[Wednesday's Hi/Lo:+46*F/+31*F_mostly sunny]....[Now Playing on <The Mix><]....
It was mid to high 40's this morning with a pretty stiff breeze and overcast..but needed a few things from both Ollie's and Dollar General..so walked just after 10:00..one of my fav clerks was working the register at Ollie's and we had a nice chat and one of the kids that works there stopped and chatted for awhile..just a bottle of dish washing detergent and a couple of packages of peppered beef jerky..then to Dollar General..a jug of a generic veggie juice, a bottle Gatorade zero sugar and a package of cookies..snicker doodles..one of the clerks there teases me about hording them..I used to love the things when I was as we would have said back in the day a whimper snapper by my elder's opinion..hadn't see them in years and saw them a few weeks ago..and no surprise I still love them now..
Spent the day on line as I always do..but about 15:00 decided to go to the lobby to get my afternoon toffee coffee..but the sunny had broken through and decided to take the long way..walked my loop..had a sit-down at the benches on the corner of Arsenal & West Blvd, as I often do..and enjoyed the warmth of the sun..then back thru the lobby and coffee in hand back to my rooms..
I'm sitting here at my computer [obviously] and glanced at the clock in the bottom left corner of the screen and realized that I have the last action of the day coming up on "Video Poker Live"..another of the free sites I play at..speaking of time..although I never was in the military I have computer clock set to the option of military time..aka:a 24 hour clock..because the plant I worked at for 35 years ran 24 hours a day..and the last few years 7 day's a week all our time clocks and such were set on a 24 hour clock..and I just got used to it..
Time is flying here so I will take my leave and wish one and all a Good night....

It had been my firm intention to stay in my rooms today and wait to walk to Aldi tomorrow when there was no rain in the forecast..but when walking back from the lobby with my traditional afternoon toffee coffee past by one of the exits and saw one of the other residents outside smoking..and it wasn't raining so logged on to the "Weather Channel" website [that's the site I get the weather info that I  post on my blogs]..and there was a very inviting hour and a half hole in the rain..so went back to my rooms..got dressed for my walk..grabbed my sling bag and off I went..nothing out of the ordinary save for a small round of very good English cheddar..although they don't have it in stock all the time..in the Aldi's "finds" section there from time to time have a selection of very good imported cheeses at a very acceptable price..usually in four to six oz. rounds or wedges..now you are still paying 16 to 20 dollars a pound..[4 to 5 dollars for the round or wedge]..but I love good cheese and I am always willing to pay a little more to get it..besides I buy and pay slightly less for the good local cheese I cook with..New York State has some excellent cheddar and there is an Amish community that makes both cheddar and blue cheese..but the imported ain't for cookin' it's saved for eatin'..couple of thin slices of good cheese..and some good sausage..and a few crackers..wheat thins are my preferred choice..almost forgot..also some good olives, maybe some pepperoncini or some caper berries..make up one of my fav snacks....add a hard boiled egg or two..or maybe devil the eggs..and you've got a very fine light meal..I tend to rather than eat 3 big meals a day to rather eat four or five light meals/snacks during the day..
Have spent the rest of the day quietly and mostly online..watched some of the movie "Fast Five" on HBO..earlier..but more often then not in the evening as I am tonight it's an older flick off Youtube..still a few things to deal with so I will bid you a Good-Day and Goodnight....

It's been a damp..dreary..windy day with the same on-tap for tomorrow..I have a built in barometer..four actually..both feet and both knees..the knees by way of chronic tendinitis in both knees since I was 15 years old [that's 57+ years ago]..when I was 20 years old I went to a top orthopedic surgeon..who told me I  had the knees of a 65 year old man..my response was  "who is he and I'll give them back"..and feet with multiple injuries and just wear and tare over the years from sport and spending 35 years on a cement factory floor..and ever time the barometric drops my knees and feet get quite stiff/snore and start to sing a very low off pitch dirge..if they really complain a topical analgesic cream does give some relief..but not enough to contemplate any long walks....
Ergo..I was basically in my rooms all day today and will be in my rooms tomorrow as well..the majority of my issues with my knees and feet happen usual when the weather is in transition between seasons..spring to summer and summer to fall don't usual give me too much trouble..but fall to winter and winter to spring are the times that I have the real issues..well of course there are the times that I over do..or pull a klutz or dummkopf move..which I have done in my life more times than I can count....
Did take a little time off from my online activities and watch some of the movie "Justice League"..have seen it a  couple of times but it's one of the very few "Super Hero" flix that I like atall..haven't as of yet checked the TV listings for tomorrow..I use the online service "Passport"..which when we are on Eastern Daylight Savings Time[UTC-4]..changes to the next days programming @20:00..
Anyways still things to do..so will say..nite all..

It hand been my original intend not to walk today..and then decided that I was almost out of fresh peppers..now this fact I would have survived..but I was nearly out of fresh garlic as well..but no fresh garlic is an entirely differnt matter..well..I wanted to walk and the garlic and peppers which I did need..made a good excuse..now the weather report said it was supposed to be raining..when I  took my walk just before 14:00..but could seen no evidence of said rain but did wear my light rain/windbreaker jacket..there was a small amount of moisture in the air briefly but I'd term it more a mist than actual rain...so got my garlic and some italian peppers..and although I had walk to Price Chopper by way of the short cut out the backdoor of the facility..on the way back took a slightly different course..entered by way of the lobby and got my traditional afternoon toffee coffee..
Have spent a quiet day save for the walk..and quite frankly really for a change don't have a whole lot to say today..ergo..I bid thee farewell and good night..

