   It had been raining all morning and just after 11:00 had almost all of my major game play completed and there was a "hole" in the storm so decided to take the walk I've been putting off since last week to Price Chopper..but decided to skip the visit to T J Maxx and stop at the convenience store instead..so I get ready..dressed,,decided to put my windbreaker/rain vest on..and was glad I did because I did experience a few brief periods of very light rain..so I got almost to Price Chopper..dummkopf..I'd forgotten my accused mask..back to the rooms...[when I walk I carry one of two sling bags..this evening I've placed a mask in each one..something I probably should have done a long time ago]..at Price Chopper..garlic..shallots..red bell pepper..prepared horseradish..vegetable bouillon cubes..two pre-made burritos..&..I've been using the same brand of mayo for several years and for the last few years have been able to get that brand made with olive oil..had opened the last bottle a couple of days ago but when I looked for it they were out of the olive oil type..dang..so it's back to the classic..but in a squeeze bottle..and then off to the convenience store for my tube of chew..and a nice chat with the store manager who I've known for the last nine years or so..ever since I moved into this neighborhood..been stopping there almost since the beginning..../....due to the extended walk..due to my classic brain fart..I've been running behind schedule and only watched a little of the NCIS marathon on the USA network..but have most of my adult ducks in-a-row has I write this post..now the ducklings are another story entirely..those little ones are wandering around all over..and need to get them inline..ergo..nite all

   It's been raining on & off all day and based on the most recent forecast the first really break in the rain won't be until Friday afternoon..so look like another couple of days that I'll spend in my "fortress of solitude"..not that I mind..awoke a little later that normal and my joints have been a little sorer and stiffer than/usual..but that's not surprising after dealing with the problem(s) some for over 50 years..I've had chronic tendonitis in both knees since a wrestling injury when I was 15 years old..and am therefor well aware of the effects that damp weather and falling barometric pressure have on my joints..so I've been gimping around most of the day....[a slight pause while on take some chip drops from the three free "live: games I play]....so have spent may day online with only a couple of walks once to the lobby this afternoon for my afternoon cup of toffee coffee and earlier to check to see being that today was a Tuesday to check with housekeeping to see about what time the would arrive to clean my rooms  and bring me fresh linens..so that I won't could plan to be offline when they came..as it turned out I had all but the timed drops and "Day's End" done and was watching an episode of "Rizzoli & Isles" when they came..../....Still have a few tasks to complete and I think another long hot shower to appease my stiff..sore joints is in order..a snack and maybe a little more "Rizzoli & Isles" before I take my leave of the day and take my rest..ergo..nite all....

   According to the forecast the rains are coming starting early morning tomorrow and with them cooler temperatures..which I don't mind a bit..Autumn has always been my favorite season of the year..over slept a little this morning and have been scrambling all day to get everything done..but one of the things that had to be done today because of the rain predicted from tomorrow morning through Friday was a trip to Aldi..just the usual fare save for a package of dry salami..I had seen it before but always ended up with a different cold cut..about 13:00 got quite hungry and rather then spend the time to make my usual mid-day rustic egg-white frittata decided to make a couple of sandwiches from the dry salami on some nice small hard rolls I have..a little oil and balsamic vinegar..basil..oregano..a little hot mustard..red pepper flakes..cracked black pepper..and some grated sharp cheddar..and popped in the microwave got 75 seconds..and very satisfying..../....despite the fact that the barometric pressure is "dropping like a stone" physically have felt pretty good today..but I've nonetheless been in a pretty grumpy mood..not sure why..little things have been getting me irritated..??..on the other hand I did defrost the last of my three small frigs and had left the one that is always the biggest hassle to last..and it was long overdue..so that might have something to do with my bad mood..but when this post is completed all of today's tasks will be completed save for "Day's End" on all three live games and a brief summary posting to "Trollie's Game Room"..and one more thing to do..ergo..nite all....

   My back has been bothering me a little today I have a condition called Scoliosis which developed during a growth spurt when I was 11 or 12 years old..aka: a curved spins..my right shoulder is about 2 or 3 inched below my left when I stand normally..well it's normal for me..and I hardly ever notice it..but today whether it was the slightly heavier than normal weight in my sling bag..which once full I always sling behind me so it "rides" in the small of my back..or the fact that after the last couple of days with the barometric pressure above 30.00"..it's been falling for the last few hours..and it's been known to get my knees, feet & hips complaining..so take your pick or maybe a combination of factors..my age might have something to do with that as well..and earlier I had been sitting at the computer for awhile and when I got up my left hip decided to complain as well..ergo..I think I'll take it easy tonight and not take the stroll around the grounds I had been contemplating..../....a check of the weather forecast has changed a little..clear & warm tomorrow..then Tuesday thru Friday..cooler and rain all four days..but only AM showers on Wednesday & Thursday"..ergo..will still take my walk to Aldi tomorrow provided my joints and back are agreeable..and maybe the walk to Price Chopper/T J  Maxx in the afternoon of Wednesday or Thursday..../....did take the short walk to Aldi & Dollar General late morning..just a few of the usual fare..and that's before my joints and back started complaining..../....among other things have spent some of my time this afternoon defrosting 2 of my 3 small refrigerators..both long overdue..basically I usual wait until the door won't close or there is something I want to eat that's frozen solid to the freeze compartment..bad Trollie..no biscuit..it's frozen solid..oy vey..../....I am contemplating something I never though I'd do..the political/lawsuit/huckster ads on Youtube are starting to drive me nuts..and I'm actually considering paying a monthly fee to go ad free..I had a friend at work when I once said to him that the job was driving me crazy responded with "There's no reason to drive..all I'd have to do is take you by the hand and walk you across the street..you're that close"..../....just a few tasks to complete and I think my joints would thank me if I took a very hot shower..ergo..nite all....

