Walked three times today....first just after 08:00....got some peppers...Pablano,Italian, and cherry....I only ever had cherry peppers pickled or preserved....but the raw pepper has a pretty good kick to it....I like it but will use them with a light hand....also needed some Sambal....a different bland then I normally buy....decided to try it....besides it was 20 cent cheaper....if you've read this slag heap I call my blog before you are aware that I tend to frugal....sometimes to the extreme....
I mentioned last night that I had gotten some Romanian cave cheese at Aldi...decided to go back this afternoon and get another wedge and store it....some ted onions and a wedge of Manchego  cheese had never tried it but will consider adding it to my cheese inventory when available and a round of Queso Fresco....I love me some cheese....but I don't mean the typical sliced variety....I mean "good cheese".....
And basically just before I sat down to write this entry....just a walk for walk's sake....right before sunset....except it was totally overcast so it was more like the light was connected to a dimmer switch....
Have spent the rest of the day in my rooms....online as I usually do....still have a few things to finish for the day....and I stayed up later than is /usual for me....so will probably make this an early night [knock wood] night all....

Has been a quite pleasant day today....temperature in the mid-50's F, and during the day a nice breeze....that is if you are a lover of Fall weather like I am....got an earlier start to the day than /usual....not the best day of online Poker I've hand....butt not the worst day either....about 09:45 decided to take a walk over to Aldi to pickup enough food to  hold me to Saturday if the weather is as predicted....while picking up what I needed in the Aldi "fines" section found a cheese I've never had before...Romanian cave cheese....used some with my /usual egg white dish for second meal....quite nice....but the thing is that with "fines" when it's gone....it's gone....and may never be there again....if they still have some next time I there will pickup another wedge or two and store it....it was time for another visit to the ATM to pickup my "walking around money"....
Mid-afternoon....decided to take a walk....did stop at the convenience store.....so went out the back door  and used one of my short cuts....which once the snow flies will be impassable....but as I stepped outside there sitting on the back lawn was a small white tailed deer....really not that rare a sight in these parts....must have been a yearling....but I was concerned that he might be injured so approach very slowly....he got up and opened the distance between us but didn't run away....on the way back he was still there but this time he jumped in to a hedgerow....didn't get a really good look but I pretty sure it was a button buck....definitely a yearling....although I live on the western age of a small city....it's quite common to see all kinds of wildlife....a couple of years ago at dusk one night I saw in the same general area a red fox, and of course canada geese, squirrels, raccoons, and the occasion skunk....not to mention feral cats and dogs....and a vast assortment of birds....and of course the flying rats.....seagulls, crows, and pigeons....and the occasion hawk and turkey vulture....and come to think of it wild turkeys....in fact if you go west a few miles out of town to the "Perch River Preserve" there are bald eagles there as well....and more waterfowl than you could shake a stick at [link]....

It didn't rain as much today as predicted but I just checked the weather and if the current forecast holds true....will have to taken an inventory of my pantry and frig and walk both tomorrow and Monday for supplies....both days because there is a limit to what I can get in my sling bag....besides Aldi and Price Chopper are in opposite directions....probably Aldi tomorrow and then Price Chopper on Monday....but that's the advance plan....by Monday will probably have a better idea if there will be periods when it's not raining for those four days....probably will  be....but hopefully during daylight hours....now Price Chopper is open 24/7 except for 36 hours a year....the close early evening on Dec. 24th and re-open in the morning of the 26th....but my night vision is not what it once was....and in fact it never was very good....
Besides a brief walk this morning....I've been buying my granola bars at Ollie's and needed a package....only find that they were gone....they still have the fruit and grain bars but not the granola bars but there again that's Ollie's....when their gone....there gone....maybe never to return....will just have to put them on my list for Aldi....but stopped at Dollar General on the way back to my rooms [both stores are in the same plaza]....and got a jug of veggie juice....
The rest of the day has been spent as/usual....quietly and online....still have to put "Trollie's Game Room" to bed in an hour or so....checking on FB at "The Farthest Side" and check my email....apparently some site I visit has sold my email address again....not as bad as sometimes....a year or so ago....I was getting 40+ spam emails a day....oy vey....and then there's the friend request from a "sweet young thing" I don't know who's FB account was started with in the last couple of days....now I was in point of fact born in the morning.....but not this morning....I've been online since 1996 at home and before that at work....and remember the Nigerian Scam and went toe to toe with meowers  [also see Meow Wars]....I never open spam and never friend someone on FB I don't know....besides from modding the group....I know what to look for....I always go to their timeline and check their likes....

