...I wanted to walk today but rather not face icy sidewalks.....and walking in one of the busiest streets during the mad dash of shoppers in their SUVs.....not to mention the Amish buggies...isn't my idea of a nice, enjoyable, calm walk...the only thing I'm out of is bananas........and I'm not that despite.......besides I haven't got delivery for weeks and it may be a good excuse to order a fried fish dinner......which I have a hankerin' for....
HBO2 is showing starting at 9:30 AM.....back to back all ten episodes of "Westworld"....they did that awhile back, and I binged...today I think I might just pick and choose......but there's no guarantee that I won't get caught with it and sucked down the rabbit hole....

This has been a crazy day...awoke at 6AM ( which is about an hour or two hours earlier that usual).....but was wide wake so got up....and logged on to the internet.....and about 11AM I lost my internet connection....every indication was I was connected but wasn't...was off until just a few minutes ago.....but the same thing happened a few weeks ago......have to check in the morning to see what actually happened......but have no control over the provider as  it comes with my rooms.....

(2:51 PM UTC-5)
(+29*F...w/wind chill +20*F)
( Best of Telemann)
Got a little snow overnight and it's snowing now very lightly...now because I needed a new pair of shoes, and the shoe stores are really even in the best of weather out of my "walking range"... I had asked my sis if she would drive me.....and as she and her hubby are leaving for the west-coast on Sunday to visit her son and his family.....she called about noon to see if I could go today.....which we did...
Now the old pair of my "summer shoes" had seen better days....they were 4 years old and the worst for wear....but the purchase of shoes brings up something about aging I was unaware up until a few years ago.....that being among other things falling arches.....I wore a normal width shoe in either size 9 & 1/2 or 10..depending on what they were for....with this pair of shoes I'm now a size 12 wide....oy gavalt.....of course at the same time I've compacted from just under 5'8" to 5"5"......If the size gets any bigger, I'm going to look like I'm wearing clown shoes...but there  are some that might say that, that would be just about right considering my personality..
After playing around with the pages I've added to my poetry blog......I've discovered one major draw back.......which is I have no control over the layout.....it's identical to the main page...which is fine for how I'm using them in that case...However if I do start writing short stories.....adding a page here for the afore mentioned stories.....doesn't strike me as the best option........besides I could start another blog for the stories, and make it private until I decided to publish it.....

Where I live the time zone is EST (eastern standard time) which is UTC-5, but in keeping with tradition (by law but the date does vary) we switch over to EDST (day light savings time)....Early Sunday morning we will add an hour to the time......at 2AM EST on Sunday the clocks are to be set ahead to 3AM EDST.....there is an old adage "We Spring forward (add an hour) and Fall back ( remove the afore mentioned hour), but I didn't know the correct way to convert EDST to UTC....the page I found it would be UTC-4......but being lazy I'll either make the change before I retire for the night....or when I get up in the morning..assuming I remember..to get up that is...