  Because I no longer drive..my night vision is substandard as well as in off weather and considering the simple fact that because of my essential tremors..if I were to have one in a critical situation while driving there is a strong possibility that I might be unable to control the car..and I won't put myself or anyone else at risk..ergo..it made sense to me to give up my licence to drive..besides I live where I'm a 15 minute radius walk from everything I need..including my doctor's office..but because I walk I keep a sharp eye on the extended forecast..so while checking this afternoon I discovered although tomorrow and Monday will be rain free..it's forecast to rain Tuesday thru Friday morning..ergo I will in all likelihood forego the walk to Price Chopper/T J Maxx I had penciled in for Monday and walk to Aldi instead..and then on the other hand with the total unpredictability of weather here in the Northcountry of New York State..when I check the weather tomorrow the forecast might be total different..I've mentioned before the adage up here.."If you don't like the weather..wait 15 minutes..it will probably change"..and my corollary to the adage is "probably for the worse"..../....Slept fairly well last night save for a couple of very weird dreams..and was up about my usual time..my online gaming to day was with mixed results,,but have had an enjoyable day..save for an afternoon stroll  round the grounds here and a trip to the lobby this morning for some breakfast items have spent the day in my rooms..../....on  my way back to my rooms this morning saw one of the other residents I've known for quite awhile out smoking..and stopped to say hello and there was a new kid on the block..I knew that someone had moved in a few doors down from me but had never see them..a nice lady in her early 40s..a health care worker..and we had a nice chat..have also watched a bit of one of the fast & furious movies..../....the end of the day draws near and still a few things to do before I take my rest..ergo..nite all....

....Been a quiet but enjoyable day..got up right around 04:00..and after taking chip drops on all three of the free live games I play..checking in on the FB groups "The Farthest Side" where I'm a moderator..and then off to post yesterday's results form the sims & solitaire games I play..and then beginning my online game playing day....pretty much the same schedule I follow every day..../....just before 09:00 took the walk I had penciled  in yesterday to first Big Lots..I never actually or rarely anyways go there with something specific in mind..but always seems that there a at least a couple of items that insist on coming back to my rooms with me..a few months ago I found while there a box of White tea bags..made with Baihao Yinzhen [link]..it's a very nice light tea which I really enjoyed..problem was I've looked for it again and they never had any more..ergo..I've been very miserly with said tea and only drinking it from time to time..and to my great joy found that they had gotten more..so a box of that and an old fashion..black cherry soda found it's way in to my basket..[[notes]: the soda has already been consumed..and my dictionary here now recognizes "Baihao Yinzhen"]..off to Aldi just the usual..bananas..green onions..a quart of liquid egg-whites..three bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..a round of smoked gouda..and another container of the cotija cheese..it's in the Aldi finds section so once it's gone..it might never be there again..and am still planning a walk to Price Chopper / T J Maxx..but might decide to wait until Monday..Saturday/Sunday are busy days both places anyways and with the added delays because of the CV-19 protocols the checkout lines move at a snail's pace..../....mid-afternoon I  took my usual walk by way to and from the lobby for my afternoon toffee coffee..besides my online activities have watch some of the episodes of "Bones" on TNT..have sometime before I have to deal with my end of day routine on my live games..haven't decided whether to watch more "Bones" or exercise my old bones with a walk around the grounds here..in either case..nite all....

   I awoke at a more normal for me this morning and logged on tho the net right @04:00..and had one of my better sessions on the free live poker game I play..was thinking of maybe taking a walk to Price Chopper & Aldi  but have some thought..decided that I really didn't need to today..but physically felt a little off this morning and since it was one of my longer walks..Price Chopper & T J Maxx and I could take that any day within the next three or four days..mostly just for pantry items decided to delay to another day..although I did take my walk to the lobby twice this afternoon..once by way of the parking lot for my afternoon coffee..on the way up..got to a spot where I could see the intersection and crosswalk I take when going to either Big Lots &/or Aldi..I had mentioned before that the walk lights had been out of order..and it's a dicey crossing even when they're operational..the left-hand turn arrow form the cross street is on at the same time ass the walk light and even though by state law the pedestrian has the right of way..it doesn't sometimes work out that way and I have had several close calls from drivers who either aren't paying attention..are distracted by smart phones..or are just in to of a hurry to care..so was relieved to see that the lights were in working order again..Aldi has been penciled in for tomorrow morning..when I got back to my rooms [yes I did remember my room-key-card today] I was checking my budget and as the end of the month is approaching decided to go back up to the lobby [by the hall this time] and pay my October rent..have spent the rest of the day as I always do..online..gaming..watch some of "Fast Five" on HBO..and parts of a couple of "Bones" episodes and will probably watch some episodes of "Beat Bobby Flay" on the Food Network..yup..by some standards a boring day..but not for me..I had very high stress job..and now that I'm retired I prefer a very orderly..perhaps over scheduled..very routine day..and because of my essential tremors the less stress the less the condition bothers me..../....Still just a few more tasks to accomplish so as/always..nite all....

    Although the weather was very nice all day it was my original intention to stay in my rooms all day..save for a quick trip to the lobby this morning for a few things from the breakfast buffet..but the day got off to a rather late start..went to bed about my normal time between 20:00 & 20:30 and generally get up one side or the other of 04:00..well I saw the clock about 02:30..and the next time I looked it was near 05:00..so my walk to the lobby normally around 07:00 was closer to 08:00..now at some point before the start of November..I will probably try to switch to a 05:00 to 21:00 schedule because at 02:00 on November first we will go off "Daylight Savings Time" and my current 04:00 will become 03:00..and maybe I try to start sliding my times now to accommodate..so the day got off to a slow start but was caught up by just after 14:00 so decided to work on my budget..realized that today was the day for  getting my "10 day walking around money"..and a I had been early last week so rather than get the usual amount..decided to just get a few dollars..decided to go up to the ATM..got out the door and realized in my hurry had forgotten my wallet and therefore my room-key-card..up to the lobby for a new one..some days I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached..oy vey..then up to the ATM..got my cash..looked at my balance and decided while I was there it was time to buy another CD..[certificate of deposit]..for a better interest rate..so into the bank and a visit with  the assistant manager..and while I was there deposited 20$ in my savings..New York State has a law that if an account is dormant for 2 years the state can claim the funds..so at least once a year I deposit a small amount so that  won't occur..kind of a pain in the tuckus..but better than dealing with the state..../....have watched bits and pieces of a couple of NCIS episodes..and may watch a little of "Wonder Woman" this evening..just a couple of the/usual end of the day's tasks to complete..ergo..nite all....

