   Despite the high temperature I had a very enjoyable walk to Aldi this morning..just after nine o'clock..I usually try to plan my day if a walk there is in the offing..to get there as soon after they open as possible..at times it can be quite busy and especial now because of the added regulations and restrictions due to the CV-19 problem..didn't need that much..just some bananas..3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water & a quart of liquid egg whites..had a nice chat with one of "kids" who was stocking shelves & another with the "kid" who checking me out..and a pleasant walk back to my rooms..and after I finish posting this will probably take a turn or to around the grounds here....
   It just hasn't felt like Summer this year..oh..the weather screams Summer in the North Country..but it just hasn't felt like it....normally by late March or early April the hotel I  live in has a large number of construction workers from out of area who stay here and work on projects in the area..there is an old adage up here that there are only two seasons in the Northcountry.."Winter & Construction"..and they usual remain until October..and in a typical years the last three weekends of July are occupied by regional tournaments for kids..soccer/lacrosse & girls softball..and the hotel is jumping with kids & their parents..now it is true that I try my best to avoid the hubbub..but in the past I has struck up some casual friendships with a couple of the construction workers..but somehow the Summer is not complete without the presence of the aforementioned....
   Other than the walk to Aldi have spent the day in my rooms mostly online but I have spent some time watching TV as well..a couple of episodes of "Bones"..with most of my tasks completed..may take the aforementioned walk..and I assume a sandwich may be in my immediate future..ergo..goodnight to you all....

   Although fairly hot day today..highs were in the lower 80s but a stiff breeze [12 mph +/-] and low humidity..made it a pleasant day for one of my longer walks..first to the convenience store..then I the way back to Ollie's..I needed more olive oil..although I've tried other oils I've come to prefer the olive oil..I always buy my oil at Ollie's being an out-let I can buy a comparable oil to that at a regular market for at times up to 50% less..then to Dollar General on the way back to my rooms for a bottle of tomato juice..their store brand..again just as good as a name brand but more affordable..and a bottle of Gatorade Zero..I always have a bottle in the frig..and it's my routine to drink some when returning from my walks..especially on hot days..as a former soccer player/distance runner I make sure I always stay hydrated..and now because one of my meds has diuretic properties it's even more important....
   Took a turn around the lawns here and encountered a group of 15 geese..4 adults and their "teen-aged" kids..at this point this years hatch are about 7/8th of the size of the adults..about the only way to tell them from the adults is the fact that their necks are still a little shorter..now I'd never do this when the goslings were smaller..bur I decided to do a little goose herding..by placing myself about 20 feet away on their intend line of travel I got them to head off on a tangent..and yes I did get the head bob and a little hissing was done..but I just enjoyed spending some time watching them..might be the last time for this season..once the young ones get their flight feathers..they'll be gone..to farmers fields & the Perch River preserve/refuge which is a little west of where I live..[link]..if you go out there in late October/early November you can see literally 1000's of geese/ducks/wild swans that congregate for the flight south..and if you're luck perhaps a Bald Eagle as well..about 35 years ago they placed a couple of mated pairs on the refuge..[link]....
   But the time has come for me to prepare for the end of day..ergo..nite all....

