[+30*F/overnight Lo:+23*F/cloudy/winds:w/2/humidity:73%/BP:30.21"\/]..[light snow predicted tonight just before midnight]..[Saturday's Hi/Lo:+34*F/+21*F]..[Sunday's Hi/Lo:+34*F/+30*F..light snow predicted..maybe 1 inch]..[Now Playing: MadTrollie's.."Flash Mobs''..]....
I have spent sometime today editing my playlists..I created a new one "Flash Mobs"..moved a few I had in "The Mix" and added the ones I had previously had bookmarked..and went "public" with "Flash Mobs".."The Mix".."Pop" & "Tyrol/folk"..whether I take anymore of them public I haven't decided yet..at least for the time being will concentrate on editing and adding to the four public ones..
One of the features with the Blogger software is not only does keep track of the number of views to my current three blogs but also gives me country of origin..I usual check at least once per day..and today I noticed that all three blogs had received "hits" from Indonesia..so to my new guest[s] I say Welcome..although I am US based..the vast majority of the hits on all three blogs are from outside the USA..which I find as we would have said back when I was in high school.."That's Kinda Cool"..
I mentioned below the demise of my HVAC unit the other day and the instillation of the new unit yesterday..last night after I posted on of the crew here stopped by to check to see that it was running okay..which it was and now is..
Took one of my longer walks today..needed some fresh veg..peppers and a backup jar of pepperoncini and a bottle of salad dressing..I have a raw veg salad everyday..but no greens..it's not that don't like them..but it's hard to find anything but a head or package of them..and living alone..half of it wilts or flat rots before I finish the bag..so cucumbers/tomatoes/green onions/and pepperoncini and some times some capers or caper berries make up the cast of characters appearing..also stopped at T J Maxx..and got a veggie chopper..probably didn't actual need it..I got a couple of knives that work well..but I love nifty kitchen gadgets..
Still things to do before I sleep so..nite all..

After I posted here last night..I stayed up decided to stay up a little later the /usual..had a late chip drop on the free poker site I had decided to take..awhile I was on-line my HVAC unit  in my rooms started to make a high pitch rattling sound..which progressed in to a low whine..with a very unpleasant smell..so I shut it down..and talk to the manager..so he gave me a small space heater which temporally did the job..keep me warm all night..but was up to almost 22:00..which is a good [or bad actually] hour plus past my usual bed time..and like nothing had happened..04:45 rolled around..and I know me too well..I gave up and started my day..about 09:00 the staff came in and switch out the offending unit for a rebuilt one that works very well..so the room is back to it's warm cozy old self..I would have hated to move to another room..I've got just too much junk to make a fast move a real pain in the tuckus..but the simple fact is in the facility I live in there is only room large enough for my stuff..w/a walking shower..with the condition of my feet and knees getting in and out of a tub is a chore..if I could manage getting into the tub there is a high probability that I do myself an injury trying to get out..besides that with  my balance issues because of my essential tremors..having to step over the edge of the tub to use the shower is a challenge..so I was willing to put up with the problem until it was rectified..I am  very thankful that it was resolved with such dispatch..
Have another later then usual drop tonight but not quite as late as yesterday..still not sure exactly what time as of yet but will probably be up later tonight as well..
Did take a quick walk earlier to Ollie's & Dollar General..just a few of the usual items...thigs to do before I take my rest..nite all..

Dang, what a start to the day..I awoke rolled over to see the clock by my bedside..it would not be proper to call it an alarm clock..although it is designed to function as one..but as I never use that function to me it's just a clock with a lighted face [digital] that I can "read" in the dark..4:25..dang..too early..so over I roll and what in my mind only a few minutes had past..rolled over and the clock still "read" :25..but this time there was a 5 in front of it..and my adventures with time didn't end there..I got distracted and involved in other things and missed a "drop" on the live free poker game I play by nearly an hour..oy vey..
Had not intended to walk today..but realized while preparing my 1st meal the 2 of my bananas were approaching the way to ripe stage..eat the one..but feared the will be beyond the way too ripe stage by tomorrow..so off to Aldi..some green ones that will  be just right when their turn comes..and the pound of bacon I forgot to get the other day..
This afternoon went to open a new tin of dip and realized it was the last one in the tube..I have another tube but especially in the winter like to keep an extra one..so off to the convenience store for another tube..
On the way there and back there was a guy there on the corner of Arsenal and Western Boulevard..with one of those crazy arrow shapes ads that have become the vogue..teased him a little because he wasn't spinning it..[an ad for a local gym]..but he was a good sport about it..but it begs the question..other than to point and laugh at the guy with the sign..does anyone really bother to actual re-act to the ad..??..
Because of my klutz move forgetting the drop the last one of the day is bound to be pushed past 21:00..past my usual bedtime..have to wait to see when the time is posted whether I'll stay up or just leave it for the tomorrow..in any case..night all..