Then this afternoon decided after the end of the movie I was watching ended...."Underworld Evolution" not my usual type of flick but I have been know to watch a movie I'd normally not watch if there is a member of the cast I find....well....attractive....in this case....Kate Beckinsale....hey  I maybe 72 years old my next birthday....but I ain't dead yet....now where was I....what was I about to write....and why.....after the movie ended I decided to take a walk....needed to pickup a few things at Price Chopper....and while there decided to walk up to the other side of the plaza first to T J Maxx....got a bag of yucca chips....not only had never had them....but was unaware that there was such a thing....not bad....another bottle of a different spice I don'r have....usually just checkout the food aisles....but walk into the men's department....I carry when I shop a sling bag but I've been looking for a smaller one, to use when I'm just walking....just in case or to hold a water bottle....had though about a fanny pack but didn't find one I like....but found one in T J Maxx the right size and while you could probably use it as a shoulder bag....the strap is long enough to use it as a sling back....and as is typical of T J Maxx it was a know brand....marked well below retail....so I now have my small walking bag.....I'm trying to fall asleep while I write this have already put "Trollie's Game Room"  to bed for the night....a quick look at "The Farthest Side" and it's time I put myself to bed.....nite all....

The rain ceased right around noon today....but returned toward dusk...originally was to rain most  of the daylight hours....I had been watching NCIS reruns on the USA network....but the last couple were ones that I didn't especially like....so took advantage of the break in the weather and took a run to but Big Lots and Aldi....went to Big Lots first....got 3 of the cherry/limeade which Aldi hardly ever has in stock....and then to Aldi....when I was there Tuesday they didn't have any of the fruit flavor sparkling water....but apparently since Tuesday they had restocked so picked up a couple bottles of the raspberry flavor....so right now I have a week's worth....I only drink one per day with my 2nd meal....which is my "big meal" of the day....the rest of the day I eat small meals....snacks really....and even my "big meal" isn't that big....I find my health is better if I eat small meals several times a day rather than 2 or 3 large meals....
Have spent the rest of the day as I routinely do....I am a creature of habit....and prefer an orderly style of living....there are those who accuse me of having OCD....to which I always respond that I don't have OCD....I have  CDO....it's basically just like OCD but I insist that the letters be in alphabetical order....[hehe]....we have recently added a few new moderators to "The Farthest Side" crew....so the work-load has eased off a little....I enjoy the work there....and I like the vetting process because I get exposed to groups and pages while reviewing a prospective member's timeline and likes that I have added to my following page....rarely to my "likes"....I am by nature apolitical....but I like to be exposed to both sides of an issue....and then usually end up with a position somewhere between the two opposing points of view....but seems that in the current political, social, religious, moral climate in the USA the word compromise has become a "dirty word"[link].....I am extremely conservative....but I also believe I have no right to expect others to follow my POV....we all have the right to chose....and as long as your choices have no effect on me or my family and friends....then it's none of my business....but if on the other hand you ask my opinion....you will get it....

Although it didn't rain here today....it's predicted for most of the daylight hours tomorrow....I awoke quite stiff and sore....because it was damp and the barometer was falling and my knees and feet tend to re-act to those conditions in a very uncomfortable day....and when I did my morning/afternoon dishes I realized I was almost out of dish-washing detergent....but as I usually buy it at Ollie's....and didn't think I had enough to Friday....decided I'd better walk today....just a short trek out the backdoor and down the hill....on my way past the oak tree I disturbed a grey squirrel that was busy harvesting the acorns that have fallen from the tree....which I hardly support his actions....the more he stores for the winter the few I have to step on....and my feet are tender enough with out that irritation....but while at Ollie's found some chili lime salt which has now taken it's place with the rest of my spice collection....and yes....I did remember the dish-washing detergent....
Because of my poor night vision coupled with some balance issues from my essential tremors I never walk at night anymore....and the daylight hours are getting progressively shorter at this latitude....[43.9748* North]....by the winter solstice we will have just over 8 hours of daylight....so I must plan my walking based not only on weather conditions but on available light....but because of the possible severity of our winters and that there may be days I just can't get out whether it be for reason of the weather or that my knees and feet just won't allow it....and add to that the simple fact that I'm not as spry as I once was....I always stock up on canned and packages food item every fall....my winter pantry....some years I barely use it....and there have been a few years that I've been done to the "bare bones" of it....