(+36*F...+30*F w/wind chill)
( contemporary Christian medley )
Spent several hours doing a major overhaul to "Troll's Poetry Corner" it was getting cluttered but I didn't want to wholesale remove much of the content.....now I've know that there was the option to add pages to the blog...so I removed the Limericks and the Haiku from the main page and transferred them to their own pages....which makes more sense.....it did take me awhile because I've never used that option before, but I muddled through....and like the result.....
But it gave me a solution that I hadn't considered before....I've been toying with the idea of adding a 4th blog.....I've got some ideas of writing some fiction, short stories.....either syfy or political fiction.....and now that I've gone through the the process of setting up a page to an existing blog.....I think that at least initially if I ever decide to write some short stories I probably take the option of tacking a page so to speak here on "Troll54 Where are You?"
At one time I had a bunch of memes that disgraced this page, I have most of them saved, so that is another idea for adding a page to this blog......
But anyone who has read this blog, or any of my blogs know that I can't leave anything well enough alone for any length of time.....
(4:30 PM UTC-5)
(+40*F a partially sunny day)
( a "Hornblower" episode)
This being a Tuesday the morning festivities included making sure all joints were functioning, and the weekly visit from housekeeping.....and a check of the weather for the next few days, starting this evening the forecast through Friday evening calls for rain and/or snow....so decided to take my walk this AM.....and taking the same precautions I mentioned in a below post....the back behaved itself with little complaining....whether the application of the topical gel, and lengthened cane.....or that after the  restrictions of winter on my walking..I may be coming around to decent walking shape.....
I have always had a very good memory with two notable exceptions...I must have missed some basic principles of phonics.in grammar school, and I really can't spell a lick.....I've been known to misspell the same word 2 or 3 different ways in the same paragraph...and the factor in that I never took instruction in typing.....and also factor in that my essential tremors occasionally causes me to double type a letter or clip a letter that has no business being in the word I'm trying to type.....hence my love/hate relationship with spell check....
The second exception is I have a terrible memory when it comes to remembering names...but with the several 1000 people I've met through my life I'm not surprised......while sitting in the college cafeteria eating breakfast one morning I forgot the name of the young lady seated across from me who I had been "seeing" for several weeks......I eventually remember it before any damage was done....
What brought this weakness to this particular problem.....As I chatted with the housekeeper recounted a story about a lady that I had work related dealings with for several years, In fact when she told me that she was going to leave the company she was working for...I dropped her name to another person who worked in the same industry (long haul trucking).....and she ended up with a new job....but couldn't remember her name for the life of me....until about 4 hours later...oy vey....

( Hec Ramsey pilot)
Last year I really enjoyed the episode of the "Mega-race" on Motor Monday...and they were showing "Mega-Race 2"......so thought I'd watch it.....haven't been a fan lately of either "Fast and Loud" or "Street Outlaws"....but thought I'd watch....got through maybe 25 minutes and thought I was watching a show that was a combination of "The Three Stooges" and an episode of "The Jerry Springer Show".....neither of which were ever back in the day not anything I'd watch......so I've opted for a rerun on Youtube....and posting to my blog.....
I used to enjoy so called "Reality TV".....now I'm not very gullible, and I know that many have always been, "staged" and "scripted"....and those I avoid......but I do still  liked those that are competition based....."Iron Chef America".....and shows like that.....but even those sometimes are to some extent scripted....but too many of the newer reality shows are a little too staged for my liking....
Took a walk today...a short one......I've mentioned that my back has been bothering me a little on walks......wore my lighter shoes, adjust my cane to be a bit longer, and as a precaution rubbed my back with an topical analgesic before I walked and it was fine......I do think the problem is with the weather  and all, there have been times when I have walked for the better part of two weeks, and I'm just not in "walking shape" at the moment....
I as of late have watched an ever decreasing amount of shows on the "boob tube"..and have found many older TV shows on Youtube....and watch and or listen while I surf the web...

(Wagner Overtures)
I think that this weird winter has finally gotten the best of me......I hadn't slept well Saturday night.....an old Achilles Tendon strain decided to complain and I got little sleep..........sat down last night to write my daily entry here and just had nothing to say.....now that hasn't stopped me before I can talk for hours or write a long passage of prose when I have absolutely nothing  to say but I just make it up as I go along.....but last night it was ....forget this and went to bed and the best night's sleep I've had in ages......tendon is still stiff but just a "background level" of pain.......which I have over many years learned to live with.....

( an episode of "Lord Peter Wimsey")
While wandering rather aimlessly today around the internet in general and Youtube in particular, not really looking for anything in particular I "stumbled" upon an episode of "Sherlock Holmes"....which had originally aired on British TV and then several years ago on PBS......and with just a little digging found several episodes......and got to thinking if the "Lord Peter Wimsey" series (same origin, first British TV, then PBS) had also been up loaded....and have been happily watching from mid-afternoon until now....
I really think I might be loosing what little is left of my mind....I had a detailed shopping list..which I as is my habit...I left in my rooms.....probably got distracted by something.......so I thought that I'd got everything I had wanted.....while standing at the crosswalk waiting for the walk light....dang..forgot the horseradish....back down the hill to the market......found the horseradish....and as I was walking to the check out......double dang...bananas....I mean I forgot the bananas....One of my best skills has always been my ability to concentrate on the task at hand......but if I do get distracted and/or interrupted....I end up...with the same thoughts....."Where was I? What was I doing?.....and WHY??".....most of the snow was melted but as usual a couple of the sidewalks weren't shovel and icy.....there were spots I had to walk in the street...now walking in the busiest street in town, on a Saturday Afternoon is not my fondest dream...but I survived..