   Been an interesting day..got a decent night's sleep last night for a change..in fact overslept..never got logged on to the internet until just past 04:30..look In feel admit that my typical schedule might seem a little unconventional..okay maybe a little more  than a little..but it works for me..I have lived my life unconventionally..I'm a "dyed in the wool" nonconformist..and have been so since I was maybe 8 or 9 years old..so if it works for me..then that is what I do..../....but because of the late start I've been running behind most of the day..of course it didn't help matter's that I took an hour off from my normal routine to watch at episode of NCIS@08:00 and later a walk to Ollie's..was out of extra virgin olive oil..and have spent the last hour watching the first half of "Justice League"..decided to take a break from that and write this now and then catch the last  part of it before starting my /usual "Day's End" routine on my live games..besides it not like I haven't watch that flix at least a half dozen times..../....also the usual Tuesday interruption by the housekeeping staff..actually one of the many reasons I've chose to live in a hotel is there are things I really I'm unwilling or unable to do at my age..cleaning my rooms is one of them..../....My first year in college I had an evening job at a public library is the city where the college I attended was..one of my many tasks was to clean both the men's & ladies' restrooms..now I was a country raised 19 year old in the mid '60s..and thru experience knew quite well what to expect the conditions of the men's room would be..including what was written on the stalls..but from my innocents & naivete I was unprepared for the horror I discovered in the ladies' room..I thought the guys' room would be a mess but the ladies' was far worse..and some of the things I found written on the stall walls..and left laying around..oy gavalt..in any case I made a vow then & there never to do janitorial work ever again..and have keep that vow for lo these many years..../....the last half of "Justice League" awaits me..as does my "Day's End" routine..ergo..nite all....

   It was my original intention save for the short trip to the lobby just after 07:00 this morning to get a few items from the breakfast display..but then I got to thinking about it and decided that although I haven't received my Medicare card as of yet I do have the number..and I did owe a doctor's bill and since it's a very short walk from my lodgings decided to take the walk..pay my bill & give them the new card number..so when I have my appointment in about a month all will be as it should be..for those readers not from the USA,,Medicare is health insurance for those of us who are retired and receive Social Security benefits which come from a federally mandated retirement fund..when you are working a certain amount is deducted every week from your check that goes into that fund..and when you retire you are eligible for a month check based on your salary over the last 5 years of your employment..../....other then that short walk I have spent my day in my rooms..mostly online but I have watched in part a couple of episodes of "Rizzoli & Isles"..which today switch back to the beginning episodes of the series..which I much prefer over the later episodes..not only on this series but most..after many episodes the writers/produces start running out of decent plots and the shows become in my not so humble opinion..strange and convoluted..and at times just flat bizarre..[puts down his TV critic hat]..../....Haven't decided when but someday this week I think I'll take a walk to Price Chopper & T J Maxx & may even take a stop at The Dollar Tree..a couple of items I need at Price Chopper to replace items I use that are running low..the other two places just to see if something jumps off the shelf and demands to go home with me..../....the online day has been much as/usual..had some great games..some decent ones..some average one..and a couple of duds..but by-in-large it has been a quiet and uneventful day..just the way I like it..../....but still things to do..ergo..nite all....

   I not sure whether or not we got another frost/freeze last night..didn't look outside until after the sun had been up an hour or so..but there is another for this evening..so we'll see..../...had a pretty typical start time to my day and had the vast majority of my online play done by just before 09:00 and decided to not wait until tomorrow to take the walk I was planning to Aldi..among the usual fare there had some packages of import "Black Forest Speck"..one of absolute favorite cured meats..speck & prosciutto are both types of ham..prosciutto is air cured with salt & spices..speck is also cured with salt & spices but then is also smoked..funny thing is I thought I had grab one package and when I check out realized I had actually grabbed two..even better..some bananas..a package of plum tomatoes..a bottle of soy sauce..3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water [black raspberry]..2 small bottles of fruit flavoring for water..or what I call "21st Century Koolade" & container of crumbled blue cheese....and mid-afternoon took a walk via the parking lot to the lobby..got my afternoon toffee coffee..and then back the way I came with a sit-down on one of the outdoor benches to enjoy the afternoon breeze and my coffee..../....just before 13:00 I got a little hungry and realized it had been the better part of 5 hours since I had eaten my first meal of the day..and rather than have my /usual rustic egg-white frittata decided to make a sandwich with the last of some really nice deli roast beef I had..a little speck..some good cheddar..some olive oil..a few spices and into the microwave for 50 seconds..and then a happy stomach..after completing this post will be time for my daily shower..take my meds..and probably a nice rustic egg-white frittata..and then get ready to take care of what few things still remain to complete my day..ergo..nite all....