   It's been a warm day..well it least that's what the weather reports/forecast is saying..frankly the only thing I really know about the weather today is what I've read and a few glaces out the window..except for a brief trip to the lobby this morning to get a few things from the breakfast buffet..I have spent the day in my rooms..didn't have ant pressing need to walk and besides even though I slept pretty decently last night..just haven't been that energetic today..as use to say back in the day.."my get up and go..got up an went"..I've felt increasingly better as the day has progress so at this point I may consider a walk around the grounds to be beneficial....
   Had all my game play and the majority of my posting to "Trollie's Game Room" done before noon and have except for taking chip drops on the free live Poker game I play have taken the after noon off and watched a couple of NCIS re-runs on the marathon of them that USA typically airs on Wednesday..and they've been some of the older ones which I prefer over the newer one..I think that one of the problem with long running TV series is they eventually run-out of reasonable plot-lines and the long the show runs the more strange..bizarre & twisted the plots become..the one playing now is not one of my favs so decided to take a break from my binge..and howbeit a little earlier than/usual and write my daily post to this slag-heap I call my blog....
   I mentioned my trip to Staples and the issues with my desk-top last night..after some efforts trying to fix &/or find a work-a-round it..the problem is the sleep-mode is not operating properly..but as has been mt habit..when done with the machine rather than letting it go into sleep-mode..shut-down..and when I re-boot..it comes up with no issues..ergo..that's what I intend to do....
   With this post drawing to it's inevitable [dang I spelled it right first time] close..all that remains of my online day are a couple of chip-drops and posting day's end to "Trollie's Game Room"..ergo II [the sequel]..nite all....

   It's been an interesting day..took the short walk to Aldi just after 09:00 and got ready in a hurry and was halfway down the hall before I tumbled..[figuratively not literally] that O had left the room without my cane..I never use it in my rooms unless my knees or feet are extremely angry with me..but always take it when I walk outside..more for my balance issues then for any other reason..but basically was to lazy to walk back and get and got to & back from Aldi with out any issues..just bananas..fruit flavored sparkling water..a package of plum tomatoes..a a 1/2 pd. of butter..

   I have  Chrome Base which is over three years old and no longer being supported..and I'm having a bit of an issue with it refusing to awake properly from "sleep mode"..in the past I've never shut it off routinely..but as  temporary fix it seems to restart ok if I shut it down when not in use..and I intend to run it until it won't run no more but have been thinking about getting a new Chrome Book as a backup..apparently they had decided to discontinue the Chrome Base..so took a walk to Staples..but they didn't have one..probably should have called ahead but needed the walk..I really don't want to buy online..I prefer to put "hands on" something I'm about to buy be for I lay my money down..but there is a Best Buy in the Mall..a bit out of my preferred walking range but I can get my bro to take me there next time he's in town..and Staples is expecting to get some soon..that being said if I disappear for awhile..it's probably because my machine crashed before I got the replacement..either that or I was swept away by the "zombie apocalypse"..well it could happen..[tongue-in-cheek]....

   The housekeeping crew was in for their every Tuesday visit so it fresh linens on which I will take my rest on this evening..speaking of which..still things to button up before that need rest..ergo..a goodnight to one and all....

   Overslept this morning..never rolled out of bed until just before 04:30 local time..I've tried other routines..wake up times but the one that seems to work the best for me is up one side or the other of 04:00 and to bed between 20:00 & 21:00..but then I am retired and for once in my life except for very rare occasions my time is my own and I schedule my day with out outside inference....
   Have re-arranged my two live games so that I have a 2 hour +/- between chip drops and it's easier that way to plan my schedule for running errands..I've never been one who like just as we would have said back in the day "winging it"..making choices//decisions  on the spur of the moment..I didn't say I wasn't good at "winging it"..I ran a very busy at times shipping/receiving/warehousing department..and had to make decisions most days on the "fly" as it where..and generally every thing ran as smoothly as possible..I was good at..but I hated the fact that I had to do it..I prefer an orderly universe..well at least my small niche of it....
   I had got one of my meds filled a week or so ago but had not pickup the other re-fill because I still had a couple of weeks left so decided to take the walk to Price Chopper..get the meds from the in-store pharmacy & pick up some fresh beg and a bottle of prepared horseradish..which I did do..but took a look in the in-store bakery and spotted a french style baguette..I have a great fondness for good crusty bread..and their's is usually spot on..had a hunk of it warmed with evoo and garlic powder with my mid-day rustic egg white frittata....
   Haven't decided the plans for tomorrow..housekeeping will make their /usual Tuesday visit and I will need to take a walk to Aldi either tomorrow or the next day..will check the weather forecast tomorrow AM..rain is expected early in the day..just a few details to wrap up for the day..ergo..Nite All....