It's been an very nice day today..was cloudy this morning when I walked just after 09:00..first stop was to Big Lots..I had put the last of my Himalayan black salt into the shakers this morning and Big Lots is the only place I can get it at a fair price..also a couple of cherry lemonade sparkling water..and a small bottle of both lemon and lime juice..then off to Aldi..had intended to get just a package of rolls but check the hummus and they had the one with the olive tapenade which is my fav..still have a little hummus left..but the don't always have it..headed back to my rooms..was going to put the purchases away..and head to the convenience store which is in the opposite direction..sat for awhile and when I got up my one knee started to complain is a very "loud voice"...well my better judgement prevailed and I cancel the rest of the walk..well actual postponed in....
Felt better this afternoon and decided to head out to the convenience store for my chew..yup I know a bad habit..but  it's the last one I've got..after all every fella has to have at least one..anyways took my usual short cuts that I use when walking that way and past by one of the three ponds in the area..apparently a mated pair of Canada geese have taken up residence there..and while I was heading one way there were coming the other way..well the male let me now with a hiss that I was too close..[maybe 15 feet]..now I never argue with geese..and took a detour around them..in a couple of week we'll be inundated by a horde of little fuzz balls..and have to be on the lookout for the "land mines" that the adults leave in there wake..but I enjoy watching the little ones grow up....
My essential tremors were a bit more of a bother just after I got up this morning and I normally start my day by posting to "Trollie's Game Room"..but decided to delay it for awhile..I used the biblical method of typing.."Seek and Ye Shall Find]..also known as the Columbus method.. "Discover and Land"..and if I'm dealing with the shakes..I don't even try.. not sure why exactly..but ate first meal early and the problem subsided to the point that it wasn't a problem..

Although it's raining now the morning and early afternoon..while cloudy and a fairly brisk breeze was blowing was actually a very nice day for me run some errands..mid 40s when I walked to Aldi this morning..just after 09:00..nothing out of the ordinary save for the fact than have eyeing the packages of pencil thin asparagas for quite sometime decided that today was the day to buy some and see what I could do with them..so for mid day meal I decided to give them a go..now I've never cooked them in  a microwave before..and had not guess one as to how long to cook them..chopped them in 1/2 inch pieces..olive oil..butter..salt..pepper..basil..and marjoram..and popped them in the microwave for 1 minute..and to my relief were dang near perfect in tenderness..I hate mushy asparagas..I cooked off some green onion separate..but another time will cook them together..added some Asiago cheese and of course the liquid egg white and was quite pleased with the dish..this time I made them in the dish I use for my "main dish" for mid-day meal..but me thinks I'll probably make them again in a smaller dish as a side....
And again just after 13:00..when the temperature was mid 50's..probably could have walked in my shirt sleeves but put my light vest windbreaker on so as to have pockets for my shades and readers..one question..do they really need the use such small letters when listing ingredients..dang..just picked up a few of the usual fare at both Ollie's and Dollar General..recently I've changed from Powerade zero sugar to the equivalent in Gatorade..better selection of flavors and more available..as a form soccer player/runner [track. cross-country & 20K road races I know the value of keeping hydrated..always drink some of the above when returning from my many walks.. particularly because my HBP meds contain a diuretic..keeping my fluid level up is important....
Actually took the afternoon off from on-line game play and when I got back from my afternoon walk watch the last part of "The Outlaw Josey Wales" on the "old boob tube"....

It's been a quiet day for me it was my intention not to walk today but basically to stay in my rooms..but got to thinking about the end of the month approaching and decided to go up to the lobby and may my rent for the month of April..technically it isn't past-due only until the end of in this case April..but I prefer to pay it at the end of the preceding month..besides my SSI check comes the 3rd Tuesday of each month..so it's not like I don't have the resources to cover it..but there is a issue with my monthly bank statement..the bank runs the statement on the 3rd weekend of the month..and sometimes the statement is run before my check arrives..last month was ok..but this month didn't show this months check..so I went up the hill..[bank I use and the ATM is maybe 50 yards from the side-door of the hotel I reside in..up..took out my "10 day walking around money" and the balance showed my check had been added..okay so I might be a tad paranoid about it..but I'd rather know for sure then just assume....
I probably will take a walk tomorrow to the Price Chopper Plaza..I'm almost out of my fresh veg..primarily peppers..which I like to add to my egg white dishes..and they have a bake shop on site and I thing I might as a change of pace get some fresh baked bagels..and will probably stop at T J Maxx as well..but if the weather changes and the rain starts earlier I'll probably wait to walk to Friday....
Rest of the day had been spent much like always..still a few things to deal with..I play a video poker game..aka:poker slots..usually just after 17:30 everyday..as with the live Poker I play it's a "free site"..no actually money is won or lost..just faux game money..so I'm off to do that..ergo..I bid you a fond farewell and goodnight....

