Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

I took a look and oops I haven't posted here for quite awhile.....but to my defense I've been dealing with the re-occurrence of a chronic and old problem but although it's not back to normal yet ( what ever normal is) but it's a heck a lot better then it's been the past couple of days......

I realize it has been several days since the last time I posted......have been dealing with some physical problems.......basically a stiff neck, and some shoulder problems.....not serious but it has my sleeping difficult......
It seem that the news is all about the controversy over the memorials  to  individuals and units that served in the Confederate forces....I mean good grief........that war ended over 150 years ago......and if you are  offended by the memorials....because of the fact that the war was about slavery........in my mind.......you not only missed the other reasons for the war and frankly you offend way too easily...

With all the press with the NFL and concussions, now I never played organized american football.....but still am sure with some of the crazy things I've down I've had a hand full of concussions.....starting with a fall off a neighbors wood pile.....don't remember much other then having to get some stitches...in the back of my head...but I couldn't have been more then 5 or 6.......
could recount a few more but let's get to may favorite (okay if you haven't figured it out yet, talking about my favorite concussion should tell you all you need to know about me)
again during playing small college soccer, while playing striker I tried a bicycle kick and miss hit it just a bit........it hit the crossbar.......and the ball bounced back right next to me and in his haste to get to the ball one of the defenders stepped on my head.....
while they stop the game....and kept me down......coach came out and said.......
     "Are you dizzy Bud"
Said I "No more then usual, coach"
"Then why are you still down", coach replied
"Because they wouldn't let me get up", said I

So when I awoke, my right thumb was misbehaving.....now I've had arthritis long enough to recognize the telltale signs........a reddish skin color and a swollen knuckle... so I've had the thumb dunking in a glass full of ice for awhile.......and it's still sore but has loosened up a whole lot....
So I tried to figure out what  have I done this time, and couldn't come up with any thing I've done recently......so had to think back......and did come up with what might have been the genesis of the problem.....so travel back with me about 49 years ago in time, when I was playing small college soccer.
So we weren't playing FIFA rules, it was free substitution, but at the start of the game you had to name your 4 subs, always one of the subs was your backup goalie......but you always had one of the subs or a starter who could play goalie in a pinch......that was me........the "disaster goalie"......and I think what they meant was it would be a disaster if I was needed.....
So I was playing goalie in practice.......and one of our best strikers, got away from the defenders and rocketed a shot, low to the far right corner......I dove got my finger tips on the ball, and deflected it around the goal post, and out.........great play.......but there was a problem......
All 8 fingers and both thumbs impact with the 4x4 goal post......So i get up I've got my hands under my arm pits.....and I'm watching stars and colors exploding in my eyes and mind.......
(one thing I can always depend on is my sense of humor
Coach comes over, quote he "let me see your hands".....quote I "not until you look on the ground and tell me none of them are laying on the ground"