Have had a interesting day that actually in a manner of speaking started last night after I had posted here and bid you all a good night..well Latin but it was a good night..early there had been a cartoon that was posted on "The Farthest Side" which I had a inkling might cause a bid of a problem..so I had turned on notifications so I'd get an alert if/when anyone commented or replied to a comment..and just as I feared it went in the direction I had thought it might..and started to get a little rowdy..nothing in violation of group rules..but let just say that there were getting close to the line..and except for one of the admins who was having access issues..I was the only one there..so I felt obligated to stay and keep an eye on it..normally since I am generally up by 05:00..I generally don't see 21:00..except from my warm bed..but then someone stepped over the line..we have a group rule that forbids any political comment..our group is for the sole purpose of sharing and enjoying the cartoons of Gary Larson and similar ones..so political comments are verboten..and there is only one penalty for such an infraction..the perpetrator is removed and blocked from the group..well as I feared someone made such a comment..and he was removed/blocked and the thread was deleted..by that time I had completed those tasks it was nearly 21:30..add to it I didn't sleep well when I finally got to bed..and yet 05:00 came around and sleep left me..was a bit groggy and out of it..for the first couple of hours..but have felt much better as the  day has progressed..but if some happens again tonight..someone else will have to deal with..
Except for a short walk to Big Lots..just 3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water, a bottle of dish washing detergent..and a bag of lentil chips..the rest of the day has been spent much like any other..did spend a chunk of time fiddling with the layout of "Trollie's Game Room"..still have a few fine touches there but have quite decided on the details..
Still need to put "Trollie's Game Room" to bed before I climb into bed myself..Gute Nacht..

It's been an interesting day..at times it's been spitting a little snow and/or rain  in any case in no significant amounts..but things kind of collide today so that I several things that needed attending..end  of the month is upon us in just a few days..and as is my custom I paid my rent next month today..could of waited but I wanted to get it out of the..needed to get a few things from Aldi, Ollie's and Dollar General..plus it was time to refresh my "10 day walking around money" which usually isn't a big deal..the bank is right next to my lodgings and I just take the short walk up the hill to the ATM..but with the snow banks present..I have to walk all the way round to the entry on the other of the bank..decided that I'd combine the Aldi trip and since I had to pass by the street the bank entrance is on..stop there on the way back..after seeing my bank statement the end of last week decided it was time to move some money from my checking account to my savings account..so decided to take care of that as well..just the usual groceries at Aldi..my walking around around money from the ATM..and into the bank for a chat with the branch manager..after a discussion with her decided rather than move the funds to my savings account I "bought" a CD..[Certificate of Deposit]..a better interest rate..and back to my rooms..
Later after doing some recon..discovered that my short cut to the plaza where Ollie's and Dollar General are was open enough that I wouldn't risk life or limb by going that way..had originally planned to do that tomorrow if I had to walk around the long way..so off to Ollie's and  dollar general..just the usual items with the exception of something I had seen advertised..now I've never been a big fan of Pringles..[apparently neither is spell check..added]..but the ad was for wavy Pringles [aka: ripple chips which I have always preferred]..so got a can of Applewood [dang another add] Smoked Cheddar ones..not bad..
Still have a few things that need doing..ergo..bonum nocte..[two more adds and the Latin Police are on my case again]

[Now Playing: MadTrollie's:"The Mix'..]..
Just another damp dreary day here in the Northcountry..as of yet we have gotten no more than a trace of snow..and because of the temperatures in the mid-30s no real accumulation..but according to the winter weather alert the bulk of the snow should be on the Tug Hill region which is a little south and east of us..more a high plateau in truth..and is known for some outrageous snow falls at times..
Didn't sleep well last night..probably because of the dampness in  the air and the low barometric pressure..those get my knees and joints to start reminding me of all the damage I've done to them through the years whether by my playing sport with a bit too mush enthusiasm, occupational wear and tear or the fact that sometimes I can be a bit of a klutz..so I've been a little more stiff and sore today than/usual..so in any case probably won't  have walked any where today even of the weather had permitted..although I do intend to take a short stroll round the halls of the facility I live in..
ergo..have spent the day as I most often do sans the typical walk outside whether to "run some errands [but at my age "run" is a relative term] or just walk for the sole purpose of getting out in the  fresh air..online although TNT has been showing Star Wars IV-VI..and later this evening TBS is showing Wonder Woman & Justice League..may watch a bit of those as well..and of course the usual run of online games and tending to my blogs and duties as a moderator on "The Farthest Side"..
Just a quiet day..but things to completed before I sleep..hopefully better than last night [knock wood]..night all..

Ar least in the limited area that I can observe we didn't get any freezing rain..but I live within the west edge of the small city I live in and can't say whether they got any in the rural areas around the city..just very light rain mixed with snow..now since my mode of travel is my 2 feet..and had no pressing need had no reason to walk outside today so I didn't..now when it changes to light snow tomorrow or Monday..daytime temperatures expected in the mid-30's..that I don't have a  problem with..I've lived in  the north-eastern US all my life..and dealing with snow is second nature to me now..
TNT has been showing the three prequels of Star Wars today and I've been watching that from time to time..but have spent the majority of the day on-line..the usual games poker..spades..11 different solitaire games..and a little blackjack and video poker..tending to my two blogs and spending time doing my moderator thing on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..and searching Youtube for new things to add to my playlists..I chose to live a solitary life..and now that I'll dealing with the effects of essential tremor I need to live as stress free as possible..for that matter not only stress but excitement can trigger a tremor..an except the stress/excitement of a big pot in the free poker game I play I avoid situations that might cause one..of course I also like conversation..and have many casual friends..but I avoid any serious involvement..not only because of the tremors..but I've been "on the wagon" as they used to say back in the day for 27 months as of today..and it was emotional stress which was the root cause of my problem..obviously I didn't handle it very well..but that's behind me now..
Now don't misunderstand..the day I quit looking at the ladies is the day they nail the lid over my head..but the old adage  "You can't live 'em..can't live without 'em"..at my age I've discovered "I can live very well without 'em"..
Still a few chores to complete..so nite all

