Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

(a rerun of "Law and Order")
Took an early walk when the temperature was still in the 70s.....3 stops, one of which was Ollie's, last day of 15% off from all purchases, and among other things, bought a new kitchen knife......took it home and did something stupid, and cut myself, now I haven't cut myself in years, I've done stupid things, just haven't cut myself, and then I remembered the fact that I had put off getting a "First Aid Kit".......so back to Ollie's and got the dang kit.....oy vey........

(10:43 AM UTC-4)
(+75*F......sunny)
( one of my mixes off YouTube)
According to the long term forecast it's going to be in the 80s and 90s at least for some of the day for most of the next to weeks.......with no rain in the forecast......although I have normally no  breathing problems.....I do have some difficulty in the higher temperatures.....maybe it's just being: 1) 70  years young, or 2) live in an area where temperatures in winter time can reach well below -0*F......which also can "rattle" your lungs......so will keep my walks short, try to time them for early morning, and remember to carry bottled water.........or failing that there are several stops on the way of my walk where I can buy an ice cold bottle of water......not to worry if it gets too dang hot I'll just stay in......and yes Virginia I have AC.........
I'm not sure whether I mentioned here awhile back that I was experiencing an avalanche of spam on one of my 3 email accounts......at one point it reached near 100/day......from a usual 5 or less.....I'm reasonably sure it was at the same time I started playing a online poker game ( no real money changes hands) which runs no ads........figured they sold my email address and then whoever bought it sold it again.....and again........ad infinitum........ (seems that spellcheck never studied Latin)......( there will be a slight pause here my mix is playing Wagner's "Rienzi Overture")..( now where was I?, what was I doing?,and why?..)........but the amount of said spam has now at least dropped into the range of 10-20 per day, but the weird thing about it with the exception of a thank you from a company I have never done business with, and another trying to loan me money, today 16 of the 18 are from peeps offering to loan me themselves or at least pictures  .......all of which are at least from the name, young ladies.......dang where's a nice honest Nigerian Noble when you need one......seriously I've been online for over 20 years, and know too well never to open spam .......I live by the adage "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" it only took me one time years ago to learn my lesson.......

Had 4 stops to make on my morning walk, on the way back thee installers were just finished changing my rooms over to the new cable TV system.....quite a few more channels, most of which I probably won't ever watch........and only lost one channel that I occasionally watch, and added a few that I wished I had had before, mainly USA  and FS-1.......as to the rest of the new ones.....no big deal......

(+66*F......rain)
(a "Bones" rerun)
Just basically a quiet day, walked early bee for the rain came........also predicted is rain for tomorrow......
This guy in a red suit, horns a tail, and carrying a pitchfork, put his arm around me and said " Madtrollie it finally froze"......Before the start of the World Cup I would have picked Germany as one of the favorites to win the Cup, and they finished last in their group and didn't make the knock out round.......(MT shaking his head in disbelief)........I played the game at a small college level, and much prefer it over American Football.......which is really a kind of misnomer........calling it Gridiron....an older name for it.....would be better.......

("Sink the Bismarck"
Nice day, walked twice, early to Ollie's, if you're not familiar with the chain, basically a warehouse store, they sell 2nds, overruns, left overs, and at discount pricing, don't buy a lot from there but if they have it, it's at a great price, but if you see it, and want it,, buy it then, because once it's gone, it's gone......usually stop in every week to ten days......but they are taking an additional 15% off until Friday.
Took care of paying July's rent, tend to take care of it a few days early, actually if I think about it even this early, I take care of it then......also called the pharmacy I use as my BP meds are just about gone.....plan to pick it up before the weekend when my walk takes me in that direction.....now I don't ever pay for meds or my Doc's bills for that matter from my daily budget, but from a reserve fund, so later in the day decided to walk to the bank....and withdraw the money for the meds, and some pocket money....and then Aldi.....tomatoes, radishes, cucumber, and some rolls, storage bags, and a bottle of salad dressing......and sitting he now I completely forgot to get green onions.....never got on the shopping list......oy vey........when I go to pickup my meds, I can stop at Aldi on the way back and get a package of green onions......I don't cook with them, I just eat them raw with some coarse pink sea salt.......

(Wagner: Beat of......)
Just back from the extended family gathering....at a very nice area restaurant....food and service were both great, wished the chair hadn't been left over from the Spanish Inquisition.....wooden chair, straight back, no padding.......my back is singing a very gloomy drudge......but applied an topical analgesic cream to it and it's feeling much better........but I'm pretty well done in and probably will hit the sheets earlier then usual.....didn't sleep particularly well last night so I'm getting quite tired........