And then an afternoon walk to Price Chopper....a couple of graffiti eggplant....some sweet potatoes...a chili...and some golden beats....all will find their way into an egg white rustic frittata that is the main course if you will of my daily second meal....accompanied by the above mentioned sparkling water of one flavor or another....and a small piece of dark chocolate....today the frittata was vegetarian....but some days I'll add some bacon, sausage or good german speck [link]]....

Today is the first day of Autumn....always my favorite time of year....I love the colors of the leaves....and the cooler weather....only drawback is that Winter in the Northcountry of New York State comes far to soon on the heels of Autumn.....years ago I was playing golf on October 31st....and by the time we got to the back nine there was 2 to 3 inches of snow on the ground....but since we knew that it would probably be the last round of the year we continued on....nite all....

Decided to walk early afternoon to Price Chopper...I needed some poblano peppers....and wanted some Japanese egg plant....which their were out of....ended up with a baby eggplant....common purple variety....which I've had before and a graffiti eggplant....which I've never tried but have always wanted to....also a couple of mini baguettes....I had one a few days ago and made a sandwich out of it....which i enjoyed greatly....I was going to wait until tomorrow  but with the bad weather predicted decided to do it today....although if the weather clears as forecast I may take a quick trip to Aldi tomorrow....
Just another short walk just before sitting down to write this post....watch the first part of "Mad Max" this morning....have seen it many times....decided about half way through that I would rather take the aforementioned walk than watch the rest of the flick....
Have spent the rest of the day....as I usually do....online....Poker, Bridge, Spades, and 11 different solitaire games....and spending time on "The Farthest Side" an FB group that features the Larson cartoons....most of the time vetting new member requests....and checking posts/comments which we take very seriously.....we enforce a "no political posts or comments policy"....too many sites have been ruined by them....the sole purpose of the site is to enjoy the cartoons.....and have fun....besides there are numerous groups where you can vent your political opinions....you  do it on "The Farthest Side" even once and you get booted....
time to button up my blogs for the night....and then put myself to bed....night all....

Yes I realize that technically Autumn doesn't start this year until September 23....but living in the Northcountry of New York State....it generally makes presence felt quite quickly after Labor Day....and sometimes we have Autumn type weather in the later part of August
When making my second meal where the last red onion was required....went to the pantry and discovered that the last onion....was well....well past it's use-by-date....so to the frig and discovered that there were but 3 green onions left....which I used....besides went looking for salami last night and found none in the frig.....so the walk previously planned for tomorrow was executed this early afternoon....and just another late walk....just to walk....
When I was setting up my notebooks for tomorrows online gaming....I knew it would be the 13th day of September....but really hadn't thought about the fact that it would be Friday the 13....now I'm do not suffer from triskaidekaphobia....but I have in the past had friends who did.....
I'm off to take a last chip drop of the day on Poker and put "Trollie's Game Room" to "bed" for the night....followed shortly there after by me putting myself to bed as well....night all....

While checking my stats today both here and my other two blogs I saw a spike in the number of hits on all three blogs all from one country....Sweden....285 hits here....21 on "Troll's Poetry Corner"....& 97 on "Trollie's Game Room".....I do hope they aren't using my sites to learn proper English or even worse proper English grammar....[hehe].....my style is I fear rather unique and has been influenced a bit too much I fear by my studies in Latin, Koine Greek, & Biblical Hebrew....but for whatever reason they visited I say Welcome.....
Walked early morning to Ollie's and Dollar General....and I had intended to go tomorrow morning to Aldi....but that was before I checked the forecast for tomorrow....ergo....extended my walk to swing by Aldi and pickup what I needed....
Have spent as is my preferred style, the rest of the day online....tending to my duties on the FB group "The Farthest Side"....Larson Cartoons and others in the same style....tending to my blogs....a little YouTube....okay maybe a tad more than a little....in my defense there zilch on the old boob tube as/usual....I prefer to live a simple quiet life....with as little stress as possible....