Actually was a very nice late January day..temperature was in the upper 30s..just a light breeze out of the east..but a sunny day..left the Carhart in the closet and a hoodie and a lined flannel shirt..left the wool cap in my rooms..my fav snap brim hat  on my old grey head..and gloves in my sling bag..but not needed..and off to Price Chopper Plaza..first stop.."Dollar Tree"..were every thing literally sells for a dollar or less/item..a package of  meat balls & a package of spicy sausages..T J Maxx..just a bottle of dry shallots..the bottle I'm using is almost gone did already have a "backup" but they don't always have them in stock..then Price Chopper..the usual peppers..some fresh garlic..fresh shallots..a couple of tins of anchovies, and a container of grated pecorino romano cheese..now I didn't check whether I had a backup bottle of the grate cheese..had emptied a bottle about a month ago..and hadn't been to Price Chopper for more than three weeks..and obviously didn't remember buying a backup then..well I had..and now I have two backups..but it's something I've done before..at one time I had 3 count 'um 3 backup bottle of sambal..oy vey..I have vivid memories of things going back over 60+ years..and then..just what did I have for breakfast..always been that way to a greater or lesser extent..and it certainly hasn't improved with age..I still can remember parts I've played or sung in the past..sometimes I remember a quote by an obscure writer I've read..but can't remember the his/her name..dang..I was sitting at breakfast in college with a young lady I'd been dating for a couple of months..and for the life of me..couldn't remember her name..oy vey..have always had trouble remembering names..never forget a face..but their name..not a chance..and now before I write a novella..nite all..

Both today and tomorrow were and are predicted to be at least here in the Northcountry decent days..partly sunny and for the time of years warm..well compared to the usual clod weather of January..now I wanted to get somethings at Aldi..Price Chopper..T J Maxx and Dollar Tree..now if I had only had today would have walked the "big loop" and got them all in one trip..but since the weather both days looks go..decided to go to Aldi today..and hit the other three tomorrow..being that the later three are all in the same plaza..besides if the weather does turn on me tomorrow..after all weather prediction is hardly hard science..especially in these parts..got the usual things from Aldi today..so from a pantry situation I'm set..nothing must have at the other three..
Had one of the better nights sleep I've had in quite a spell..but was as we used to say back in the day "dead on my feet" last night..and was in bed by 20:30..about an hour early than /usual..but was up at my usual time..just before 05:00..though I haven't "punched a clock" in several years..brain is still stuck on "work time"..oy vey..
Have spent the rest of the day online..did watch a couple of re-run episodes of "Bones" [TNT] and
"Pawn Stars" [History}..other than that..nothing worth watching..still working on my playlists, haven't decided whether to leave them "unlisted" as they are now..or change some to "public"..in other words they were appear in a search for a particular piece..still needed to do some editing before I make up my mind what to do..

It was one of those afternoons..just after 13:40..from a need for some supplies I had no reason to walk..sure there were things I needed in two or three days..but I just needed  to get out of my rooms and in the fresh air..originally I had planned to watch the typical fare on the USA network..an NCIS marathon from 08:00 thru 20:00 and the start of what every pro wrestling program they play on Wednesday..don'y ask me which one they all look the same to me..with out commenting on the reality fact of these events is that in my youth I did do some wrestling..amateur..wrestling..actually the action is funny to watch..but I can do with out the "soap opera" that it's become..but I digress..I had intended to watch all day..then I discovered that other than the first episode..not one of my favs..the rest were post-Zeva..and some were even post-Tony..so AMC were shoeing Godfather I & II back-to-back..just couldn't get into them as we said back in the day..so off to Ollie's and Dollar general..nothing out of the ordinary..just the usual bits and pieces..but enjoyed the walk greatly
I think I mentioned awhile back that I was getting hits both on this blog and one of my other blogs.."Trollie's Game Room"..from spam/porn bots..for awhile there were all from the Ukraine but within the last couple of days one has joined the "party" from Poland..oy vey..different source names but apparently the same two girls "work" for both..now the way I got my blog setup only I can post and all comments have to be approved by me before they appear..and on the other hand the more "hits" I get the higher my blogs appear on the search queues..
Time to attend to other issues..night all..

I checked my liquid egg white..Aldi recent changed from stocking pints and went to quarts only..I've been using the first quart since Saturday and can't really tell how much I've got left..it used to take me 3 days +/- to use a pint..and according to the research I've done..you should use it up in 7 days..and I'm a little concerned about the probability of pushing that 7 day envelope..so decided on the spur of the moment to take a walk and get another carton..which is good thru the end of February if unopened..besides I hate using something I usual on a daily basis without having a backup on hand..with my essential tremors and the possibility of "popping" a tremor with out warning..what I'm trying to say is spills, over-pours, and drops are not uncommon with me..and other assorted klutz moves have always been common for me and the tremors only increase the probability of an occurrence..also the usual bananas, sparkling water..backups for butter and cheddar cheese..and a box of wheat thins..
Been a fairly quiet day..back to the Tuesday visit from housekeeping..had a better result on the poker table this morning [free site..only game money..faux money] changes hands..and the usual rota of solitaire games..also spent a bunch of time adding to and editing my playlist..talking about my playlist..my definition of "Pop music" mostly defers from most peeps..I probably should add a warning label to it..i e..[WARNING: This playlist contains "Moldy Oldies"]..