   I have only what the weather report online and a couple of glances out my window as to the weather of today..I haven't been out of my rooms all day..although I am contemplating a late walk around the grounds here after posting here and taking the last chip drop of the day on the free poker site I play on..no reason other than I just needed a quiet day and some time alone....I can be at time a bit of a recluse..it's not that I need to avoid people and just prefer to have contact on my own terms and a times and places of my choosing..online is a differnt thing..I can react or not react and no one's the wise....
   I got another friend request today on FB from what I refer to as a "sweet young thing"..this one had a rather revealing "photo"..an action shot if you will and a link to a specific kind of videos..oy vey..but it raises a thought in my mind..I have several friends online of a very conservative point of view that are continually running afoul of the FB bots and being "sent to FB jail" have they privileges suspended..for posting things that violate "community standards"..whatever that means..[shrug]..and yet it seems to me that apparently porn does not violate those standards..oy vey....but than I'm reminded of the old adage "It just depends on whose ox is gored"[link]..peeps who post from certain points of view seem to have carte blanche..for whatever they want to say or post..and others..FB jail..on the other hand I see FB for what it is and rarely ever post anything there of a political nature or on a "hot button" social issue..it's a way for me to connect with old friends from many years ago and do some "surfing"....nothing more..it is not a place for serious discussion of current issues at least in my opinion..[end rant]....
   But time marches on and still things to do before I take my rest..ergo..night all....

   Another warm day here is the Northcountry..except for a walk to the lobby to pickup items for breakfast for today and tomorrow..and a quick trip to Dollar General for a package of cookies..a bag of ripple chips..& a package of ball point pens with colored ink that I use to log my game play..I've been in my rooms for the rest of the day..I had planned to go up the hill to the ATM today to get my "10 day walking around money" but as I mentioned last night..I took  a late walk after posting here and on the spur of the moment decided to do the ATM run last night....
   I had intended to watch re-runs of the TV show "Vegas" that USA is running a marathon of this weekend..and here's the funny thing about it..I used to like the show years a go one it's first run..one of mt fav shows at the time..so sat myself down and tried to enjoy them..and my reaction was..this show stinks..and then why did I have like it..the only thing I can think of was the first time..a few years ago I was a pretty heavy drinker..don't know..but now I won't waste my time watching that show..however the "Bourne Ultimatum" is on tonight starting @18:00 local time and is one of the reasons I'm writing this a little early tonight..[[note]: today makes it 33 months sober]....
   I went looking today PDFs of both "Brave New World" & "1984"..with all the talk of "the new normal" post CV-19..thought it won't hurt to re-read one and read the other for the first time..when I was a senior in high school one of the books we were assigned to read was "Brave New World" and over the years have read many books and articles both fiction and non-fiction on utopian
philosophy..and my conclusion is no matter how you try to create it..it will never work..because you may be able to control for a time "human nature" but you'll never remove it..one of the areas of my college studies was both religious & secular philosophies..and also historical records of the attempts..and the failures....

   It has been an interesting day..had the best nights sleep I've had in quite a while..I rarely sleep more that 2 hours with out awaking either because of the diuretic effects of one of the meds I take or because one of my joints decides to "sing" one of those mournful dirges that they are so fond of..I actually sleep continuously for just under sin and a half hours..when O did finally surface it was my left hand that was reminding me of the damage I've done to it over the years..just over 50 years ago while taking my place in the nets for scrimmage with my college soccer team I dove to block a low hard shot to my right..did manage to deflect it round the post..a hard wood 4x4..but all eight fingers made very hard contact with it..and about 40 some odd years ago when working maintenance at the factory I worked at for 35+ was helping the big boss testing one of the machines and managed to run the tip of my first finger on my left hand through a set of moving rollers that were 20 thousands of an inch apart..dummkopf..chipped the bone and it left a permanent dent in the tip of my finger ..why it picked this morning to physically remind me of my past incidents I don't know..maybe it was just its' turn....
   Except for a short walk cross the street to Aldi..just some bananas..a carton of liquid egg whites & 3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..and again that accursed crossing across Arsenal Street..I was in the walk lane w/the walk light..under state law I have the right of way..but it makes no sense to argue with to pickup trucks in a hurry and turning left thru the crosswalk..oy vey....
   Another thing that has fallen victim to CV-19..the local country fair which usually runs the second week in July was cancelled until that it held the distinction of being the longest continuously running county fair in the USA....
   As is my routine have spent the rest of the day in my rooms and online..save for watching a few re--runs of the TV "Vegas"..and of thinking about after finishing this taking a stroll around the grounds here..and still a few things to do..ergo..Nite All....