I always go to Big Lots on Tuesday....usually I'm not looking for anything specific....but usually end up with things I  didn't know I needed until I  saw them on the shelf....besides if or rather when I find something....there's a 10% senior discount there on Tuesday
One of my favorite fruits is opuntia....commonly called prickly pear [link]....but you rarely see it in these parts....there's a fruit stand between Adams Center and Adams that would have them once in awhile but I don't drive anymore....and it's way out of my walking range....so I'm wandering the aisles at Big Lots and there are bottles of Prickly Pear" soda....one of which now sits within arms length....nice....also ended up with a couple of Heath bars....and a dark chocolate/sea salt/caramel candy bar....
Housekeeping was in for their weekly cleaning of my rooms and changing the linens....and have spent the rest of the day as I always do....a little TV....and a whole lot of internet....it's about time for me to head for the lobby and get my evening cup of toffee coffee....and spend some time of "The Farthest Side" before wrapping up my days postings on "Trollie's Game Room".....nite all....

It was such a lovely night....and I had been in my rooms the whole day....so late afternoon/early evening decided to walk the loop I usually walk for my evening walk....but took my sling bag just in case I decided to do a little shopping....when I got to the point where I usually turn for "home"....Price Chopper Plaza was right across the street....stopped in first at Dollar Tree with the intend of just looking around....took off my shades and reached into my pocket for my readers and discovered I forgot to bring my readers....dummkopf....so spent a buck+tax on a pair of 2x magnification....I now think that brings the number of readers most in different magnifications scattered around my rooms to 6 pairs....I've worn glasses since age 12....and all have eventual succumbed to the same fate....eventual I'll find a unique way to destroy them....a container of smoked paprika....at T J Maxx....a multi-grain baguette....some peppers.....2 red bells & a poblano....and 2 burritos....and back to my rooms by way of the lobby to get my nightly toffee coffee....
The version of  "Fall Spades: is apparently no longer compatible with the updated Chrome....found 24/7 Games.com....it's actually their game....and an updated version....but when I wandered around their site found a " Bridge" game....set up much like "Fall Spades"....you and 3 computer generated players....one's your partner....always wanted to learn the game....but in a controlled way....not with "live" players....didn't want to dealer with kibitzers or hecklers....if the comes a time that I get the hang of the game I may consider a "live" game....actually there are several games there I already play else where but I'm happy with the games at the other sites and have no plans to shift my play there....
Still have "Day's End" to prepare and post to "Trollie's Game Room".....and check-in on "The  Farthest Side"....so til to get busy.....nite all....

To begin with and for about the first 30 minutes or so was a good table....very little pre-flop insanity....you could see most flops for a call of the blinds or a reasonable min-raise....and I was getting good looks in the hole....but either couldn't hit a flop or when I did it was a small piece....bottom pair....or a couple times four to a straight....called reasonable raises....missed the turn....and decided not to chase....which as it turned out was the right call....and then the kamikaze came....and it was revealed that 3 or 4 other the other players were dive bombers....and in this maelstrom of insanity....on the button....looking at pair of Aces....just calls of the blinds....until to my immediate right....an all-in for 15K....with a what the hey....had it covered....called....but small & big blind called as well...rest of the table folded....but no betting after the flop/turn/river....and the blind raccoon found a small dumpster....around 70K +/-....later I had pocket Threes....flopped the trips....and the blind raccoon bumped into a garbage can and had a snack....in the wake of the multiple kamikaze raids....the big winner....right around 400'K in his stack....appointed himself "table captain".....and started to make pre-flop raises on almost every hand....and from my POV....unreasonable....the hour was approaching and I departed....ergo....60 minutes played....54 hands played....66.67 seconds/hand....2 wins....1 out of every 27 hands....left with an extra 44,450$....[no slots]....

I always used to study to classical music when I was in college....and when I list a piece of music as "Now Playing:".....it is or once this is posted was playing while I wrote this or any other of the posts I write....I started taking piano lessons just before I was six years old until about age 12....and  then through the school music program French Horn....my piano teacher taught using scaled down classical method and the concert band in school played transcription of orchestral music for band....and I've loved the music all of my almost 72 years....and have performed as an amateur both instrumentally and vocally....for the pure enjoyment of the music....
Just a couple of short walks today....mid-morning to Aldi, and early evening Ollie's....but in truth the later walk was taken just for the walk....going to Ollie's just gave me a mid-point....to return from....with a bag of pretzels that demanded that I take them with me....
Because of the problem with the issue between my OS and a game I played....found a site....same  game....updated....no problem....but a site I haven't played on before so spent some time trying some of the other games they host....some I may re-visit at a later date...."Day's End" on "Trollie's Game Room" is fast approaching and I still need to checking on  the FB group "The Farthest Side" where I'm a moderator....and maybe catch some of the late american football game....season opener.... ergo ....night all....