   One of the first things I do every morning after taking awaiting chip drops on the live games I play and checking on on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..is to get ready for my initial posting to "Trollie's Game Room"..and as I do here I always post the current weather for the Northcountry of NYS where I reside & decided what music I'll listen to while writing the post..a habit I picked up in college to drowned out the hubbub that is always present in college dorm/houses..when I checked the weather this AM just after 04:30 the local temperature was a "balmy" +31*F..so I looked outside and there was light dusting of ice crystals on the grass..just a light frost but a frost none the less..and although the forecast for overnight toning doesn't predict a temperature quite that low the breeze will be out of the north so it would not surprise me to see another dusting of frost tomorrow morning as well..I say bring it on..I've mentioned before that Fall/Autumn is my favorite season..and I enjoy the color of the fall leaves..however I never enjoyed the raking of the aforementioned leaves..but since I reside in a hotel that job is no longer my responsibility..speaking of responsibility..it reminds me of the old joke..this guy was interviewing for a new job..when asked if he was responsible..he replied "I must be"..when asked why he replied "every time something went wrong at my last job they said I was responsible"..../....Decided I'd take a walk around my favorite loop and have a sit-down at the benches at the corner of Arsenal St & Western Blvd..but since the convenience store is just a short walk on the far side of Western Blvd. and although I was a day or two early..decided to take the walk and get a roll  of chew..and when getting ready decided to wear a lined flannel shirt that I wear in cooler weather..had not worn it since March or April..and discovered in the left breast pocket..a pair of readers that I had "lost" those months ago..oy vey..when they came up missing I never thought to check there..just assumed I'd left them somewhere "dummkopf" ..../....just a few more things to do..last drops on the live games for the day..posting "Day's End" results to "Trollie's Game Room" and a last check in on the "Farthest Side"..and a snack is on thee horizon..ergo..nite all....

   The music I'm listening to this early evening is a collection mostly of Bach''s short cantatas..I've decided to pick chose selections from some of my playlists and put them together in loops of +/- an hour..by composer..theme..or style of music..this is the first attempt..../....As to the frost/freeze warning most are at a slightly higher elevation than the city I live in but it possible that we may get a light frost..a north wind this time of year always "drives" the temperature down..actually I sort of hope we do get a light frost..I have always liked the Fall weather and enjoy the Fall colors of the tree leaves..besides my two favorite sports to play were soccer & cross-country which in the USA are generally scheduled at the high school & college level during the Fall..besides once October came in this area most peeps were out hunting and left me an almost empty golf course to play on..../....got a bit of a late start to the day and not sure why but just felt a little "off" but physically and mental this morning..feel fine now but really have no explanation for it other that maybe the simple fact that I am 72 years old..../....but as I have said felt much better this afternoon & decided to take the short walk to Ollie's & Dollar General..I needed quart size storage bags [Ollie's} & a package of cookies [Dollar General} but as it almost always  happens..ended up with much more than I had intended..mostly snack food..but did actually get both items I had original gone out to get..doesn't always happen that way..despite the fact that I left my list in my rooms..../....I have adapted very well to the "new look" Facebook..in fact one new feature I really like..you have the option of changing the background from white to black..and it's much easier on these old eyes..the "new look" Blogger on the other hand..I find very annoying and a pain in my tuckus..however..it's a free site..and it would be too big of a hassle to move my blogs..I'm sure with more use I'll get it down..I'm quite sure if I  posted on a smart phone I would probably like it..so I'll just preserver [end rant]..../....still just a few tasks to finish..including this post..which is now almost done except for..nite all....

   I've had to make some adjustments in the layout here because Blogger had reformatted the software to make it easier for users who post to their blogs on mobile devices..the major change at least from my POV is that if you enter a line with the "enter" key you get a blank line between between the two..something I find unacceptable..ergo..it is my intention to have everything run together..even more than I already do..real not a serious issue here but it has given me fits on "Trollie's Game Room"...../....I spent sometime this morning trying to get things straightened out concerning my Medicare card..apparently I had forgotten to update my address and didn't receive my new card..and the old one was no good because the changed the id number from my SS number to a random one re-issued every year..tried to fix it online and over the phone with not so my sis offered to drive me to the Social Security Office [out of my walking range]..only to find it closed..but manage to reach someone on the cell phone and completed the process..my card will be here in a month or less but I have the new number and unless I have a problem my next doc's appointment isn't until mid-October so all is well..[knock wood]..../.... Slept some better last night..only to interruptions..and feel pretty good to day..and I have not just the Medicare card and the debit card problems behind me..so my mood is much better..../....Just before 15:00 decided that with most of my online gaming and tasks completed I took a walk to Aldi..just the usual fare..only thing was the walk-lights are still out of order where I need to cross the very busy Arsenal St...but was very careful got got across both ways with out incident..still a few tasks to complete..and I think maybe a sit-down outside my be in order..../...after viewing the forecast for the next 4 days..the overnight temperature for the next four days or so will be in the mid-30s F..can the first frost of the Fall be far away..speaking of far way..it's time that figuratively it was..ergo..nite all....

   Didn't sleep very well last night awoke 3 different times during the night and the last time was just after 03:00..and although I did "roll back over" a return to sleep evaded me..and I gave up and got up just after 03:30..and started my online day..although I have found time to watch all or parts of a couple of the episodes of NCIS on the USA network..
   I never received my new Medicare card and have been having trouble finding out the best way to get the new one..somehow or another I think that it got lost in the mails..I could try to get it online or over the phone but as I described a few days ago my difficulties trying to use a touch tone phone to activate my new debit card..I'm as we used to say back in the day "a little gun-shy"  about trying that again any time soon..besides I'm a little reluctant to enter my Social Security number over the phone or on a website..and the local SS office is outside my walking range but my sis has offered to drive me tomorrow morning and hopefully I can get that taken care of..[knock wood]....
   Other than my walk up to the lobby by way of the parking lot I have been in my rooms all day..online and watching TV..spent sometime on messenger with my sis trying to figure out my options and checking a few differnt sites..concerning my problem..but that not withstanding have got most of my online tasks done or nearly so except for last chip drops on the live games I play and entering "Day's End" on "Trollie's Game Room"..with the trip to the Social Security office tomorrow it will probably cut into my game time but at this point that is the priority..and besides..although I do
 enjoy my gaming and my duties as a moderator..sometimes the real world does manage to pry me out of my "fortress of solitude"..one or two more things to do..ergo..nite all....