Temperatures were in the lower 40s most of the day but had a couple of the usual fare that I needed at Aldi so walked just after 09:00..only a light breeze and the walk was quite pleasant..later in the afternoon decided that when I was at Dollar General the other day I should have picked up another six-pack of soda..Dr Pepper..in 7-1/2 oz. cans..I seldom drink soda but I like it every so often..but a 12 oz can is really more than I want and I rarely finish it..but as I started to return to my rooms..decided to continue my walk and walk the loop I usually use..sat for awhile at the sitting area on the corner of Arsenal and Western Blvd..although overcast it was actually a nice late winter/early spring day..continued my walk by way of the lobby and got my toffee coffee....
I mention my old college housemate yesterday..along with JC the monkey..C also had a pair of amazon green parrots..Padro and Pedro..Pedro was molting and C asked if I'd keep Padro in my rooms for a couple of weeks which I did..my experience with Padro taught me a life lesson..never buy a second hand bird..I'd put him in his cage at night and cover the cage..in the morning you'd hear.."Get Padro the [blank} outta here..."[Padro's actual word has been censored]...so I'd let him out and he'd sit on his perch and say "Padro wants a [blanking] cracker..so I'd feed him..it was fall so I'd leave early in the morning for classes and then soccer practice..and then sometimes sturdy in the library in the evening but regardless of the time I got back I  was greeted with a "Where the [blank} have you been"..followed by "Padro wants a [blanking] cracker..I had been studying at my desk in my room the night before and had left my copy of Liddell & Scott..a classical greek/english lexicon open on my desk but had pushed my chair in..when I returned the next afternoon..he was sitting on the back of the chair..moving his head back and forth as if he was reading..muttering..[blanking...repeatedly]..said I "I doubt that's what's written there"..his reply "Where the [blank] have you been..Padro wants a [blanking] cracker"..the best part of this gag is that I was attending a very conservative..baptist bible college..if the profs and admins had ever seen old Padro..they would have h\ad the proverbial cow....and probably stoned the bird and kicked C and I out of the school.....

It was a dreary day here in the Northcountry of New York State..most of the day light hours it was either lightly raining  pr showing or both at the same time..now knowing that that was in-store for us today..I had got what few things I may need yesterday..and except for a brief walk [indoors] up to the lobby to get my afternoon toffee coffee I  haven't been out of my rooms all day..did watch a little TV..part of the movie "Now You See Me"..and some Paw Patrol..yup..I know a kids show..but Ii find it amusing..did have a short chat with one of the other residents here while on my quest for coffee..and as is my custom the rest of the day on-line....
Not as good a day at the Poker tables this morning..but then it is what it is..nobody wins every time they play..a decent day at my other games....
I'm not sure what brought it to mind but  my 4th year in college I was living off campus with 4 other guys..and one of them I call him C..had a regular menagerie in his room..2 parrots..a couple of fish tanks..and a Woolly Monkey named JC..now JC was a mischievous little guy and over several encounters he came to learn that I wasn't amused..to the point that he would be causing mayhem and all I had to do was sternly say "JC" and snap my finger and he would stop and  behave himself for a short time..I guess that made me the Alpha Monkey..anyways I'm studying in the library on Sunday afternoon [small college in a rural area..about 700 students]..and one of the co-eds found me and said C needs you..[if you were looking for me I was always easy to find..class..the library or the practice field]..well C had brought JC on campus..JC had escaped and went up an oak tree..there was a crowd around..so I asked everyone to back off a bit..I stood at the base of the tree.."JC" and snapped my fingers..he hesitated..again "JC" and another snap of the fingers and down he came..C got the leash on..and I went back to my studies....some day I'll have to relate the story of the time I kept one of his parrots for awhile..but that's for another day....

Actually a very nice late winter/early spring day..I had spent the morning and early after noon as as I usually do on-line..attending to my mod duties on "The Farthest Side" and gaming..had one of my better days of late at the Poker table..[free site..only game money changes hands]..and also a decent day oh the sims I play and solitaire games..but around 14:00 I was feeling a little cooped up..and there was too nice of a day to let it slip by..so decided to walk but took mt sling bag..and as I took one of my short cuts thru the plaza parking lot just do the hill from my rooms..the parking lot was practically empty so decided to stop at Ollie's..a container of garlic powder [was almost out]..and 3 bags of assorted Claey's hard candies..and a nice chat with one of the clerks..then just a walk thru at the Thrift Store..nothing insisted on going home with me..then Dollar General..a bag of cheddar popcorn, a bag of Dove peanut butter filled dark chocolate, and a package of Genoa salami..and was going to head back up the hill to my rooms..but I was enjoying the day and the walk far too much so continued on the loop I often walk..took a sit-down in the small sitting area on the corner of Arsenal and Western Blvd...and then back to the hotel thru the lobby for a toffee coffee..and had a chat with one of the of residents..main topic was of course the Coronavirus deal..
Now because of my 72 years on this rock in space I'm considered to be a higher risk than some..but I have none of the other risk factors..now I have no intention of being careless but on the other hand I have no intention of hiding in my rooms..the county I live in has only one confirmed case as of today..now if I lived in an urban area then I probably would listen to my internal hermit and hunker down..but I don't..I'll keep walking and running errands..with caution..and if I develop any symptoms..there's an urgent care facility right across the street and my Doc's a ten minute walk..and I see no viable reason to panic..I'm just not built that way..
   I wish thee farewell and Good-Day &or Night..whichever applies...