   Now I never listen to music while playing my online games..and only have the sound on if the sound effects actually aid in playing the game..on the other hand when composing the entries to my blogs I always have music/old TV episode/movie on in the background..it's an old habit that I picked up when trying to study in a male dorm/off campus house..the background level of noise and other distractions can create a very difficult environment for one to concentrate on the book being read or the paper being written..and I found playing music in the background helped drown out the racket from my dorm/house mates...my music of choice was always classical..I'd either find a local classical music station or use a cassette type machine..I did a google image search to see if I could find a pic of the machine I had..looked under "vintage cassette tape recorder"..and the one I had pre-dated the oldest one I found by at least 5 or 10 years..guess I should have searched for "Stone Age cassette tape recorders"..oy vey..but today I've been in a Jazz mode all day..both here and over at "Trollie's Game Room"....[note:while reading and editing the above discovered I rather than typing "here" had typed "hear" and I almost left it as was..I do like puns and play-on-words]....
   When I checked the weather last night before posting here as I always do..the weather for today called for intermittent T-storms most of the day today..into early AM Friday..when I checked this AM..around 05:00 or so..only a couple of hours this afternoon..later in the morning before a quick walk to Dollar General..clear weather thru tomorrow..[shrug]..an old farmer friend of my years ago was fond of saying that "The weatherman was the only person he knew that got paid for being right 25% of the time"..oh Dollar General..just a six-pack of 7.5 oz cans of Dr Pepper..a bottle of Gatorade Zero and a grinder of black pepper corns..and as/usual some banter with the pretty check out clerk..yup..I known I'm an old coot..but the day I stop looking will be the day they nail the lid over my head....
   Editing done..just a few minor changes..but the day grows old and rushes towards its' inevitable end..[dang..actually spelled inevitable correct without the aid of spell-check]..still a few to button up before I take my rest..ergo..Nite All....

   Turned out to be a quite comfortable day for my planned walk to Aldi..just after they opened at 09:00..hardly any other shoppers so got thru got the five items on  my list which I actually remembered to take with me..well accidents do happen and I another extremely rare occurrence I heard no voices from the other selections that I had to take them home with me..but was a pleasant walk and experience save for that accused mask..don't get me wrong it's actually a very nice mask..as masks go..my sis-in-law who is a very talented seamstress..who was bored to tears by having to remain home..made for me and probably a decent potion of the Northcountry....
   Got so involved this morning on getting my online activities done early and plumb forgot to get off my tuckus and go up to the lobby to get my usual breakfast but save for yogurt which I generally have with first meal and had everything I needed to no big deal..and wanted to save sometime..first for my walk to Aldi..and then to watch some of the NCIS episodes on the USA network..which I have done on & off most of the day..they're back to the older ones which are my favs..also the glut of new member request on the FB group "The Farthest Side" have slowed from a torrent to a trickle..most of the torrent I feel was caused by the CV-19 lockdown and peeps were spending more time and online than /usual.....
   For many years although I'm quite sure I dreamed I never remembered any of them..too sound a sleeper and apparently never awoke close enough to the end of a dream cycle to remember them atall..the only change now that age and a med with diuretic properties is..I don't remember any details..just that they are pretty weird..not frightening..just convoluted and very strange..and what little I do remember disappears from my mind almost as soon as they are remember..and the weird thing is although I've been retired for over 10 years..they still tend to be work related..[shrug]..now if there were attractive ladies in them....