Down loaded an up date for Chrome OS which my desktop runs....well actually it isn't a PC or really a desktop on the insides....the "guts" are from a Chrome book....but the "skin" is desktop....a Chrome Base....because of my essential tremors I have a devil of a time trying to use a mouse pad and I any touch screen is a nightmare....but with the desktop and a desk and my two handed mouse method [patent pending [hehe]]....I can usually get around the net okay....but when my tremors are bad....which I can thankfully say isn't often....I watch TV....but apparently Google has a very negative opinion of Adobe Flash Player....and the version of "Fall Spades" I play requires it....or rather the version I played requires it....after jumping through hoops to get it working....I found 24/7 games.com....and an updated version that apparently does not use the accursed Flash player because I'm not getting any warnings or blocking from Chrome....plays the same....graphics are updated but same game....so will move my play off the Facebook link I've been using to 24/7 games.com....

Walked twice today....a trip to Aldi....which I had planned to take tomorrow but had changed my plans last night when I saw the first weather forecast....just a few of the usual items....and an afternoon walk for just a few items at Ollie's and Dollar General....some paper cups....a bottle of Powerade zero sugar....and a Snickers Ice cream bar....

I have sung through the years a lot of liturgical music....including chant, recitatives....and of course many cantatas and oratorios....but have been called on at different times to sing in the chant style....I have or rather had a high tenor voice....age and essential tremors have had a negative effect....but I can still hear it....if not perform it anymore....and enjoy that style of music....although my style was described by one director as part Gregorian monk, part Catholic priest and part Jewish cantor....and I don't think I've every sang one the same way twice....
The weather  is starting to anticipate Autumn....I live off the eastern tip of Lake Ontario and Autumn comes early here with unfortunately Winter not far behind....I've seen significant snow falls as early as mid-October....and as late as early May....in fact the old adage up here is we only have 3 seasons....Winter....Just was Winter...&....Soon will be Winter....or 2 seasons.....Winter & Construction....which applies specifically to road work....
The rain had stop or that was my impression about 09:30....got dressed....got to the backdoor and it started to rain again....re-booted....by 10:30 it was now overcast....so off I went....Price Chopper for peppers and plums....then the convenience store for chew....Ollie's for fruit and grain bars for my first meal of the day and a bottle of ketchup....never use it "straight" but it's the base for a dipping sauce I make....and finally Dollar General for a bottle of generic veggie juice another element of my first meal of the day....and of course a small cup of ice cream.....

I barely got back and there was a knock on my door and housekeeping was there for their  weekly cleaning of my rooms and fresh linen....I must admit that I enjoy watching someone else do the cleaning....a job I've never had the taste for....I did have some janitorial duties when I work part time at a public library while in college....cleaning the lavatories both the male and female ones put me off on that type of work forever....and the benefit here is that that service is included in my monthly rent....as is a land line, TV, & WiFi....and access to the morning breakfast buffet as well....and another benefit is because I don't drive anymore.....I'd be unsafe because of my poor vision and my essential tremors....is the location....everything I need is within a 10 minute radius walk....okay 15 or 20 winter in the winter if walking is even possible....hence the winter pantry....time to put this blog....my other blogs....and myself....night all....

Walked early.....had planned on waiting until tomorrow but with rain predicted had decided to still walk tomorrow to Big Lots and Aldi....just wait until the afternoon after the rains had stopped....well that was before a minor disaster....while preparing my first meal....and had peeled and chopped my daily banana....put it in a bowl....to salt and season as I always do....a little black sea salt....a pinch of Herbes de Provence....and a sprinkle of Old Bay seasoning mix....well instead of a sprinkle I didn't recognize until too late that the cap was loose on the container....an got way too much of it on said banana....would have been way too spicy.....and decided not to try to wash a peeled banana....which left me with only one banana left....rather that the two I thought I'd have tomorrow....so walked early on the quest for the elusive banana....and picked up the few things I had planned to get tomorrow
Walked late afternoon which I  had thought I could get to Ollie's and Dollar General before the rains were predicted to start....I  took a last look and the latest prediction was it was going to  start raining....right at the time I was about to leave....but just very lightly....put my vest style windbreaker/rain gear....and walked anyways....just picked up a couple more bottles of the mexican style spices at Ollie's and a snickers ice cream bar at Dollar General....it was just was raining lightly on the way back to my rooms but I was prepared....