Actually was a very nice day today for the Northcountry in January..decided to walk just after 13:30..temperature was +15*F..it was not quite as windy and out of the s/s/w..and the windchill was a balmy +7*F..and a beautifully sunny day..so on with my Carhart coat and off to the convenience store and a stop at Price Chopper..some garlic..a red bell pepper..some horseradish root..some prepared horseradish..I use both the raw and prepared..I like to grate some of the root into my egg white dishes..but use the prepared as a condiment..burgers and the like..and a single serve pre-made meal..for when I'm in a hurry..but enjoyed the walk..sidewalks was in fair to good condition except for the one spot that never is properly taken care of..so I ended briefly in the street..but that section is a right turn lane which is little used..according to the forecast it's will be above freezing on both Thursday and Friday so that should take care of the sidewalks..at least until it snows again..
Have spent the rest of the day as I most often do..have spent some of the day editing and adding to my MadTrollie's playlists..except for the Lord Peter Wimsey and Hornblower..which I discovered as is and will remain un-altered..the rest will be in an almost constant state of evolution..

It's snowed on and off for the last several hours but if I said we got 3" of snow that would be giving it the benefit of the doubt..snowfall was nowhere hear the 4 to 8 inches predicted..at least not where my rooms are..decided to walk but after my conditions shorten walk of yesterday..I wanted to pick,up something at the convenience store and a few groceries..now the groceries I could get at either Aldi or Price Chopper..didn't matter..but my dip I can only get at the convenience store..so..decided to leave by the front see what the the sidewalks looked like in both directions..to the west and the convenience store..not good..would have had to walk some in the street..something I'd rather not do..to the east and Aldi..no problems at all..and the point is that I could wait on the convenience store..will be above freezing both Wednesday and Thursday and I can easily wait until then..or put another way today the convenience store..wasn't convenient..Aldi has gotten new shopping carts..these things are massive..they're wide enough that they have not one but two seats with seat belts for to small kids to ride side by side..and there are kind of cumbersome for a gimpy, grumpy, codger like me who never buys more at one time then I can fit in my sling bag..so I got a cloth bag with handles..I've started to just take that out..put my purchases in that..and repack in the sling bag after checkout..
Besides the walk..have spent the day mostly on-line..did watch most of the movie "Now You See Me" on the FX network..I enjoy the movie and despise the sequel..rarely do sequels equal the original..have the same opinion of most re-makes of the old classic films..they never seem to come close to the quality of the original..

Against my better judgement I decided to walk this afternoon..but I have a history of doing things that are against my better judgement..or at least I've been told  by many people..when what they really meant was that what I have done, was in the process of doing or thinking about doing was against their better judgement..but I haven't been out since Thursday..and I was feeling the onset of the dreaded "cabin fever [link]..for some it takes a quite while..for me 24 hours will do the trick sometimes..I'd tried walking the halls here..didn't work..decided to walk to the convenience store..really could of waited but I just needed to get out in the fresh air..went out the back door..and got up to Arsenal Street..looked west to where I was going and couldn't discern where the sidewalk was..and the street was too busy to walk in considering the "off" conditions..at that point sanity returned if only briefly and looked east back towards the front of the facility I live in..actually could make it out where the sidewalk was..and decided I'd walked enough..now if I had really needed something..other then the walk I would have turned west..but I'd had my walk outside so turned east and back to my rooms..reluctantly..Besides my brief and aborted walk..I've spent the day in my warm..comfortable rooms..online..hasn't been squat on the old boob tube today..the usual online games..modding duties on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..tending to my blogs..and editing and adding new pieces to my playlists..

As I do here I always post the weather conditions in the header over at "Trollie's Game Room"..I ended my early morning poker session just after 06:00 and recorded the weather for posting..at the time It was 0*F and factoring in the north wind blowing at 10 mph..the windchill was listed at -15*F..which is generally a pretty typical morning temperature and windchill in January for this area of Upstate New York..it really has been unseasonably warm this winter so far..now when I was running a shipping/receiving/warehouse dept of a small factory for over 25 years before my retirement..working outside in the winter with windchill numbers in the -25 to -40* range was common..but two things..1] I was younger then..2] I was getting paid..now despite the fact that I know how to dress for the weather and have the proper clothing..if the temperature outside is below zero or the windchill is I remain in my very comfortable, and warm rooms..which I have done all day today..and with the snow forecast for the next couple days..since I no longer drive but walk to where I need to be..I will remain in my rooms until the sidewalks are shoveled..but I am prepared for that..the winter pantry is well stocked..
Except for an episode of "NCIS" this morning..and "Paw Patrol" while eating my mid-day meal have watched zero boob tube today..the access is included in my monthly rent here and quite frankly if I had to pay for it "out of pocket"..I doubt that I would..
Still have a few tasks before me so I will bid you a goodnight [or whatever time in the day it is when you read this]..