   Tonight's "Now Playing" is basically potpourri musically speaking..at this point the number of selection in it has hit 110..been playing with the idea of maybe busting it up as it were into different groups..or maybe just taking selected performances out and forming a "select" group..??....
   Since the weather today was much as it had been predicted..did take the intended walk to T J Maxx..Price Chopper & the convenience store..I had bought a grinder of Rosemary & Garlic at T J Max probably about a year or so ago and was down to the bottom of the barrel so to speak and was very happy to find that they had it in stock again..so got a bottle..and a tin of dolma [dang spell-check]..aka: Greek stuffed grape leaves..of which I am quite fond..there was for many years a diner/restaurant if the Price Chopper Plaza that featured Greek food..and I was quite fond of the place..sadly it closed a couple of years ago..I can still sometimes find the canned dolma but what I really miss is the Gyros..there is another place in the small city I live in but it's out of my walking range..then off to Price Chopper just some shallots..some peppers..and a head of misnamed red cabbage..now I ask you if it really was "red" when added to one of my egg white dishes would it turn the egg white "blue"..I think not..purple cabbage would be a more appropriate name IMNSHO....[that's: In-My-Not-So-Humble-Opinion]..I'm not claiming to be arrogant..I just have the strength of my convictions..and don't ask my opinion if you really don't want to here it..and finally to the convenience store..was checked out by the manager..who I've known for the better part of nine years..she's a real pieces of work..and our encounters are always played with good humor on both sides..ergo..a very enjoyable trip..on both out/back pass a group of geese..and the former goslings are almost fully grown..within a week or two once they get their flight feathers they and the adults will be gone..I will miss them..and later just a short walk to stretch my legs..with the cooler weather again tomorrow will probably take a walk to Aldi..weather for the rest of week looks like back to the heat..the rain..& T-storms..oy vey....

   It had been my firm intent to take a walk up to the ATM and get a little extra cash..I need to pickup another re-fill of my other meds..and there are couple of other items I want..but not necessarily need..so I keep a extra bit of money..my "mad money"..and then take a walk down to the convenience store..although I really wouldn't need to do it until the weekend..was basically looking for an excuse to walk..besides there wasn't squat to watch on TV today..anyways..it was my first intend nonetheless..well that was until I checked tomorrow's weather..instead of the mid-80s daytime highs of today..tomorrow's forecast calls for daytime highs in the up 70s..and decided to delay until tomorrow and add a run up to T J Maxx & possibility the Dollar Tree..and maybe even Price Chopper..but decided since the ATM is in the opposite direction to take care of that task today..which I did..
   Last night after posting I ran into one of the other residents here..guys been here almost as long as I have been I rarely every see him..and we had a wide-ranging discussion which spanned many topics and was quite enjoyable....
   I had a much better nights sleep last night compared to the night before and have felt quite rested and in a much better mode than yesterday..and the day except for the walk to the ATM and a trip to the lobby this afternoon for my daily toffee coffee had been a very calm and quiet one..which is just the way I like it..the majority of my time spent in the small factory I worked at for 35 some odd years..was either in the maintenance department or as Materials Supervisor..there I ran shipping/receiving/warehousing..inventory/inventory control & did the MRP for my department. all packing materials for production as well as most of the raw materials for production..which was a very stressful job or rather jobs..and just for more fun mine was the authorized signature for the shipping and receiving of Hazmat..and was the forklift training officer..and sometimes swept out the place..so being retired I have chosen to live a life with as little stress as possible....
   The end of the day approaches so as always..let me say..Nite All....