Well the weather today didn't quite reach the level of the forecast from last night..we did have the predicted rain although not as heavy as predicted..and I did hear some thunder in the distance but the bulk of the thunder and lightning apparently went to the south and east of us..I watched the projected storm track on radar and the front pasted over us here and as soon as it got over the Tug Hill Plateau..the radar showed the presence of thunder storms..now my knowledge of weather science is..well..frankly isn't..so I don't know the whys and the wherefores but I surmise that it might have to do with the higher elevation of the land..??..
But after what rain we did get had passed..although the winds did continue for awhile thereafter right around the 30  mph mark..but I wasn't going to waste the first temperatures in the mid 50s of the season..but just took a stroll around the parking lot and lawns of the facility that I reside in..felt good to just walk in the fresh air without having to bundle up..when weather permits it is my custom to take a walk in the late afternoon or early evening..it's an old habit from my youth..of course it's much different than then..it usually consisted of 6 to 10 miles at a rate of 5:30 minutes/mile..or interval work..I played what the rest of the world calls football [soccer here] at the small college level..I played mid-field..[although here we called it a halfback]..and got into running to stay in-shape..and from there started running 20K road races and a couple of marathons..[including Boston in 1970]..I just looked this year it's running on September 14th..when I ran in it it was run in April..that year the 15th..be fifty years this year..I love Google..apparently the move from April to September is because of the Coronavirus {link}..well I guess that makes sense..It was always run on a Monday..in celebration of  Patriot's Day....

I had originally planned on staying in my rooms today and pickup a few things for the weekend tomorrow..well until I saw the forecast..ergo..took a brief walk this afternoon under very similar conditions to those listed in the header..what we used to call "shirt sleeve" weather..but did throw on my light vest windbreaker..not really that I needed it for the weather..but I wanted it for the pockets..when out I always take two pairs of glasses..shades & readers..plus my shopping list which according to my custom..I forgot to take with me..got everything I wanted despite the missing list..save for the sliced roast beef..which Aldi was out of..so substituted some sliced hard salami..and although not on the list somehow a small package with two wedges of New York style cheesecake found it's way in to my sling bag along with a package of honey buns..both can be very sneaky little rascals..well it's my story and I'm sticking to it....

I took a short walk just a couple of hours ago when the weather was much like the above..more to walk then for ant really need for supplies..just wandered around Ollie's for awhile..ended up with a small container of cashews..a brief stop at the Thrift Store..browsed for awhile and found nothing that jumped of the shelves and demanded that it/they went home with me..and then to Dollar General..just a can of corned beef..I always keep a can in my "winter pantry" and had opened the one I had last night..and wanted to replace it..had a nice chat with J one of the clerks....
As to the corned beef..last night..chopped up a couple of small red skinned potatoes..a little chopped white onion..and some shredded cabbage..no here I disagree with the labeling..it sold as "red cabbage"..how my disagreement is based on the simple fact that when cooked with liquid egg white the egg whites are colored blue..and I think it's far closer to purple than blue..but I digress..some decent cheddar and of course the liquid egg white..spiced simply with salt, pepper, mustard powder, and a dash of red pepper flake..and for mid-day meal today..parsnips instead of potatoes, green onion instead of white..and the disputed "red" cabbage made an encore appearance..long with the cheddar..along with the aforementioned spices..basil, sage, rosemary & thyme joined the cast of characters..and of course the cheddar and liquid egg whites..both dishes will definitely make encore appearance..later in the session..possibly tomorrow....
Got a PM from my bro this afternoon..he and his better half have been spending a month in Florida..both are retired school teachers..they are leaving Sunday and should be back in the Northcountry..and is concerned about the availability of hotel/motel accommodation due to the Corona Virus deal..I check local news and apparently there has been only one confirmed case in Jefferson County [where I live]..so my best wishes and prayers are with my bro and this Mrs on their way back home..for safe travels....

It rained most of the morning hours into the early afternoon..once the rain was over I decided to walk to Aldi's and pickup a few things..nothing out of the ordinary..but the place has been well picked over..I have a casual relationship with many of the staff and they looked quite tired..they've apparently been working their butts off trying to keep up with the crowd of shoppers..
Housekeeping was in today..husband and wife team..he also takes care of all  the shoveling and snow-blowing..and is now sporting a beard..looks go on him..and I told him so..he replied that is wasn't as good as my..of course he's only had one a couple of weeks and I've had either a goatee or a full beard for the better part of 20 years..
Other than the walk and the visit by housekeeping I have spent a quiet day..on-line..save for a short conversation with one of the other residents..with everyone staying close to home with the fear of the Corona virus..the load on "The Farthest Side" has been heavy but most of the mods have also spent the day on-line so it's been shared among many hands and hasn't consumed an inordinate amount of time..
Still have things to attend to and I'm given some though to throwing together something for an evening meal..don't have a firm idea of what to have..guess I need to check the pantry..so will say "fare thee well" and goodnight..

It was only in the upper 20s*F when I decided to walk this morning..but with the rain due overnight tonight thru Tuesday afternoon..there was almost no wind and the only clouds were little wisps on the horizon..stopped at T J Maxx but nothing caught my eye..then to Price Chopper..two kinds of peppers, an english cucumber & a bottle of prepared horseradish..and then to the convenience store for my dip..was a pleasant walk..had some time this afternoon..now New York State has a law that if a bank account is dormant for 2 years..no deposits or withdrawals..it can be ceased by the state..yup..I have an account which is my "safety net"..so periodically I've either withdraw or deposit a small amount..so decided to do that this afternoon..needed to stop at the ATM anyways to get my "10 day walkin' around money" so popped into the bank and made a small deposit..then using my multiple short cuts to Dollar General for a couple packages of cookies and a package of three small legal pads that I use to record my on-line play..very enjoyable walk temperatures in the mid-40's*F..and only a light breeze and again with the bright sunny day..on my way back I saw a mated pair of Canada geese..mom was chopping away on the grass and dad was full alert..if nature takes it's normal course we will be seeing in a couple of weeks many little fuzzballs..there growth rate is something..by early summer the will look just like the adults only slightly small..and once they are able to fly they fly else where to forage for food..basically this area with it's 3 available ponds is essentially their nursery..
We reached a milestone on the group I'm a moderator for on FB.."The Farthest Side" earlier today we passed the 40'K mark in members..still a few things to do before I take my rest..and I foresee a sandwich in my immediate future so I'll take my leave..nite all....