   I guess some explanation may be prudent for the term ["Doo-Wop"]..it was style of music popular in the USA in the '50s & early '60s..and it's the pop music of my childhood..I was born in 1947 & entered the 7th grade in the fall of '61..and I've always enjoyed it..now I had included a couple of the Doo-Wop classics in my "Pop" playlist but after my wanderings around Youtube..found several recordings from that period and decided that they deserved a playlist of their own..and started it today..I'm sure more tunes and collections will be added in the coming days....
   When I was checking the weather this morning before my postings to "Trollie's Game Room"..the temperature at about 04:30 was +39*F..and when I walked to Aldi just after 09:00 the temperature had "warmed" all the way up to +48*F..I have mentioned before that Fall weather comes early here..and Winter can't be far behind..at Aldi got bananas..fruit flavored sparkling water..butter..green onions..both black & kalamata olives..and instead of the usual rolls decided to get plain bagels..I have some smoked salmon..and what better thing to go with smoked salmon than a bagel..besides will work with my usual selection of cold cuts....
   Had everything for the day done buy 14:00 and decided to get my afternoon cup of toffee coffee..with a twist..no didn't add lemon..took a walk around my loop..out the back door..thru the plaza parking lot up Western Blvd...a sit-down at the seating area at the intersection with Arsenal..then back by Arsenal..to the lobby..my cup of Joe and back to my rooms..oops forgot to mention when I walked this morning the walk lights on that crossing by Aldi were I have had many close calls with traffic were non-functional..thankfully the traffic was light & I got  there and back with no incidents..I do hope that the powers that be get them fixed quickly..otherwise there will be a problem..
   Time to consider the rest of the day..only a few tasks to complete..and I'm sure a snack will be one of those tasks..ergo..nite all..

   I mentioned in a below post my difficulties with getting my new debit card activated..so this morning just after 09:30..took the short walk up the the bank branch that I use..sat down in the assistant manager's office and within just a couple of minutes she with her nimble fingers on the keyboard had fixed the issue..and I then exited and got my "10 day walking around money"..now..based on this experience..if I ever have to activate a card again..I'm going to skip trying to do it myself and just go to the bank and let the people there take care of it for me....
   I had a very decent nights sleep only awoke during the night twice..the last just after 02:00..rolled back over and never saw the time again until nearly 05:00..so I started the day off a little behind my normal schedule..about noon was all but done..but then it dawned on me I had never eaten my first meal..dummkopf..so took care of that and then the short walk to Ollie's & Dollar General just the typical bits & pieces....
   Other then that save for my afternoon walk to the lobby to get my toffee coffee..and a stop at housekeeping to get some small garbage bags that in was out of have spent the rest of my day in my rooms..the usual online games and fulfilling my duties as a moderator on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..and have watched a couple of the episodes of "Rizzoli & Isles" on the Lifetime network..also have spent the usual times both posting here & on "Trollie's Game Room"..and "kicking around" Youtube looking for videos to add to my playlists....
   Still some free chip drops to take care of on my three "live" games..and may play a couple more games on the Hearts sim I play..and then "Day's End" on "Trollie's Game Room"..and I'm sure a snack or two will present themselves..ergo..nite all....

   It didn't rain near as much as predicted but it has been throughout a very damp..dreary day..humid day..a day on which I really had originally  no intention to walk but with the "fun" 1 had yesterday trying to get my new debit card activated..[see below post]..decided to go to the ATM and check it out..if I had understood the "canned" voice correctly..I didn't need to re-enter my pin unless I wanted to change it.."Well Wilbur"..[in the voice of "Ed" the talking horse]..seems I was mistake..misinformed..or..??..because I got "invalid pin"..oy vey..no big deal really didn't need to get my "10 day walking around money" for a couple of days..but wanted to check whether all was well..which it obviously ain't..so will go to the bank tomorrow and get it straightened out..did I every mention how much I hate dealing with the now ever present automated world..and preferred it when I could deal with a living..breathing human being..if I haven't I have how....
   Today is the 1st Sunday of American style professional football..several games on the old boob tube..of which I have nor watched any..used to enjoy the game in years past..but of late the explosion of celebrating after almost any halfway decent play has kinda soured me on it..and now the game or at least the commentary sounding it has become politicized..and a forum for political and social issues..now I understand it's an election year here in the USA..and the players certainly have a right to their opinions..but it shouldn't be during the game..let them speak on their own time as it were..let's keep the game a game..not a bully pulpit..well that's just my 2 cents..but I have no intention of watching any of it until order is restored..[end rant]....
   With all of my live games/sims & solitaire games in working order things have returned to as near as normal as possible..and have spent save for my trip to the bank a quite pleasant day..just a few more "winkles to iron out" and to bed..ergo..nite all....

   When I picked up my mail at the front desk when I was in the lobby to get my afternoon toffee coffee..found along with a bank statement for one of my accounts..I found a letter with my new debit card..and instructions on how to activate it over the telephone..the instructions were well written and easy to understand..but trying to input long numbers using a touch key phone..when you have essential tremors..and sometimes will hit the wrong key..or double hit a key..or clip the one next to it..after uncounted attempts..I whispered a short prayer..and got it done on the next try..the main problem was since it was the weekend there wasn't any actual living, breathing, person to bail me out..but in the end I got it done..I have similar problems when typing entries to my blogs..and tho from time to time I have made disparaging remarks about spell check..but with out it these entries would be a mess..
    I'm not sure why but I can't get any of my three live games to load today..all I connect to thru Facebook and although two are games from the same company..the third is not..I also tried some of the live games offered by Facebook and some of them didn't load either..??..don't have guess one as to what the problem is....
   But since I had extra time on my hands..I walked around 08:00 to the convenience store to get my chew..and later a trip to Ollie's..a bag of beef jerky & a container of oregano..& Dollar General..a package of cookies..a cherry pocket pies..&..a six-pack of 7.5 oz Dr Pepper....
   With nothing worth my time to watch on the TV have spent the majority of my time "hanging out" on Youtube..all that's left of my online day is a final post to "Trollie's Game Room"..and check in on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..and offline I hear a cherry pocket pie calling my name..ergo..nite all....