   I had a very restless night..I was dealing with a minor physical issue that will not be explained but it woke me up repeatedly..seems to have cleared up today..so [knock wood] I hope to have a better nights sleep tonight..oh and a sure sign of Summer in the Northcountry..I got my first couple of mosquito bites of the year yesterday..nasty little rascals..but an application of an anti-itch cream and all is well....
   Walk mid-morning to Ollie's..a new container of powdered garlic..the one I was using was nearly empty..I tend to use fresh garlic in my egg white dishes but I use the powder for other applications..another box of chewy hut butter bars & another package of Korean barbecue..which I fear I'm developing an addition to..also a short walk later just to stretch my legs....
   With virtually nothing worth watching on TV today have spent the day on line playing my usual set of games..checking in on the FB  group "The Farthest Side" but very few new member requests to vet..and my usual wandering around Youtube....
   I'm sitting here trying to find something worth posting but nothing of any really import is coming to me..ergo..will draw this to and end..Nite All....

   Decided to take a walk to Aldi but to make a stop first at Big Lots..really didn't see anything that just jumped off the shelves and demanded that I take them with me..save for a couple of bottles of black cherry sparkling water..It's a flavor that Aldi doesn't carry..Price Chopper does but Big Lots' price is 25 cents cheaper..yup I know..but you have to remember..I still remember when I was growing up if I recall correctly it would have been the Summer of '61..on the way back from a church youth group outing we stopped at a MacDonald's..first time I'd ever been to one..and got a burger..fries & a soft drink and paid 45 cent..if you got a shake it would have been 5 cents more...I never deny that I am a frugal person..although some would call me a "penny pincher"..okay..maybe but I a mere amateur compared to my dad..when I pinch a penny they merely suggest to Lincoln that he consider visiting urgent care..but when dad pinched a penny they put Lincoln in the ICU and alerted the morgue..he was also a fair hand at the sport of the haggle..a trait that I have apparently inherited from him..but I digress..had a nice chat with one of the clerks who I have't in awhile..nice kid..then off to Aldi..pretty much the /usual fare but a round of smoked Gouda..which ended up in an egg white dish with some baby spinach & pencil asparagus..very nice..but also saw one of the Aldi kids have seen in awhile..another good chat....
   But the Zero-hour is fast approaching and "The Bourne Ultimatum" is just a few minutes away..ergo..Nite All....

   When I logged on to Facebook..I was greeted with the "New Look" Facebook..first impression was something said in Yiddish and it would be best if I don't translate it..and my second reaction was ..not again..awhile back Blogger..which is the software I use while posting here..[logo appears on the sidebar]..rolled out a new dashboard..the tools I use while creating and editing both the posts..layout and format..[dang I tried to type floor mat..bad Trollie..no biscuit..but I do love a bad pun]..which they say is more mobile phone compatible..wouldn't know..because of my essential tremors I have a very difficult time using a touch screen..actually more impossible than difficult..and I don't even own a smart phone..but right now the "mobile" is the option..but some time this month it will  become the default..and the old now designated "legacy" the option..and I will select the option..and the new FB format obviously is designed to be more mobile friendly..at this point it's in "beta" but wouldn't surprise me at all to at sometime find it as the default..but as long as I can switch to the old style I'll not have any issues..I did fill out their request for a comment on the "new look"..and it wasn't favorable....

   Dang days go by without squat on the old boob tube worth my time to watch..so..tomorrow..TNT is showing the 2 "Kill Bills" back-to-back starting at 13:00..[I almost typed bach-to-bach]..and USA is showing four good NCISs from 09:00 thru 13:00 and then straight into the first three "Bourne" movies back-to back [you look close to see whether I had actually typed bach-to bach]..and yes I'm in a very good mood today..but still haven't decided which of the options to watch....

   Took a walk for a few things this morning at Dollar General..just the usual except for a fresh bottle of "Texas Pete's" hot sauce..the one I have is a) a couple of years old..b) almost empty & c) has lost it's "punch"..I really like "Texas Pete's" one of top favs..but I do get a charge out of the fact that "Texas Pete's" is made in North Carolina..[shakes his old grey head]....