Although not a particularly a warm day..quite the opposite..the temperature and windchill were marginally warm and now..and the north wind had a bit of a bite to it..but it was a bight sunny day..with just of a hint of light clouds at the horizon..and besides it's just a short walk to Aldi..It was quite busy and apparently there were peeps who have a fair amount of fear  over the Corona-virus pandemic..the selves in the can food section were almost stripped clean..just crazy..if you look back historically almost ever Presidential Election Year here in the USA has it's  accompanying "crisis" and more often than not the severity of the problem has been blown way out of proportion..I remember the panic that occurred over the Y2K deal..which was in actuality a complete bust..nothing happened..well something did happen..I rarely stay up to see the  New Year in..but I did stay up that year just to see if there was any truth to the hype..and as I expected there was not..don't misunderstand..I think that precautions are justified..I think the funniest thing is that many are hording toilet paper..for a disease that affects the respiratory system not the intestinal one..oy vey....
Today  was a typical Sunday..there hasn't been squat on the old boob tube that has even been of marginally interest to me..which is a good thing..the new members queue on the FB group "the Farthest Side" which I'm a moderator at..which is usually busy on the weekends has been swamped this weekend..most likely from peeps who are staying in because of the "crisis" and have been spending more time then /usual on-line..
Still things to button up for the day..so I will leave you with my Best Wishes....

It has been a very enjoyable day..not the warmest of days..but relative to the weather of late a very nice day nor the less..just before 10:00 this morning I took a walk...first to Big Lots..just 2 bottles of cherry lemonade and a bottle of old style ginger ale..the later has already been  consumed..and then off to Aldi..just the usual fare..although I got there quite early..the place was quite busy..most probably over the Corona Virus scare..if you look back in the history surrounding election years in general and Presidential election in particular there seems to always be some kind of a crisis..very predictable....
Had got an early jump on today's game play..awoke after about an hours sleep last night and realized I could take a chip drop then and get a head start on today's play..got so involve between my on-line gaming..and my moderator duties on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..most weekends we have a "Larson Only Weekend"..and so we have to watch the pending posts closely to make sure  that only "Larson's" are posted..besides on weekends the number of new member requests are normal higher then during the week..and reviewing comments takes sometime as well..we are approaching 40K members..but it's worth the effort....
Just an hour or so ago I decided that I needed a walk..it is my custom if the weather permits to take a walk in the late afternoon or early evening..except in the winter time..so today was my first walk of the season..I have a small sling-bag then the one I carry when shopping..today just a bottle of water, a pocket knife, and mt compact binoculars..just in case I saw some geese or other wild life..but none presented themselves for me to view....
Have still some issues to deal with before I take my rest..ergo..I bid you fair well....now off to play some poker slots....

I didn't walk today..had nothing to do with it being Friday the 13th..I do not suffer from Triskaidekaphobia..when I  played soccer at the small college level I wore the number 13..and thought it quite lucky..nor was it out of fear over the corona-virus pan-epidemic..but rather it rained overnight thru just after noon today..so I might have walked thereafter..once problem..the rains were accompanied by >20 mph winds..and although  the rains ceased the winds kept on blowing..I've mentioned before that I have a genetic disorder called essential tremors..what we used to call back in the day.."The Old Age Shakes"..but one of the other problems with it is that it causes balance issues..last Spring I had gone to the grocery store and on my way back the wind was blowing over 20 mph and it "caught" me just right [actually just wrong]..and it spun me around and if I hadn't had my cane..I would have taken a nose-dive right in the middle of one of the if not the busiest street in the small Upstate New York city I live in..ergo..if the winds is >20 mph..The MadTrollie stays in his comfortable rooms..However the weather on the morrow looks fine max winds of only 13 mph..which in the Northcountry of old New York..we refer to as a stiff breeze..living 20 miles "as the crow flies" from the east end of Lake Ontario it is a rare day indeed when there isn't at least a light breeze..so just a quick jaunt to Aldi is the plan....
Just the /usual routine today..just a little TV while eating my mid-day meal..and the rest of the day on-line..just a calm..enjoyable day..which is not quite over as of yet..still things to accomplish and I foresee that there might be a sandwich in my immediate future..so I bid you a fond farewell..[if you'd like to check it out there's a link to "Essential Tremors" over in the side bar]...

It turned into a warm day at least for this time of year..but I like to walk early..ergo..walked just after 09:00..when it was sunny and +38*F..first to "Dollar Tree"..didn't get much except for a couple  of packages of heat & serve meat balls..then to "T J Maxx"..checked out their food section..that store is a great source for unusual spices and condiments..also different chips made from other then potatoes or corn..and at a very affordable price..but nothing caught my eye..but on my way out one of the clerks asked where I had been..I usually stop there every week or ten days and it has been more than two weeks..blamed the weather but one thing lead to another and stood there quite awhile chatting with her and two other clerks..they had just opened and the store wasn't busy..didn't really need anything at Price Chopper so headed back to my rooms by the way that would take me past "Dollar General"..with the intent of getting a jug of tomato juice..got distracted by a new flavor of Gatorade Zero sugar..glacier cherry.."Dollar General" apparently are no longer stocking the Powerade Zero..got a bottle..2 bags of candy..got back to my rooms..no dang jug of tomato juice..but as my dad always said "If you don't have it in your head, you have to have it in your feet"..ergo..off again at 15:00..+51*F but overcasts.."Ollie's"..a couple bags of chips and a container of grated cheese..then back to "Dollar General" and this time I remember the dang tomato juice..oy vey..
For my egg white dish today some potato, purple cabbage, onion, and 2 links of brown and serve sausage..all chopped..and several dashes spices from my ample collection..butter..olive oil..and some Asiago cheese grated..and of course the liquid egg white..one of the better ones I've made..but then since I don't measure anything and didn't write done the spices I used..be a miracle if I could every re-create it exactly the same way ever again..but I will try..
Before I write another novella I will wish for you a very good day &or night..which ever applies....

