just a quick post, it's late and i should have bedded down for the night a long time ago but am wide awake, feel really good tonight which is weird because it is not the way the day started out, it rained to beat the band last night, thunder, lightening the whole nine yards and i woke up stiff and sore, whether because of the yard work, the weather or probably both i'm not sure, but was very gimpy this morning, weather was still rotten, but took the afternoon off, really wasn't doing anyone any good at work, and came home, ate lunch, weather improved and started to feel better so just tinkered around the garden.
no i did not listen to the president tonight, no i did not listen to the endless dissection of what he said, i find myself becoming increasingly a-political....i just don't see what good anyone is doing or could do.....i'm seriously considering resigning from the human race.....wait....i've never really considered myself part of it to begin with...

i didn't sleep well last night, which was no surprise, it rained like crazy and i was pretty stiff and sore from the yard work, even a couple of IBs didn't help much, i discovered this morning that i made a big booboo, when i extended the island bed to added the juniper, i reduced the space between that and one of the main beds to the point that i could get the lawnmower between them, oy vey.....so i had two choices, i could re-set the juniper and reduce the bed size or i could just extend the bed and join it into the main bed, which is the choice i took, i added a stepping stone and a small mongo pine and a few more lava rocks and all is well, i'm glad that i decided to you the red mulch this year rather then the black because while the texture of the mulch and stone is different ( now there is a statement of the overly obvious, the color is almost identical so the transition is smooth, saw a couple of plants i'd really like to add but no real place to put them. everything is now done except for the annual pots, and i'm not 100% sure i'm going to do them or if i'll use plantings or seed....

well i was sitting at my computer playing blogshares and trying to convince myself that i really didn't need to go out, get the hose out of winter storage, set it up and water the new plantings. now i knew i needed to do it but was just too tired. well right queue, the sky opens up and we get a nice easy but good rain for about a half an hour, more then enough to fulfill the needs of the new plants.....thank you.....

i am exhausted tonight, a put in an 8 hour day of yard work, i mucked out the flower beds, planted just four new perennials, to fill in holes, mulched the beds and planted some annual seeds, but went you have probably 100+ feet of flower beds it takes a lot of time, i had intended to just do the beds by the sidewalk today and then do the beds around the house next weekend but just got going a did the whole shooting match. i decided to take a much more minimal approach this year, i've been planting a lot of annuals in the beds next to the side walk but decided against it this year, just mulched the spaces between the perennials, and added 3 new ones, a sage and a dwarf arctic willow and one other that i can remember what it is(edit:i checked the tag spirea). also planted one bed with african daisies, sunflowers and gords from seed. added a dwarf japanese juniper to the bed by the bird feeder, had a big hole where something had died, a poppy i think, and surrounded it with red lava rock, i was going to put white sand around it to give it more of an oriental look, but then remembered that there are far too many cats in the neighborhood, may dust a bit of soil in the rocks and see if i can get a sedum to take.
i've used a whole bunch of pots with annuals in them to accent spots in the past but think i'll stick to maybe two pots this year, it was nice but it was a bit cluttered, and i really want to just keep it simple this year. in any case will not buy the plants until next week. in this zone, putting out annuals before memorial day is just to risky...heck we still get frosts sometimes in through the 2nd week of june. but will probably fill the two pots over next weekend.
it was a weird day, it was just a tad cool and overcast all day and tried to rain probably a half dozen times with little success, but a prefect day for the yard work because it wasn't too hot. but got involved with the yard and forgot to eat. never ate my first meal of the day until 3:30 PM. probably will have a snack here in a bit but am too tired to think about it....

it was a nice day today, just warm and really quite nice, fairly easy day at work, decided to just eat at home tonight, really wasn't in the mood to go out so just made some quick pizza with some pre-prepared shells, turned out great was just relaxing, getting into weekend mode, two days off, and got called back in to work.......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!....ok it was only an hour but now i'm in a royal blue funk......

it's been a typical day here, if you don't like the weather wait a bit and it will change, it was an absolutely beautiful day this morning, sunny and about 70*F, then about noon the clouds started rolling in and it got very windy but still quite nice, then about an hour ago we had a thunder storm come rolling through, wasn't bad right around the house but form the fact that the sirens were going pretty well non stop for an hour i would guess that there was some damage else where in town.....
had the afternoon off, which is nice because it was payday and let me run some errands that needed done, and played dome golf...stop at the fruit and veg market on the way home and got some salad fixings and some asparagus, really nice stuff...
played some blogshares tonight and just hung out....cold seems to be getting much better....finally......

a real beautiful spring day, not to hot, just right....stopped and did what little grocery shopping i needed to do....after the excesses of the last week or two all i really needed was some fruit and a few odds and ends...went to choir although the voice is still on the mend, and then had a long chat with a friend.....haven't done that for a while.
i'm tried tonight but only have two more work days this week, plant is closed saturday so i won't have to go in even for a few hours.....i hope.....never seems to work out the way i plan though...nite all

another off day, cool and rainy but not bad, went to rehearsal and it took most of it to get my voice loosened up...just a slow night....nothing shakin'.....