( a Lord Peter Wimsey episode)
Had a pleasant time at the Open House in celebration of My Sis and her Hubby's 50th anniversary......saw so folks I haven't seen in years.....but left a tad early because I was getting tired, I was never much of one for talking naps......but over the last few years they have been more or less a common occurrence with me, especially on days when I haven't slept well the night before.....

(Now Playing: "Hec Ramsey" pilot)
Nice day walked early but still feeling the effects of this cold I caught.....I hate having a cold during the summer......they just seem to "drain" the energy out of me more then one in any of the other 3 seasons
Being retired I have plenty of time normally to surf the net, and attend to to my blogs, Facebook, check out YouTube (I now have 251 channel subscriptions), and play my online games...but I have two events this weekend....both days.....in celebration of my Sis and her Hubby's 50th wedding anniversary....don't really know much of the details other then an "open house" gathering and on Sunday a meal at a local restaurant....their kids have done all the planning, I just have to show up.......

( a Lord Peter Wimsey episode)
I think I figured out why I hand no energy yesterday.....I awoke this AM, the first day of summer, with a cold, sore throat, and sneezing......I don't know where I caught the cold but I'd like to throw it back......and as to sneezing......I probably could sneeze the siding off a house.......

( MASH reruns )
A very pleasant day, but haven't been out of my lodgings except sitting out a couple of times......not sure why......I slept well last night......or at least as well as I ever do.....and the knees, feet, back and neck are behaving.....well as well as they normally behave... either my get up and go has got up and went, or my zip has been zapped.......fortunately I had no errands to run that can't wait until tomorrow......or even the day after that.......

( "Gaudy Night" )
A cool day but a pleasant one, walked twice......got a whopper w/fries for supper.....I for the last 8 months have been trying to eat more for lack of a better term more healthy.....no Chinese delivery and no fast food.....but one must cheat once in awhile.....and have stopped my almost daily runs on the vending machines.......which has combined to a virtual flood of nickles, dimes, and quarters in several cups.......now counted and residing in coin wrappers......to the tune of $60.......the pennies how ever which I've been collecting for 7 & 1/2 years.........a bucket full..remain ignored and un-counted......oh one other change, on the 25th of June I'll have been "on the wagon" for 8 months.......take with everything mentioned above.....I'm probably in better health then I've been in several years......

(Wagner: Overtures & Preludes)
A hot day, but wanted to walk, fortunately there was a fairly brisk breeze , so was quite pleasant, but turned the AC on before I left in case I had overheated, which I hadn't but felt good anyways.....actually was looking for a swimsuit, but came away not getting one, did however get a neck pillow........one of the wrap-a-round kind, have a problem with a stiff neck from time to time.....as to the swim suit deal, another place to look but out of the way on today's walk.....will check another day......where I live there is  an outdoor  pool and in the 7+ years I've lived here I've never even put a toe in it.......but looks like this summer is going to be a hot one.......on the other hand all I intend to do is sit on the edge and dangle my feet.....so a pair of shorts over a good pair of boxer briefs....which i have,,,should prevent any thing else from dangling........

(Mozart: "Great" Mass in C Minor)
Beautiful sunny day, but a bit too hot for my liking.......did walk this morning when it was cooler, if +77*F can qualify as cooler, except in relative terms.........just a short walk across the street to Aldi......in "quest" of bananas.........and picked up a package of flat bread......
I'm a little bummed......FOX has the TV rights to both the World Cup and the U S Open.......so this weekend they've moved the World Cup coverage to FOX !....which I don't get.....and shown the golf on FOX.......now I enjoy golf but I'd rather watch the soccer........I played in college......about 50 years ago but I still love the game........

Although it is a pleasant day today, have not been out as of yet, but my sit out later, my WiFi connection has been a glitchie nightmare as of late, but although still a bit glitchie.....I have been able to spend extended time on the online poker game I play.......first time in about a week so played to my heart's content......(Note: only "game money"......changes hands.......no real money necessary to play)

A very frustrating day, the techs were here again, and the WiFi connection was down for several hours again, they think the now have got it fix.....but they may still have somethings to replace......oy vey
The interruptions have really played hob with the online game I played and have missed several changes to pick up free chips.........