When I walked earlier the temperature was in the mid-20's F w/ a high teens windchill..had originally not planned to walk today..but I had a couple of my bananas ripen a bid quicker then I anticipated and needed to re-stock..so decided to walk to Aldi today..a shorter walk and then it Price Chopper, Dollar Tree and T J Maxx tomorrow..one of my more extended walks may even go into Staples [in the same plaza]..still checking out the possibility of buying a new laptop..however once I find the one I want I plan to check out the price on-line and possibility buy on-line..there's also a Best-Buy in the area a little out of my normal walking range but if I catch a nice day may take a look there as well..Google will stop supporting my Chrome Base in July..so I have time to consider my options..just the usual bananas, onions, small potatoes, fruit flavored sparkling water..and they had one round of the aged Irish cheddar left and that now resides in my frig..one open and two waiting their turn....it may be honestly said that I'm a fanatic when it come to cheese..to the point that pre-shredded cheese or cheese that is pre-sliced is not cheese but a very poor substitution..if it ain't in a brick/wedge/round..it ain't cheese..I may  be for the most part quite frugal..but if I want quality..I'll pay for quality..of course I will look for the best deal..
Have spent the rest of the day as I normally do..with the exception that I often will on Wednesday watch the re-runs of NCIS on the USA network..today they rather then the usual 6 or so episodes they normal show..only played two..neither of which was one of my favs..ergo..more time for my on-line games..had one of more enjoyable sessions of poker this morning..for a change actually got a table were the crazy, loose play was not in evidence..and got to play my "small ball, slow play, trapping" style..also spent more time adding to my Youtube playlists..have had quite a restfully and enjoyable day..which is about to come to an end so I wish you a very  Fine Day..nite all..

Although it's dry and overcast now it has been raining most of the day..turning colder tomorrow..but apparently Spring  will make a re-appearance tomorrow..because of the rain except for two brief trips to the lobby for breakfast and my afternoon toffee coffee I've spent the entire day in my rooms..did have my regular Tuesday visit from housekeeping..room cleaned and fresh linen..and I will be for ever grateful that those jobs are done by someone other then me..
I was thinking of walking tomorrow..Aldi and maybe Big Lots..but with the forecasts for a cold snap tomorrow and a mid-50s*F day on Thursday..I'm may decided to change my plans..really have nothing I need to have before Thursday anyways..and quite frankly my patience which I have in very short supply anyways has  been worn out by the Winter's cold and snow..besides I hate having to bundle up just to take a walk..
Have spent the rest of the day as is my custom on-line..the usual two "live" games..a couple of sims..11 solitaire games..my 3 blogs..mod duty on the FB group "The Farthest Side" and scouring Youtube for new videos to add to my every expanding number of playlists..in my Youtube channel "MadTrollie"..I have some that are.."Public"..and other's are "Unlisted" some of those will eventually be upgraded to "Public"..

It felt good today to walk outside without having to bundle up against the cold..because of the wind it was a bit chill provided that it had recently been in the 80s*F...but since recently the wind chills have been below 0*F..it was quite pleasant..even warm..didn't really need to walk..but since it's forecast to rain most of tomorrow and turn colder on Wednesday..decided to take a walk to Ollie's..I had just opened my backup box of quart zipper bags..I decided to buy another backup..truth be told it usually takes a month or better for me to go through a box..I usually re-use the bags unless I had stored meat in them..and looked through the multiple bags of chips and found another bag of the horseradish/cheddar chips I had found a couple of weeks ago..and a couple of nice chats with some of the "kids" that work there..and then a quick stop at Dollar General and because it was warm decided to get the first small cup of the season..spring thru early fall I quite often will arrange to stop and get a small cup of ice cream on my way home..it's a tradition with me..
Had a glitch on Poker today that drove me nuts for awhile..still have no idea what happened but I sure it was nothing I did or failed to do..not a bid deal..but it had me going for awhile..
Other then that have just spent my usual quiet day..have added another card sim to the list of games I play on-line..have never played it before in "real life" but I intrigued me because it's an opposite of any game I've played other then "Old Maid"..the object thru several hands is to make as few points as possible..when someone scores 100 pts..he places last and the player with the fewest points wins..you need to play with a completely different mind set than any other game I've every played..well except for "Old Maid" which I haven't played in over 60 years..and no the cards were not chipped out of stone..
That time has come again to  wish you A Goodnight...