(+32*F.......+23*F w/windchill)
( a "Hornblower episode)
The storm that rolled up the east coast more or less missed us.....we got somewhere between a trace and a dusting......maybe 2" and that's giving it the benefit of the doubt...but I'm told it is a tad slippery.....and I'm hoping that the temperature will raise enough so the snow on the sidewalks will melt.....I'd really would like to walk....need a few things.......the most important being the walk itself....
I sit here today a tad frustrated....years back when singing with a contemporary gospel group we sang a worship song "Yes Lord".....well one of my musical gifts is that I hear harmony parts......in this particular case I heard a rocking bass vocal part......now I was (voice is gone).......high tenor by trade...or a 2nd soprano w/falsetto....but I also with the use of pedal tones could "fake" a bass part......a type know back in the days of early rock as an "idiot bass".......now there were those who would say that I faked the bass part.....but not the idiot part...that I came by naturally.....that not withstanding....I searched Youtube for the song....I found gospel, rock, spiritual, and even the song backed by a big band......but not one with the bass harmony part that I not only heard but sang many times.....now I can't believe I'm the only one who ever heard that harmony line.....so I'll keep on searching.....maybe like the group I sang in it was never recorded.......

(+30*F.......light snow)
("The Hound of the Baskervilles")
As I write this, I'm listening to the 1959 Hammer Films treatment of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic......starting Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee.....spellcheck didn't recognize "Baskervilles" and suggested that I meant "basketballs"........oy vey......
The storm that was predicted although it's hammering the east coast has more or less missed us.......we've gotten maybe 2" of snow....and with the predicted temperature tomorrow and Sunday it should all be melted, and forgotten........
I was grabbing some things for a salad from the fridge and all were in containers or bags closed with bag-clips.....save a small bag of radishes...which I managed to drop twice resulting in a jail break of radishes bouncing and rolling around my lodgings....so after the roundup of the rogue radishes what i didn't use I placed in a plastic container.......after my meal I went back to my computer table.....and heard a wee small voice coming from under my desk chair.......I had missed one of the rogue radishes....

(Beethoven: "Christ on the Mount of Olives)
According to the weather forecast snow starting as early tonight at 10PM through 10PM Friday night...with 5 to 10 inches of accumulation....but in the inventory crew I worked with if a certain count was an estimate, next to the count you'd see S.W.A.G.....which stood for Scientific Wild Ass Guess......and IMHO all weather forecasts should also be followed by S.W.A.G.
Because the weather tomorrow does not look conducive to a walk.....despite my low opinion of weather forecasts I decided to walk today....back was a little stiff this AM so tried a couple of new things.....changed to a lighter shoes...my "summer" shoes....rather then my "winter" shoes.......and applied so of my topical analgesic gel to my back before I walked, and the back was better, not perfect but tolerable.....with my age and relative physical condition I'm usually quite satisfied with tolerable...
When I got to the Aldi parking lot, I saw what has over the last several years a common sight around here, an Amish buggy with the horse tethered to one of the light poles.....there always has been a large Mennonite population in the area centered around the village of Lowville....but in recent years there has been established an Amish community to the west of Watertown.....and the sight of an Amish buggy traveling on the city streets doesn't cause any surprise...
Years ago when I was working and into sport.....at any given time between several differnt sports, hunting and work I had not 2 pairs of shoes but on average maybe 15 to 20 pairs.....was considering putting an addition on the house just to hold all the shoes and the equipment related to my varied interests.......I'm joking about it but at the time my significant other wasn't......an every time she had a garage sale, things that I was no longer using seemed to disappear....now I really did have a problem with it except I never saw any of the money...I guess that was price I had to pay for her putting up with me......cheap at twice the price......