   Speaking of my old grey head..it's getting close to the time that I will need to place my old grey head on  my pillow..ergo..nite all....

   I have to admit that for the most part I prefer the SyFy/Monster/Horror flicks of the '50s thru the late '70s..too many of the ones made in the last 40 years or so rely more on special effects than of plot..besides they tend to take themselves much too seriously..I enjoyed the sometimes crude effects and the quite unintended humor....the old Hammer Films and the like..but then I was born in 19:47..so maybe it's now in small part just me remember the "good-old-days"....
   I can remember as a teen hearing my elders reminiscing about the "good-old-days"..and since most of them had lived through the "great depression" I used to react with a bit of rye humor..not openly of course..or I would have been taken to task or possibly the "wood shed"[link]..the funny and probably inevitable thing is I find myself remembering my youth..when things were easier..more recognizable.."the good-old-days"..and I guess my preferences to the shows of the past are to be expected....
   Was a decent day up to about 14:00 when the storm moved in..a walk to Aldi and actually took my shopping list with me..and got everything on the list..only one problem had forgotten to add one item..which of course I forgot to get..dummkopf..not a big deal..can get something similar at Dollar General and/or Ollie's and was planning a trip that way either tomorrow after the storm abates or over the weekend....
   Except for the aforementioned walk have spent the days in my rooms..got an early start this morning was logged on just before 04:00 so my play on my "live games" will be wrapped up just before 19:00..may watch some TV or something off Youtube..or perhaps try to doze off in my recliner again like I did the other evening..somewhere along my "trip" through the years the script has been flipped..never was a "morning person"..could stay up to "all hours" as we would have said back in the day..now I'm up and at 'um early and rarely ever see 21:00 anywhere but in bed..asleep....

   I had most of my online things wrapped up a little earlier than usual..by 19:00..now my normal schedule is to have everything finished by 20:15 or so..and to bed usually between 20:30 & 21:00..so I sat down in my recliner and was trying to find something to watch on TV..and trying not to doze off..as we would have said back in the day I was so tired I felt like I had been beat down into my socks..so I just listened to my body and went to bed just before 19:30..and except for the /usual 3 interruptions [one of my meds has diuretic properties]..slept thru to 04:15 this morning..had have felt pretty good today..so I guess I just needed the rest....
   I was done with all of my game play earlier than/usual before noon..but that was by design..after suffering thru a couple of weeks of the new NCIS shows on the USA network..or rather just ignoring them..starting with today's mini--marathon they've gone back to the beginning and are starting to show episodes I would gladly watch many times so except when I sat down to right this post save taking some chip drops on my live games I have been offline all afternoon....
  With the current weather forecast for the next two coming days my plan for the next two days is to take a walk across the street to Aldi..as soon after 09:00 as is convenient..and then hunker down..for the duration of the storm....
   I know that towards the end of these posts I usually relate something from my past or try to write something witty..but nothing seems to be coming tonight..so rather then make an attempt that falls flat will merely bid you a goodnight and a better tomorrow..ergo..Nite All....