Because some of the new member requests on "The Farthest Side" are from places were English is not used..I use the translation app on my browser [I use both the Chrome browser, and have a Chrome Base..basically the "guts" of  Chrome Book in desktop form..if you right click on the page one of the available apps is a translation app..but you need to know the language..well I guessed wrong..and the app was translating english in to a language quite foreign to me..after many failed attempts I finally figured it out..the app now reads "translate to English" not just "translate language"..let's face it..when I was growing up you still programmed computers with punch cards..and phones were hooked to the wall and we were on a four party line [link]..I use computers but don't have a ghost of an idea how they work....
You will notice note above at 02:00 this morning the USA went to what we call "Daylight Savings Time" and an hour is added to the clock..and in the fall we revert to normal time..and usually there are messages post all over the net or in stores..well guess who didn't see one or at least didn't pay any attention to them..so I got up at the usual time..went on line and when I went to do the stats on my poker play couldn't figure out how I had managed to lose an hour..took me way too long to tumble to the fact that I was the first Sunday in March..when the switch is always made..oy vey..sometimes I can be a major dummkopf....
Did take a short walk just after 10:00..saw that my short cut to Big Lots was passable..so stopped there and got two bottles of cherry lemonade sparkling water..and a quick stop at Aldi..I mentioned I had got a round of real nice Irish cheddar..well I now have another one..and a bag of radishes..

Over the next ten days the weather is definitely on the upswing to Spring..and today while on my walk I saw what up here is the true sign that spring is around the corner..no not the warming weather..and not the first sighting of the  American Robin..good old Robin red-breast..as i was walking I hear at a distance bird sound..and saw a crow sitting on the other side of street..but it didn't sound like a crow's caw..a few minutes later I heard "honk"_"honk"' and over my head flew a flock of Canada Geese..the true harbingers of Spring in the Northcountry of NYS..there are a vast number of the geese that spend Spring and early Summer in this area..and around where I live there are three ponds that were dug for drainage..but don't tell that to the geese..they seem to think that we built them as nurseries where they can rise their young..I spend many happy hours watching the little fuzzballs..you can watch and enjoy from a distance but if you get too close Mom &or Dad will explain to you with a hiss or two that you're too close..in fact the smaller of the 3 ponds is no more than 50' or so from the back door of the Hotel I live in..and I can watch them feed outside my window on the hotel lawns..however this time of year you have to be careful were you walk..they are very prolific with the amount of their..ah..droppings..which I refer to as Goose land mines..
It was such a nice day in the upper 30s F without a cloud in the sky so after getting the few things I needed at Aldi..decided to extend my walk to the convenience store..was going to do that tomorrow..but was enjoying the bright sunny day far too  much to hurry back to my rooms..while at Aldi is spotted a small round of aged Irish cheddar..well I got it back to my rooms..cut the wax coating off and tasted a bit..and immediately decided that this as with the piece of British blue Stilton I have isn't cooking cheese but is "cut off a small piece and eat and enjoy slowly" cheese..and if they still have some next time I'm there you can guarantee that I'll pickup another round or two and store it..
End of a pleasant and very enjoyable day is upon me so mill wish you a very good day....

It was actually a very nice morning..upper 20s F..just a light breeze and mostly sunny..now a little snow and rain but neither of any great significance..had planned originally to wait to tomorrow  or even Sunday to go to the ATM and get my "'10 day walking around money"..usual every ten days..and although a couple days earlier and for no other reason then it was a decent day took the quick walk up the hill to the local branch of the ban\k that handles my accounts..a stop back at my rooms and then off to Ollie's the recent warming trend and rain have cleared my short cut so it's just down the hill to the backside of the Plaza..just a bottle of mouth wash..a bag of mints..and a tin of butter cookies..and a nice chat with the checkout girl..I maybe 72 years old but I still like the ladies..if point of fact the day that I  quit looking at the ladies is the day they nail the  lid over my head..and for once walked past Dollar General and had no reason to go in..
Have spent the rest of the day mostly on-line..but I did take a break around 13:00 for lunch and then decided to take care of my favorite mechanical job..I put a rear-end [mine] in my recliner and watch a little TV for an hour or so...
[a brief pause in the writing of this post as I had a chip drop on the free Poker site I play on]
At one time I both owned and read all the books in the Hornblower series by C.S. Forester [link]..
in fact the story behind the movie "Sink the Bismarck"..one of my favs is also the work of C.S.Forester..the neat thing about his books is that he take fictional characters..i.e. Hornblower et al..and puts them into historical events..common referred to as historical fiction..so you get to read an enjoyable story but in historical context..and except for the fictional characters the history is accurately presented..one of fav forms of fiction..he also wrote "The African Queen"..

We've had a little light snow at times but nothing that "stuck"..although the winds have been about what there are right now all day and so there has been a a very coo; wind..but with all of that I had a quite enjoyable walk just after 09:00 this  morning..although I had to be careful. and watch my step my "short cut" to Ollie's and Dollar General was passable..just a bottle of dish washing detergent and a container of dried pineapple..the one I have is just about empty..and they have a new brand of olive oil that looks to be a good one and at the right price..but they have a lot of it and I already have a backup for both kinds I use..an Italian and a Greek..but will probably end up with one of those way be for I need it..as I do have an extra squeeze bottle..I put all my cooking liquids in squeeze bottles..because of my essential tremors I have great difficultly pour liquid out of a bottle and I rarely get the amount I want..but with a squeeze bottle it's much more controllable for me....
Around 16:00 just took a walk around the parking lot and lawns are the hotel I live in..just needed some fresh air..it is my habit when weather permits to walk in the late afternoon or early evening just for no other reason then to walk....
The "work load" on the FB group "The Farthest Side" has been much easier today..over the last week or so we've added three new moderators and they seem to be getting the "hang of it"....
But other then the aforementioned walks have spent my day as I always do..quietly in my rooms..did have some interesting chats with two of the clerks at the stores and with a guy on the sidewalk outside Dollar General whom I've never met before and probably will never see again..but a decent sort..I enjoy a good conversation and even a good discussion..but friendly..I avoid debate..particularly of a political &or religious nature..and lately it seems impossible to separate the two..not that I'm not a good debater which I am..just have gotten tried of the inability of some peeps to see that between the two opposing positions the right answer maybe somewhere in between..I sometimes feel that compromise has become a "four letter word"....
The time approaches when all the days activities must come to an end so I bid you a Good Day...