( My Mix on YouTube (mostly  acappella)
Really nice day had 4 stops I wanted to make, just mostly fresh food, but needed some things for my gorp mix ( okay I known it's now called trail mix, but I know it by the name gorp)....I'm picky about what goes into it, so I buy components and mix my own......today added cashews, chopped dates, and M&Ms.....the first 3 stops were basically out and back, and the 4th was out of the way.....on my walk to the fourth stop I found  myself in front of the front door of my lodgings,  took a pit stop, put what I had purchased away, a few items needed refrigeration, I have a great hatred for crushed chips, and had them alone in a cloth bag, rather then stuffed in with everything else in my sling bag, and didn't need it for the last stop anyways, also my neck and back were talking to me, so a quick application of a deep heat rub........out the back door short cut to stop #4.....and I'm in for the day........plan a quiet rest of the day.....probably a bit of online Texas Hold Um........( see "Trollie's Game Room" link over on the side board)

( a "Hornblower" episode)
I didn't post yesterday, not because of the lack of some dribble to post, but lack of a WiFi connection.....it was down most of the day and finally got all but 1 access point working, and I'll give you 3 guess and the last 2 you won't need, "Which access point doe the old trollie gets his single on, the tech came back today and it's only been back on for about an hour.......I sometime think that an old gypsy witch one  cussed one of my forefathers, if it only happens to one out of many, I'm almost always the one.........

Quick walk this AM other then that a very quiet day.......responded to a post on a Facebook group that I follow about the small town that I grew up in outside Buffalo NY, commented and got a reply from an old school/college friend that I didn't know followed the group or for that matter was on Facebook, haven't seen him in 47 years so I sent him a friend request and hope to get reconnected.....

(Brahms: "A German Requiem")
My WiFi is driving me nuts, admittedly a very short trip, in point of fact you won't need to drive at all, just take my hand and walk me across the street......apparently a piece of the hardware is on it's last legs and it fades out at times.......parts on order finally..but probably won't be here to next week......oy vey
Had one of those days when the mind just wanted to veg, but the body, stiffness in the joints, demanded a walk, but as a former distance runner (cross-country, 20Ks, & a couple of marathons), not to mention the 60 to 100 miles per week in training, my mind is used to forcing my body to keep going when it that is the body wants to quit, so in this case to save face the mind came up with a couple of "necessary stops" and the walk was done........and yes I sometimes get in knock down, drag out arguments with myself.......

(2:23 PM UTC -4)
(+60*F..cloudy)
(HBO Signature: "West Side Story")
I had wanted to walk early today, but it was raining and although I have rain-gear/wind breaker, I waited and finally "The Reign of  the Rain was Reined in"......yup I know I could just have said the rain stopped, but my favorite hobby is the pun, the play on words, and the more obscure the better.....in fact I love the reaction from peeps when the groan and desire to throw rotten fruit at me.....and speaking of fruit.......I have been longing for some fresh cherries, but all the bags at the grocery have been to big....finally found one today just the right size, and many have already met their fate.....all thought I love most fruit in general...I love cherries most of all......
My new debit card came today, and is now activated.......now I do not have nor will I have a credit card.....if I can't afford it.....I don't buy it.......but I didn't wanted to  use my current account/card on line......so I opened a second account just for online shopping.....okay I may be a tad paranoid.....but remember it's not paranoia if they're really out to get you......

(My Mix YouTube)
A very quiet  day, pleasant walk this morning but has been a dreary day for the most part and finally we've had a bit of rain.......physically just a tad of off my game today......joints not really sore but some stiffness.....but the barometric pressure has been on the low side and it usually affects me in that way
Just watching some "Bond" movies and chilling.......

Saturday, June 2, 2018

(1:03 PM UTC-4)
(+65*F...mostly cloudy)
(GoldenEye  on AMC)
AMC is showing 4 Bond movies, back to back 4 of my favs movies, the weird thing is that while these are my fav Bond movies, Pierce Bronson is not may fav Bond, Sean Connery is
On my walk to day a got most of the way to Aldi before I remembered I had forgotten my quarter .....needed to "free" a shopping cart.....you get it back when your done, but then Aldi doesn't have to pay an employee to "wrangle carts.....but Big Lots was nearby and closer then walking back to my rooms for a quarter......so bought a bottle of roasted red peppers.....with I had been thinking of getting anyways..with quarter in hand walked up to Aldi and a shopper who was about to take his cart back gave me his cart and refused my offer of a quarter........but if I hadn't made the detour to get a quarter I won't have received a quarter......defies logic.....it's just one of those silly things that happens

I was almost run over by a young woman walking down the center of the sidewalk so engrossed with her cellphone that she was oblivious to anything else.....if I hadn't stepped off the sidewalk to let her pass we would have collided......good grief and oy vey......
First post of the month so I'm about to dive into layout and do some necessary rearranging to this old slagheap I call a blog......