   I had originally decided not to walk today..being 9/11 even though the events occurred 19 years ago the mood of some might be a little on edge..and add to that the CV-19 continuing restrictions have some peeps "on edge" and just to add a little more stress it's a presidential election year in the USA..but had a break just about 09:00..and decided to go and get what I needed at Aldi..nothing out of the usual fair and without incident..now I had penciled in a walk Sunday to the convenience store..and in retrospect the fact that I did the Aldi walk today was a wise choice..howbeit by whim and not by design..because the advanced forecast for Sunday is for rain beginning about 08:00 and continuing throughout the day light hours..so maybe will take that walk tomorrow..stores are in the opposite direction..
   Speaking of 9/11..I had at the time been sing with the local Northcountry Choral Society..we sang mostly classical/baroque/liturgical music..and our first rehearsal for the traditional first weekend in December concert series was always the first Sunday in October..now over the past winter the founder of the group had pasted away..and when the committee met in June to plan the program the decided to include a new arrangement of the piece "The Soul's of the Righteous are in the Hands of God"..a piece were the first 2/3rd of the piece are in a minor key..and the note(s} in the chord(s} called the "suspended note" the one that makes it a minor was in the tenor part..the part I sang..but it took us three or four runs through before we did lose part of the choir to tears..but the neat part of the piece..is about 2/3rd of the way through the piece the tenors have a run starting at low C and when we hit a G above middle C on the word "God"..we're on the same pitch as the Altos and the cord resolves to a major..and it's like the dark clouds part and the sun shines through..but at all three performances the audience react was dead silence for about 15 seconds..and then in some cases a standing "O"..a beautiful piece of music to listen to..and even better if you are as I was in the middle of that music being made..unfortunately I have searched high & low on Youtube and can't find a video of that particular arrangement..
   Still a few details to complete before the day comes to an end..ergo..nite all....

...This is my first attempted to use the "new improved Blogger"..I guess it the blogging equivalent of the "new normal"..so  it's easier for the mobile blogger..which I ain't..maybe I can blame my bad spelling and syntax on it..nah....

   Anyways have had a decent day..a better nights sleep than the last couple of nights..pounding along and was all but done with the bulk of the online gaming by noon..but just before I started feeling very tired..bur soldered on..and then took a break..got something to eat..and felt much better..guess I was just hungry..and later decided to take a run to Price Chopper & T J Maxx..and as soon as I was out and walking was feeling good..guess I just needed the exercise and fresh air..just some garlic..shallots..peppers..checked to see if they had a boule..they did but the only ones they had had been pre-sliced..and I would much prefer un-sliced..so I past on that..but did hit the deli counter and got a couple of slices of roast beef..for a change of pace..and then a quick trip up to T J Maxx..and found a bottle of black pepper corns which I was out of..so a fairly successful shopping trip..but just a couple of 100 yds. before I got back to my rooms..this time it was a mild twinge from my right knee asking if "We were there yet?"....

   The rest of the day has been spent as it almost always is..online..but I did take a break around 08:00 to eat mt typical first meal and watch an NCIS episode which happened to be one of my favs..and again about 13:00 to eat my /usual mid-day rustic egg-white frittata and watched an episode of Treehouse Masters..

   Still as /usual just the last few details of the day to wrap-up before I take my rest..do as/always..nite all....

   I had forgotten to mention yesterday that on my way home from my walk to Big Lots & Aldi had had felt a slight twinge of pain from my left knee..and all I could think of was when my daughter was 4 or 5 years old we were handed to visit her maternal grandparents..a trip just over 200 miles..and had just left the city we live in and had gotten on the interstate highway and I heard from the backseat "Are We there yet"...well when I felt that twinge from the left knee all I could think of that it was saying.."Are We back to the rooms yet?"..and every so often today I've "heard" from both that knee and my right foot.."You weren't planning to walk anywhere today..were You?"..Truth be told I had nothing planned for today other then the short walk twice to the lobby..once for the breakfast buffet and the other for my afternoon toffee coffee..so other then the occasional twinge they've behaved today..through sport as a youth & occupationally I have done some major damage to several of my joints..so I am quite used to there protests and unless unavoidable..take their advice..because I'm well aware of the results from failure to heed them..before I made some major life style/dietary changes..be three years ago in October..there were times that I needed two canes to get from my chair/bed to get to the "little boy's room"..now if out of my rooms I still carry a cane but it's more on account of the balance issues I experience do to the affects of essential tremor..than because of pain and stiffness from my joints..still occurs occasionally but with less frequency and less sever....
   Have spent the day as/usual except for it being Wednesday have watch some of the NCIS episodes..the usual live games/sims/solitaire..and fulfilling my duties as a moderator on the FB group "The Farthest Side" and of course tending to my 3 blogs..and still a few tasks yet to be completed and maybe a little more NCIS..but definitely there is a snack in my future..ergo..nite all....

   Awoke early and decided there was no point in trying to get anymore sleep so was up just past 03:30 and online by 03:45..now I had mentioned that the online free poker game I play was offline since last Friday..well I had check a couple of time early and still down..but right after 07:00 checked again so we're back at it..had drops on all three live games just before 10:00 so decided it was as good a time as ant for my planned walk to Big Lots & Aldi..so off I went to Bid Lots first..it was after all the far point on this walk..and I always go to the farthest first and then stop to the other(s} on the way back..something happened at Big Lots that has rarely every happened before..I never actually go there to get a specific item..but being an  outlet..almost always find something I didn't know I needed until I saw it there..well today..nothing tickled my fancy enough to take it home..then off to Aldi..a package of rolls..bananas..3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..a bottle of fruit flavoring for water..what I call "21 century koolade"..and another container of cotija cheese..and to follow the rare advents of the day..actually took my shopping list..got everything on it..and..didn't get anything else..I didn't say I didn't look..just didn't find anything I just had to try....
   Have spent the day as I always do online..have watched almost no TV..nothing on that was worth the time..but since poker has been down and the lack of anything to post about it I've been constantly adjusting the layout on "Trollie's Game Room: to adjust for it's absents..now that it's back..have to re-adjust for it's  presents..oy vey..but am happy to do it..I enjoy the game and would miss playing it..
   Wednesday being one of the better days of programming on TV..and the fact that I've no reason to walk for supplies will probably spend tomorrow in my rooms..save for a stroll around the grounds here to stretch my legs..well the day goes short and still a few tasks to deal with..ergo..nite all....