[Friday's Hi/Lo:+9*F/+1*F/partly cloudy][Saturday's Hi/Lo:+27*F/+25*F snow excepted 3 to 5"].....
We did get some snow overnight but maybe 2 or 3 inches at most..and because it had been warmer prior to the snow fall while it did  "stick" on the grass..the sidewalks for the most part were wet but not snow covered..but with the cold predicted for tonight overnight through tomorrow and the possibility of more snow on Saturday..re-evaluated my "stores" and decided I needed to get bananas today..and a couple of bottles of sparkling water..so off I went..north wind was a little bitter when walking into the wind but other than that was a nice walk..also picked up salami and a couple of calzones..for a quick meal..
Yesterday the guy from housekeeping was showing me the new re-model of some of the rooms in the first wing of the hotel..they had changed the furniture..and I saw the new desk chairs and I liked them..but jokingly said to him if he found one of them missing he'd find it when he cleaned my room next Tuesday..well I heard a knock on the door this afternoon and there he was with my new chair..now I will admit I did say what I did partially in jest..but not completely..I would never just have taken one..but I am going to keep it..the old chair and my tuckus were having an ongoing disagreement..besides that the arms of the new one fit under my desk and the new position is far more comfortable..
Besides the walk have spent a quiet day..a little TV and a whole lot of internet..still working on my playlists..and going through my old bookmarks and editing them..moving some to the playlists..and  deleting some that for one reason or another no longer available..I  have been using the Chrome browser for several years and there are some I haven't used in years..anyways am not really going at it "full bore"..just a few at a time..have a few more things to attend to before I take my rest..goodnight to you all..

When I walked this morning it was mid 30s F and just a light breeze..hadn't original planned to walk..but had forgotten yesterday when I was in Ollie's that I had opened the last box of quart storage bags..and it is my practice that when I open the "backup" of anything I use regularly to promptly get the new "backup" so  realized it..so off to Ollie's got the bags and..true to form a box of hard pretzels and a bag of peppered beef jerky..and before I left had checked both the weather and my cash on hand and realized that if I went true to form I'd go up to the ATM Friday for my "10 day walking around money"..but one look at the weather for Friday [see above]..and we were in for a more typical January day temperature wise..and I really don't want to know what the  windchill will be..but well below 0*F I'm sure..and snow tomorrow..so in a rare for me lucid moment decided I'd better do it today while I was out..
I had prepared to watch the NCIS re-run marathon on the USA network but except got the first episode they showed only some of the newer episodes [aka: post Ziva]..and try as I might I just can't as we used to say back in the day "get into them"..
Housekeeping was in today so I have fresh linens..and everything is as again we used to say clean as a whistle..have spent a big chunk of my time today adding to my MadTrollie playlists..and also doing some editing of my bookmarks..still have a few things there to move &/or delete..and decided if I want to leave the movies/TV bookmarks as/is or move them to a "playlist"..already have moved the Hornblower and Lord Peter Wimsey episode there..
Still have to wrap up the day on "Trollie's Game Room" & the FB group "The Farthest Side"..so will bid to you a goodnight..

[Now Playing: MadTrollie:'The Mix"]..
It was actually a quite pleasant day today for my traditional Tuesday walk to Big Lots..was right one side or the other of +32*F with a light east wind but it was mostly sunny when 1 walked..three bottles of sparkling water..two cherry lemonade & a flavor I haven't tried before..ginger lime..which I had intended to write about tonight but like the dummkopf I sometimes am..forgot to put in the frig until just a few minutes ago..ergo..another time..a bottle of onion flakes and a bottle of olive bruschetta..which will all probability find it's way on a sandwich I'm constructing later..and a quick stop into Aldi on the way back..some potatoes, grape tomatoes, a container of feta cheese..and 2 bananas..
Had planned on my weekly Tuesday visit from housekeeping today..and as I always do put  my garbage and recyclables out in the hall last night..and didn't bother to make up the bed this AM in anticipation of fresh linens..although I rarely have quests in my rooms I always make up the bed first thing..except for Tuesday..but the desk clerk came down..they are replacing some of the furniture in the first building and were busy unloading the truck and moving things in..so they'll be in tomorrow..so I made up the bed..just habit..
Still a few tasks remain..including my shower and taking my meds..and of course the sandwich and a couple of online things as well..I bid you farewell until the morrow..

I had originally planned not to walk tomorrow because the forecast I saw yesterday had rain all day Tuesday..this afternoon..without checking the more recent forecast decided to walk this afternoon and get a few things I needed from Dollar General..and as I always do before a write my daily post here I check the forecast..and discovered that now the rain is forecast to start until 16:00 tomorrow..if I had check before I went to Dollar General..I could have skipped that walk..and got everything I needed at Big Lots..plus or rather a 10% discount..but will probably take the walk to Big Lots tomorrow anyways..a couple of things that I can only find there..well that's not completely true..but I can find most of it other places..but at a higher price..I do live on a fix income and although I can afford what I get..if I can save a couple of bucks..that's even better..
Except for the brief walk have spent the day on line..except for an NCIS re-run this morning..have added a couple of new playlists to the left-side-bar with a couple more to come..and have been busy adding to the others as well