[+46*F/overnight Lo:+32*F/rain/winds:s/s/e@7 mph/humidity:98%/barometer:29:36"\/]..[rain changing to snow from 21:000 thru 23:00..returning a couple hours tomorrow AM <1 p="" predicted="">   It started to rain in the early afternoon..and I had been watching the radar and decided that because I needed to walk this morning it made sense to walk early..left just after 09:00 to go to Aldi and possibly Big Lots..if my "short cuts" were passable..which they weren't so just went in to Aldi and had remembered my shopping list a change..got everything I needed..and yes I remembered to get the hummus..and even more amazing I remembered to get butter..which I had forgotten to put on  the list..a couple of weeks ago I had bought a package of loaded potato skins..and had stuck them in the freezer and forgot about them until over the weekend..I had never had them before but they looked interesting..and I decided after having them that they definitely are an item I want to keep on hand..there are times when I get involved with some of my on-line activities and get hungry and just don't want to spend the time cooking from scratch..so I always keep  a few pre-made things around that I can heat in the microwave and have in a hurry..although I always make it a point to cook from scratch at least one a day..and try to eat as healthy as possible..
Have had a very busy day..the number of new member requests on "The Farthest Side" were if any thing heavier than yesterday..and for whatever reason I was on my own most of the day..also had a issue to deal with..someone my a comment that two other members reported as being "inappropriate" which it most certainly was..deleted the comment[s]..and per group rules removed him from the group and blocked him from re-applying..and then there also was my regular Tuesday visit from housekeeping..add in the morning walk..and "I've been behind the 8-ball" most of the day but with the completion of this post I'll be pretty well caught back up..
Just the usual end of the day tasks to complete..so will put an end to this post and wish you a Good Day....

[Now Playing on MadTrollie's..TV/movies..[Away All Boats]..]....
It's been raining most of the day..predicted rain fall about .25 of an inch..aka:light rain..PM rain changing to snow Tuesday but only an inch or so is expected..
Because of the rain I hadn't planned to walk today but will if the morning is clear of rain I intend to take a walk to Big Lots and Aldi..and this time I'll make a list and hummus will be on it..as well a s sparkling water and bananas..and what every else jumps off the shelves and ends up in my basket at Big Lots and my cloth bag at Aldi..Aldi had recently upgraded to a bigger cart..there's actually room  enough for two kids in the kids' seat..I've jokingly said that since I don't have my CDL[commercial drivers licence]..I'm not qualified to operate a vehicle that large..I never buy more at one time that doesn't fit in my sling bag or cloth shopping bag..as I walk everywhere..must places I shop I either take a basket or one of the smaller carts if available..
I have no idea why but the number of new member requests on the FB group [where I'm a moderator] have been a veritable flood..I've done more than 150 today so far..but most of the morning I've been the only moderator there most of time and more of the crew are usually around in the evening..but we are nudging in on 40K members..but it's worth the effort to make sure we keep the group all about the cartoons and a safe place where peeps can just have a good laugh..chief in that is our rule that it's a "politics free zone"..any political comment and we don't care what side of an  issue you're on..you make a political comment and you get "the boot" out of the group..
It's not that I don't have political ideas..I do..but FB is not from my POV is no place for it..FB has allowed me to re-connect with the kids I went to high school with..most of whom I've not seen in over 50 years..yup..I know none of use are kids anymore but I still see them the last way I "laid eyes" on them..well it's about that time again and I  bid you a Good Day....

[Now Playing..MadTrollie's.."The Mix"..]
According to the current weather forecast it's supposed to rain most of the day tomorrow and in the afternoon and evening on Tuesday..so except for the large piles in parking lots were plowing was done I expect most of the snows of Friday will be gone by Tuesday..
Did take the walk to the west and the convenience store and Price Chopper..although a little icy and rutted in spots not bad..from observation a vehicle with a plow blade started at Commerce Park and plow the sidewalk on the north side of Arsenal all the way to Western Blvd..the greater potion of this mornings walk..while at the convenience store had a chat with the one clerk that I've now for several years..apparently she and the manager also a lady who I've now almost since I've moved to this area some nine years ago..during the blizzard they were the only two working that day..both are probably in their early to mid 50's..and were pushing cars that had gotten stuck in the parking lot..and some of drivers so the story went had not guess one how to drive in those conditions..just to the north of town is Fort Drum..home of the 10th Mountain Division..and many of the soldiers and their families are from the southern or western US..and have zero experience driving in snow let alone in blizzard conditions..
One of the pieces in "The Mix" is Beethoven's Hallelujah from "Christ on the Mount of Olives"..years ago I had a CD with that piece on it..and a yellow and grey budgie name of Stormy..who loved classical music and that piece of music in particular..as soon as she heard the intro she'd be bouncing and head bobbing on her perch..and as soon the the choir began to sing she would sing and chirp along..way off key..but she really enjoyed herself..and of course I had a problem not laughing my tuckus off..
Still a few things to deal with..has been a very busy day on "The Farthest Side"..just a veritable flood of new member requests..so I wish you a Good Day....