   One of the pieces in "The Mix" tonight is "Wellington's Victory" by Beethoven..way back when I had a vinyl recording in stereo..the neat part was to listen to it with stereo headphones..you would hear the instruments representing the British in one ear and those representing the French in the other and the main orchestra in both..neat effect....
   Every time I look at the weather forecast today it's changed..at once point the rain was predicted to start @13:00 thru 03:00..I hesitate to look again..because a blizzard might be predicted next..on the other hand..except for curiosity I really didn't care because I had no reason to venture out more then a walk around the grounds here so for all I cared they could have been predicting the zombie apocalypse...ah the walk..just up to the lobby and back for my afternoon toffee coffee..by the parking lot..well when I got back to my rooms I realized that some dummkopf had forgotten to take his wallet & therefore didn't have his room key-card..oy vey..so back up to the lobby to get a new one..[by way of the hall]..back to the room..key-card wouldn't work..oy vey..so back up to the lobby..got 2 this time..back to the rooms and this time they worked..well my dad was always fond of saying "if you don't have it in you head.,you must have it in your feet"..but I think he meant it figuratively..well today that adage played out way to literally for my liking..[the Mad-One just shakes his old grey head]....
   The live Poker game I play is still down..so have spent the day besides the other usual online games and  minding the "store" on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..have spent time wandering Youtube for new videos..found some good ones to add to several of my playlists....
   Assuming that it doesn't rain tomorrow a trip to Big Lots & Aldi has been penciled in..along with the usual daily routine..as/for today..another routine awaits..ergo..nite all....

   Got an early start to my online day..was on @03:46..and the online free poker game I play was still down..so without the block of time I usually spend in the morning on that game was all but down with the majority of my online play by 10:00..[usually between play and posting results to "Trollie's Game Room" spend on the order of an hour & a half on that game]..I had mentioned last night that I would probably take a walk to Aldi & the ATM..either today or Monday..but with the rain tomorrow and the extra time decided to walk this morning about 10:00..actually didn't get any bananas..have sufficient until Tuesday and double that walk with a stop at Big Lots..but did get asparagus..3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..a bottle of green olives..a block of feta cheese and some prosciutto..and as I past by the "Aldi finds" section saw a container of grated cotija cheese..a mexican cheese which I have been wanting to try but the only other time I saw it they wanted as we would have said back in the day "an arm & a leg" for it..and without every having it I was unwilling to "spring" for it..but this was quite affordable..I had always heard that it was similar to parmesan cheese in taste..but by tasting..not exactly but similar..and when I go to Aldi Tuesday will probably grab another container or two to squirrel away..and then took the slight detour up the hill to the ATM for my "ten day walking around money"..and mid-afternoon a walk to the lobby for my afternoon toffee coffee..by way of and back via the parking lot..and a sit-down on one of the outdoor benches to drink the coffee and enjoy a very pleasant day..speaking of squirrel as I went out the back door on my walk for toffee coffee was confront by a grey squirrel about 4 feet from the door..and as soon as I opened the door the little guy beat feet..in a hurry..back in the day when I hunted..hunting grey squirrel was one of my favorite hunts..a love me some squirrel meat chili....
   But just a few things to do before I take leave of the day..and probably my senses as well..but before one or the other occurs I will bid you a goodnight....

   Sometime in the next couple of day's need to make a run over to Aldi and either there or back a stop at the ATM for my "10 day walking around money"..Monday would be the normal day but my take that walk tomorrow..got a late start to the day..well at least for me..awoke an saw the clock..03:25..decided to roll back over..never saw the clock again until 04:30..the online free poker game I play is still down..but at  this point will just check back from time to time..it has been off-line before..so at this point it isn't a big deal besides I have check out other sites and none suit me as well as this one does..besides starting over again isn't a thing I'd choose willingly to do..but worse comes to worst I will..have spent more time on the other two live games I play..a blackjack game and a poker slots..both free games..both off Facebook....
   Particularly because of the poker game being down I was done quite early with my online play so decided to walk..not really looking for anything but make stops at Ollie's & Dollar General..but found a bottle of balsamic vinegar that I've had before and enjoyed..a box of nut bars..a box of danish butter cookies [that were 75% off]..and a bag of pork rinds..when I went to check out it was one of my fav "kids"..I walked up and was greeted by "Here's trouble" which I responded to "Hi double trouble"..our standard formal greeting to each other..and a nice chat..off to Dollar General..I grab a basket and went looking..and all I got was a package of replacement leads for my mechanical pencils..and said to the checkout girl..[another of my favs that I hadn't seen for several weeks]..and said I have no idea why I got a basket..she ribbed me a little but another good chat..so an enjoyable and pleasant walk....
   With the poker game down..very little still to take care of..and zero..nadda..ziltch..on the old boob tube..ergo..may take another short walk or just wander Youtube &/or Google and see what I can find..ergo..nite all....

   The weather today was more to my liking..lower 70s F most of the day and a pretty stiff breeze..not one of my better nights sleep with the usual interruptions to deal with the effects of taking a diuretic..the last two toes on my left foot decided to curl up and scream at me [aka: a cramp{..so i'd get them straighten out and a brief time later they were at it again..final after the fourth time they relaxed..oy vey..as a former distance runner/soccer mid-fielder..foot and leg cramps and I are well acquainted..a little too well from my perspective..but then I did do the "damage" so I guess I guess I have to accept the occasional outbursts..more commonly in my case it's the whole right foot registering the complaint....
   Had when thinking about it had planned to walk to the convenience store over the weekend but the day was at the point about 09:00 that all the ducks were pretty much in a row so decided to take it then..very pleasant walk it 'twas..just a nice breeze..had a nice chat with one of the ladies that works there..but really enjoyed the cooler weather..and then mid-afternoon  a stroll thru the parking lot to the lobby for my afternoon toffee coffee..the breeze had picked up a little at that point and was quite cool..and me thinks a smelled &/or felt a little Fall in the air..Fall can arrive early here at this latitude..we're just maybe 30 miles "as the crow flies" from the Canadian border..province of Ontario..just across the St. Lawrence river....and was thinking can the first frost be that far away..Fall has always been my favorite season for many reasons..the colors of Autumn..the cooler weather..and the season in the States for the "real football" that we're forced to call soccer & cross-county..running up and down hills..thru woods and fields..on the home course where I ran..jumping a small stream..and trying to finish ahead of the dudes in the other colored singlets....