The predicted ice storm missed us..was to the north along the St Lawrence Valley..and although we did get intermittent rain..we didn't get the predicted snow/winter mix..now understand I'll  not the least bit disappointed in that fact..obviously quite the opposite..I have lived through two major ice storms since moving to the Northcountry of New York State..not fun..and the Blizzard of '77..and how can I forget the Micro Burst [link]..so I've lived through enough bad weather in my lifetime so will gladly take a pass on another event..or least I forget the day in the mid 70's when the outdoor temperature was -55*F w/50 mph winds and a wind chill below -100*F..so another major weather event..I'll pass if you please
But because we didn't get the predicted weather..took a trip to Ollie's and Dollar General..on the list dish washing detergent [Ollie's]..tomato juice [Big Lots]..but while I was at Ollie's another bottle of spice and a bag of good candy insisted that I take them hope..had an "Old-Timer's" moment and left my gloves in my shopping basket..knew where I had left them..went back and retrieved then..then to Dollar General where along with the needed tomato juice another bag of candy and 2 cherry pocket pies found their way into my basket..but certain stores i e Big Lots and T.J. Maxx I rarely go into looking for any thing specific..but always manage to find something I desperately needed but didn't know I did until I saw it there..
Been a quiet day other than that..busy day on "The Farthest Side"..had on of my better days on the Poker table [free site..only game money changes hands]..but still a few things agendum [dang spell check..If I have one..it's an agendum..if 2 then a agenda..not agendas..agenda is already plural..or at least it was in Latin from which the word came 50+years ago when I studied Latin in High School]

[I've moved the playlist to the side-bar]
I posted a winter weather warning in the footer..there's an ice storm predicted for the St Lawrence River valley..which is about 30 miles "as the crow flies" north of where I reside..not sure if we will be affected by it at all..but the rain is to continue here thru tomorrow morning and at some point change to snow until mid-afternoon..so at this point it's a wait and see situation..I've been through 2 major ice storms in the time I've lived in this area..and one off the problems with them is that if there is a major amount of ice build up on trees or power lines they may cause a power outage..but as I read it now the worst of it should miss us here..but a slight change in wind direction and you never know..
Because of the rain have spent the day in my rooms..and online..it's been a very busy day on "The Farthest Side" have had a large number of new member requests to plow through..we try to take a very close look at a prospects groups/timeline/likes..also have spent a fair amount of time on the setup and additions to my play lists..I as of this time have 4 different categories..and have been adding and editing them..and knowing me the list will eventual grow well beyond 4..at this point they're unlisted..and only accessed from the links on the left..but probably changed them to a public status..and of course have spent time playing games online..and posting to "Trollie's Game Room"..still have few things to deal with both on and off line..so..nite all..

Dang every time I check the weather then keep pushing the start of the rain back..last night it was 09:00 this morning..when I looked this morning it was 12:00 but a look at the radar made believe 16:00 was closer to the truth..so off to Aldi and picked up a few more things..got back and realized that the cups I keep my loose change in needed attention..I pre-sort quarters/dimes/nickels/pennies in separate cups..[of course I do..]..and rolled up some coinage..with what I already had done I had quite a chunk of change so decided to hit the bank and deposit it in my designated internet account [I have a separate account to use online..]..but they now have a teller window where gimpy, grumpy, old codgers like me can sit down while taking care of banking business..and it's much appreciated..there are few things I need..well that's not exactly true..there are a few things I want..not necessarily need..that would be a whole lot easier to buy on line..my desktop is almost three years old..I'm thinking of getting a laptop backup..and when &/or if the desktop "dies" I'll have time to get a new one with out the rush to get back on-line..and there are other off-line items that either I can't get locally or would have difficulty getting them from the store to my rooms. i.e. something too big, too heavy or too cumbersome for me as a confirmed walker and 72 years old to handle..
A few tasks to complete before I take my rest..I bid you a goodnight..

With the weather forecast for the weekend..my next stop online tonight will be to google "plans for an ark"..but on the other hand if it wasn't so warm [and I realize "warm" is a relative term..but January is often up here the coldest month of the year with below zero Fahrenheit calm..I remember one day in the mid-70s when the temperature was -55*F with 55 mph winds..wind-chill in excess of -100*F..frostbite and hypothermia possible in less than  a minute]..but if it was colder that rain would be snow approx: 1" of rain equals 12" of snow [+/-]..depends on a bunch of factors that's just a rough estimate..
but with the bad weather in the offering..just a quick walk to Dollar General for a few last minute items..but the pantry is well stocked..but I couldn't find a rubber raft..dang..but where I live is "high ground" so let the rain come..at least it isn't snow &/or way below zero..
Have been messing around with the creation of my own mixes..will be adding and editing them probably constantly..I know me too well..at some point I will probably list them in the side-bar or possibly in the header..rather than in the individual posts..[brief pause..had a chip drop to deal with on the poker game I play]..one less thing to do..but still a few more..nite all..

