Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

i wrote a piece sunday i think and mentioned the blue laws which searchn picked up on and it reminded me of how silly legalism can be and how legalist always find a way out of the rules when it's to their advantage...in my youth i was a fair to midline distance runner, and was running Xcountry for a small very conservative college with very strict rules as to what could be done on sunday.....basically nothing.....well anyways we had had a race on saterday in which i had had severe cramps in my lower regions...and after we got back to school talked to the coach and the AD....we had a race on monday and there was no way that i was going to be able to run on monday if i didn't workout on sunday and try to get loosened up...well after a little thought the AD says ....well there is nothing in the rules which says you can't take a long walk on sunday....and some people do walk faster then others...so i see no problem in you taking a long "walk" tomorrow....just do it as far away from campus as possible and don't wear on anything with the school logo on it......now these guys were on the stop watch about a week earlier when i blistered a 13 mile training run in under 1hour and 10 minutes.....which included a sub 4:20 mile......even when i was just messing around i'd run a training clip between 5:30 and 6 flat per mile...now there is no way anybody in their right mind would call that a "walk"....so i took my "walk"......and we won the next meet......i just love legalists........