   A decent night's sleep and a pretty typical start to my online day..just after 04:00..and was pretty much done with both my sims & solitaire play and the major part of my postings to "Trollie's Game Room by just before 09:00..and decided that that was as good a time as any to take the walk over to Aldi..had a longer list than /usual..and remembered to take a pocket of change as well..apparently there is some sort of shortage in change available to businesses here so they ask if you can to pay in exact amount..or by credit or debit card [aka: a check card..draws money off your checking account]..now I don't have a credit card..and will never have one again if I can help it..past difficulties not of my doing..but I paid the "tab"..and would rather not use the debit card..therefore..just to be safe put 3 quarters..3 dimes..3 nickels & 5 pennies in my pocket..a tad of over kill but knew it would work..3 bananas..both red & green onions..a quart of liquid egg-whites..a package of nut bars..a bar of good german dark chocolate..3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..a 1/2 lb of irish butter..& a nice piece of a very nice sharp cheddar..had a nice chat with one of the managers..whose hubby used to work as the maintenance man at the hotel I live in..and now works for the city water department..she complained that she was having difficult breathing thru the mask when stocking shelves..and I had seen some of the clear plastic face shields at Ollie's the other day..and she said she'd have to check that out..and told her to say hello to her "worse half" for me..and this afternoon just the short walk to the lobby..by-way-of the parking lot & some fresh air for my afternoon cup of toffee coffee..have watched a little boob tube today..an episode of "Rizzoli & Isles"..a part of the movie "G.I.Jane" and probably catch part of the episodes of "Beat Bobby Flay" on the "Food Network"..
   Still just a couple of loose ends to tie up before as we said back in the day..I hit the hay..ergo..nite all....

    Although it has rained on and off most of the day there weather wasn't near as bad as predicted..and although I was safely tucked away in my "fortress of solitude"' all day didn't see nor hear any evidence of the predicted T-storms..but rather that a solid front of storms..they were small and  intermittent..but there again I live in a very sound cement block structure and unless there was a lightening strike close by I'd probably never hear the thunder not see the flash of lightening..besides I have only about 10% hearing left quite appropriately in my left ear..and about 50% in the right..
   Decent night's sleep and up just after 04:00..it isn't for any other reason then it works for me..took a break from gaming around 08:00..an NCIS episode I like and  had my usual first meal..a banana..a yogurt..a bottle of cold bouillon..a jazzed up glass of tomato juice and some muffins..eaten while watching NCIS..I have never eaten much in the morning right after awakening..when I was working I had to be in the plant most days at 07:30..got up just before 07:00..had a a cup of coffee and off to work..then around 10:00 took a break..got a V8 juice from the juice machine and a sandwich from the machine..and usually didn't eat again until mid afternoon..but had a big meal at suppertime..but now I find that rather than three meals a day..it works better for me after first meal to eat several small meals about every two hours through out the day..Now the year I was running cross/country..and training for the Boston Marathon..one of the freshmen as part of a biology project had to get other's daily caloric intake and figure calories/day..mind you I was just under 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed 145 lbs...and her results were I average 7,500 calories a day..and didn't gain an once..I guess that running 75 to 100 miles a week at a training pace of 5:30/mile will burn those calories off..now as an older adult I sometimes think I can gain weight by merely looking at a picture of a candy bar..oy vey....
   Just a few more tasks to complete before my day is done..ergo..nite all....

   Well the Youtube "bot" is at it again..while running done my listing of playlists looking for "Tyrol/Folk"..I saw that my "chant" playlist had been changed to "vocals"..again..oy vey..now I freely admit that all chants are vocals..but all vocals aren't chants..and chants are the only style of music on that playlist..and with the except of a couple of greek/eastern orthodox chants..the rest are all Gregorian..I suppose I could deal with the change but the playlist is "public"..and listed as "vocals" would in my mind be both deceptive..non-specific and not atall accurate....
   Not quite as good a night's sleep as last night but was up and at'um by just a tad after 04:00..and had virtually everything done by just before 11:00.knew that housekeeping usual comes in between 11:00 & 13:00 every Tuesday decided to take the next couple of hours rather then start something and get interrupted..I had bought some redskin potato salad from Aldi..just the potatoes and the dressing..good..but..the addition of chopped shallots..chipped green onions..a chopped boiled egg..some chopped green olives..not to forget..black sea salt..black pepper..and some basil..and that's what I call a very good dish of potato salad..and watched a little "Rizzoli & Isles"..I much prefer Sasha Alexander in the role of Isles then I did in the role of Kate on NCIS..and as far as Angie Harmon goes..well..enough said....
   Have spent the rest of the day as I prefer to do and except for a walk to see when housekeeping was coming..and a short walk up to the lobby just before I sat down to compose this post for an afternoon cup of toffee coffee [that walk by-way-of the parking lot] have spent the rest of my day online..sims/solitaire/live games..minding my mod duties on the FB group "The Farthest Side" and searching YouTube for new videos and tunes..and checking my other FB groups..and have commented on a few posts..in-other-words..just a normal day for this retired..gimpy..grump..old codger..and with the bad weather predicted for the daylight hours tomorrow..expect tomorrow to be much like today..but still one or two things to deal with..ergo..nite all....