The bad weather predicted never arrived..well at least for where I live..the bulk of the storm [based on my viewing of the radar] went to the south of use..and we just caught a little of the northern edge of the system..and the winds through brisk..were nowhere near the 35+ mph predicted..so had errands to run..stops at Ollie's..Dollar General and Aldi..nothing out of the ordinary well except I did find a nice piece of Sopressata salami..a dry cured sausage..and my favorite of the salamis..
Had one of my best nights rest in quite awhile..slept for 7 and 1/2 hours straight..a rarity for me with age and effects of meds..beside the walk have spent the day online..and watching some of the of the 12 hours of NCIS re-runs on the USA Network..post Ziva..but a couple were ones I enjoy..

[Now Playing:"Kratzat 1"[listen]]..[the first of many mixes that I have personally put together]
If you check the footer we are under another winter weather advisory..and as /usual there are different predictions..one says there is only a 50% chance of snow..light and scattered..the other 3 to 5 inches..and exactly where the heaviest snow will fall has not of yet been determined..one thing they agree on is we may have gusts of wind in excess of 35 mph..now as for me all they would have had to report was the high winds..seeing that this gimpy..grumpy..old coot..with balance issues is going to stay in his warm, cozy rooms and not I  repeat not going to venture out tomorrow..
But I did venture out today..twice..originally I had planned to go to the bank..Big Lots..& Aldi today..and Price Chopper later in the week..but with the weather coming decided that the priority should be picking up my next 3 months supply of meds..Price Chopper's in-store pharmacy..but although compared to most peeps my age my meds while not expensive as most..are enough that I usually withdraw the cost especially for that purpose from my account..and seeing that it was time to get my 10 day walking around money..and the bank and Price Chopper are in opposite directions..a quick run early up to the ATM..and then later the walk to Price Chopper..checked in with the pharmacy..got the meds ordered..was told 20 minutes..did take a tad longer but I  spent my time picking up a few groceries that I needed..spent a little more than I had intended but was out of a few things..got the meds and since I was in the vicinity decided to stop and get my chew at the convenience store..a little early but with the weather..it was just a short detour..and decided that that was the wise thing to do..probably will stop at Aldi before the weekend but not tomorrow..
Have not spent the time on "The Farthest Side" today  I normally do so off to do that..nite all

I kind of by accident today discovered that Youtube has added a feature..by which I can create my own mixes..up to now the mixes I've been listening to and posting while they do contain music that I have either listened to before or off one of the 360 subscriptions I currently have on Youtube..so I've been messing around with it today..haven't "built" one as of yet that I've posted but after a little time getting used to the procedure probably will..on the other hand Youtube so far is doing a pretty decent job with the ones they've been selecting..but it is fun to fiddle with anyways..funny part of it is except for the sound effects inherent in the games I play..I almost never listen to music on-line except while I posting..[when in college I usually studied to music..help drown out the mayhem in the dorm]..which between 2 active blogs actually accounts for a couple hours a day..on the other hand I will when I feel like watching TV and there's nothing worth my time on "the old boob tube" I will watch a flix or old re-run on-line..and I've been know to "surf" Youtube..so the new feature will allow me to do that and  then go back and book-mark a few sites I really enjoy..
It's been snowing most of the day..not much in the way of accumulation..but the winds have been a blowing at quite a clip..add the fresh wet snow + my balance issues + the wind..and I [for once] took the safe choice and stayed in my rooms all day..tomorrow looks decent..Wednesday..snow..decent Thursday..but rain Friday and  Saturday..and need to pickup my meds for the next 3 months during the next seven days..so maybe Big Lots/Aldi tomorrow and Price Chopper [in-store pharmacy]..Thursday..but with the way weather changes around here at the drop of a hat..call the plan tentative..still things to do..nite all..

My original plan for the day was to stay in my warm digs and avoid the weather..and spend the day on-line..one problem..I've been having a issue with  my mouse..I've had my current system a Chrome Base [the guts of a Chrome Book but in desktop form] for the better part of three years..I got it specifically because with my essential tremors I have a difficult time using a mouse pad..and a lot of dust and assorted gunk was fouling the mechanism..specifically the left click..went on the fritz again today..got it working but decided enough was already too much..I hadn't gotten to Bid Lots on Tuesday because of the weather..and knew they carried computer accessories..plus I wanted a couple bottle of cherry lemonade sparkling water..found a couple of bottle of old fashion Black Cherry soda..they had several "mice" but nothing I wanted..so back to my rooms..looked at the clock 10:45..realized I had just enough time to get to Staples and back..before I had something to do on line..Staples doesn't open until 11:00 on Sunday..but it's about a fifteen minute walk..so didn't take off my outdoor clothes..put my purchases and off to Staples [in the opposite direction form Big Lots]..found just what I was looking for..it has an more ergonomic design than my last one..and it's much easier for me to use..was going to wait to switch out the old one..but got back earlier than I needed..so the switch has been made..and balance has been restored to my universe..well maybe not that..but it works..

[Now Playing: Hayden's "Lord Nelson Mass"[listen]..]..
The piece I'm  listening to tonight is one full of happy  memories for me..for several years I sang with the local group; The Northcountry Choral Society..and although we did many styles pf music..much of it was from the Baroque period..the Hayden being an example..maybe one of harder tenor parts I've ever encountered..had to work very hard to get it just right..but did..and it has been and always will be one of my favorite pieces of choral music..the recording I have selected tonight shows the sheet music to the piece as well as the recording..I wish when I sang with the group that such a thing was available..I would buy a CD of the piece and at home in private practice have the score on my lap and sing along..being able to bring it up on a monitor..both the music and the score would have been a lot easier..plus it would be much easier to stop and "rewind" to redo a difficult part..
Just after 09:30 took a walk over to Aldi..just a few of the usual items..but it was snowing..if you can honestly call it that..very light snow..but it reminded me of years ago..light snow was falling and I stopped at a local place called "Jeans Beans"..you could get all sorts of hot and cold dishes for take-out..including some lovely deep fried haddock..[which my cats would fight me for]..this lady walked in..obviously from the southern US..[an accent you could cut with a knife]..and said "We're having a Bliz-ard "..she I discovered was a military wife and her husband had just been transferred to Fort Drum [home of the 10th Mountain Division"]..and we had to inform her that she hadn't seen nothing yet..but it reminded me that how we describe any thing or event is greatly influenced by our past experience[s]..in some areas 6" of snow would constitute a disaster..up here half the time we don't even bother to shovel it..
Still things to do before I take my rest..nite all..

The mix playing tonight I found almost by accident..I was looking for a recording of a band arrangement of J.S>Bach's "If Thou be Near" [sometimes "when" rather than "IF"..depends on the translation]..and finally found the arrangement I  had played with the high school band many years ago [I graduated in 1966]..it had a long section  that featured the french horn on the melody..we didn't get melody that often..but the melody "fit" the tonality of the horn..but in the process I "stumbled" on a group I had never heard of before.."The Priests" [a men's trio] and was simply blow away by their harmony..besides I've always both for listening as well as singing/playing been a big fan of the  small group/ensembles..my favorite moments/memories both listening and preforming involve small groups..duets, trios, quartets..quintets..any group less than a dozen..
A very comfortable mid-40s F day here with only a light breeze..but up here anything under 15 mph is considered a breeze..when I walked maybe 6 or 7 mph..just a quick trip to Ollie's..a bag of pretzel pieces and some spoons..I keep mislaying those I have..I figure if I have enough I'm bound to find one..and Dollar General..a jug of tomato juice..a six of Doctor Pepper in 7.5 oz. cans..and a bottle of Powerade zero sugar..it's just as important to keep well hydrated in the winter as well as the summer..I general will take a drink of it after my walks..can't stand the stuff if I'm not thirsty..but nothing tastes better to me when I am..never claimed that I wasn't crazy..

walked to Aldi today just for the usual groceries..but I have a problem..I use liquid egg white for a dish I make once per day..and have been buying it in pint containers..for two reasons..1] I've done my research and once you open the container you should use it within 7 days..usually takes me about 3 days..2] I have limited storage in my frig[s]..particularly for tall containers..but 2 pints are easier to store for me than 1 quart..and there in lays the rub..Aldi is no longer going to carry the pints..just the quarts..nuts..now I can still buy the pints at Price Chopper but Aldi is a much shorter walk and less expensive..I did talk to the store manager at Aldi but he really has no say in what the company sends him..I'm to say the least a little annoyed..I usually only shop at Price Chopper 1 every week or 10 days..no shelf life is not a problem last pint I bought has a use by date of Feb. 28..so as long as I don't open it..I'm golden..but 3 or 4 pints are the maximum I really want to keep ahead..may have to make  more trips to Price Chopper..in good weather no problem..but this time of year..you never know..on the bright side..T J Maxx is in the same plaza and it gives me a good excuse to go there looking for odd and unusual spices..
USA has been airing an NCIS marathon today..so I've spent sometime vegging out watching..a few more things to do..nite all..

[Now Playing: "Strauss II"[listen]..]..
I don't know how much snow got "dumped' up on Tug Hill..but we got a trace of snow..now I had planned to walk today to get some groceries..but hadn't checked the last time I was at Aldi..to see if this being New Year's Day they'd be open..but knew that Price Chopper would be open..they're open 24/7..except they close in the evening on Christmas Eve..and open up again in the morning of Dec.26th..so the plan was to exit my lodgings by the lobby..if Aldi was open go there the store is  right across the street from where i live]..if not take the longer walk to Price Chopper..now before I left I had checked the weather..mid-30s F but with wind-chill the temperature felt like lower 20s F..now normally I just "layer" but the winds were west@14..so decided to wear my Carhart coat..maybe a little "over-kill"..but was glad I did because on my way to Price Chopper [Aldi was closed] was walking directly into that 14 mph wind..with a little light snow throw in for extra measure..oy vey..and even thought I knew I'd spend  a little more decided to get everything I needed rather than depending on walking tomorrow..peppers..rolls..an english cucumber..tomatoes..prepared horse radish..a couple of pre-made burritos and a pint of liquid egg whites..a bottle of italian dressing..and of course bananas..also since I was in that plaza a stop at T J Maxx..a couple of bottles of spices for the pantry..will most probably still go to Aldi tomorrow for a few things I prefer buying there but not a necessary..
I spent New Year's Eve as I have for many years..I was in bed by 21:00 and sound asleep when the New Year was ushered in..even when I was drinking I never partied on New Year's Eve..used to refer to it as "Amateur's Night"..
Besides the walk have spent my day as is my custom in my warm rooms..a little TV and a whole lot of internet..a few loose ends still to "tie off" so bid you a good night..