   It's been an interesting day in many respects..early had a situation on the FB group where I'm a moderator..we have a very strict no-politics rule..and another mod had posted a cartoon that I thought might prompt some of the members to stray very close to crossing the line so kept and "eye" on it and sure enough while maybe kicking dirt on the line nobody actually crossed it..so I sent several PMs to the other guy and we came up with a solution..we didn't boot anyone from the groups but we did remove the cartoon..with no admin on sight I have been given the "con" by the chief admin....
   Being Tuesday and approaching the 11 o'clock hour(am)..I was excepting my visit from housekeeping..so finished up what I was doing..and as I often do was preparing to take a walk to see if I could get a estimate as to when they would arrive..two steps from the door getting ready to turn the door-nob and a knock at the door..housekeeping..now how's that for good timing....
   Late decided to head up to the ATM and get my "10 day walking around money" partly cloud..the ATM is in a covered "drive thru" lane..and as I turned to exit discovered it was lightly raining..and by the time I took the short walk back to my rooms it had already ceased....
   And a bit later a short dash to Ollie's and Dollar General..basically just some snack food and a bottle  of balsamic vinegar..and had some nice chats with the checkout girls.....
   Have spent the rest of the day online as is my custom..games..modding..and wandering around Youtube..also think I've finally made the last adjustments to the layout on "Trollie's Game Room" that I needed so make because of the loss of two of the sites I used to use..one is gone..and the other is in such disarray that it just isn't worth it to me to put up with..have moved one of the games to another site..and the other two can't find as of yet a reasonable replacement..but will keep looking..
   Speaking of looking..I'mm looking forward to the end of my day..still a few tasks..ergo..nite all....

   My original plan was to walk to Aldi this morning and leave the walk to Price Chopper and the in-store pharmacy tomorrow..now we did get intermittent rain and a thunder could be heard in the distance..but nowhere near the severity that had been predicted..but had a block of time just before 09:00 and decided to walk..and as I was getting dressed re-thought my plan..re-checked the pantry and decided to go to Price Chopper this morning..and that maybe picking up my HBP re-fill was or  at least should be the priority..so off I went..stopped in to check in with the pharmacy clerk get made meds order..was told 15 to 20 minutes..and off to get some veg..got the the garlic bulbs & shallots..and off to get some peppers and to my great dismay the were out of red bells an poblanos..oy vey..so ended up with some very nice italian peppers..checked to see if they had any pre-fried fish [cod or haddock} or shrimp..nadda..but in a moment of clarity remembered that I was nearly out of pepperoni..so bought a stick and a bottle of Gatorade Zero..and then back to the pharmacy and picked up my meds..then back to my rooms....
  This afternoon checked the radar and realized that although it was still raining lightly the squall was about to pass us by..so donned my shorts and light rain jacket and off to Aldi..just a few drops were falling..but the time I got there the rain had ceased and on the way back to my rooms the sun broke thru..bananas..liquid egg whites..three bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..and as I walked past the produce aisle I heard this very nice bag of plum tomatoes calling my name and it would have been rude to not take them back to my room as well..
   Tomorrow much like today intermittent rain..Wednesday looks good but Thursday and Friday the rains return..but both the pantry the the med cabinet is well stocked..so..all is well....
   The day as it always does is drawing to it's end and I still have just a few more things which require my attention..ergo..Nite All....

   The weather for tomorrow looks very bleak..and although there are predicted intermittent periods without rain..I have no intent of testing the weatherman'a accuracy..I was as a point of fact born in the morning..but it wasn't this morning..besides the bad weather forecast for today never materialized and I took a brief walk to both get some exercise and make a stop at the convenience store..and while tomorrow is not going to be conducive to a walk Tuesday AM and all day Wednesday at least at this time are predicted to be clear..I need a few things at both the grocery at Price Chopper and the pharmacy as well..and then past that the weather is predicted to take a turn for the worse..speaking of that do you know why you should never take a seagull for a sausage sandwich...You'd be taking a tern for the wurst..[sorry but I really can't help myself]..I've always enjoyed a good pun or play on words..and the bad ones every more....
   Have spent the rest of the day in my rooms save for to quick trips to the lobby..once for breakfast items and again this afternoon for my toffee coffee..the usual fare of "live game"..sims and solitaire..which I play not just to use up the time that I have being retired..but most of the games I play I do so to either exercise my rather badly damaged hands..or exercise what little brain I have left..mostly to keep my cognitive skills sharp..I score very high on the cognitive spacial relationships..[link]..and several of the solitaire games I play I've picked for the very reason to keep those skills sharp....

   Although it hasn't rained all day the weather forecast was so bleak and unsettled that I decided that the better part of wisdom was to remain hunkered down in my fortress of solitude with the AC turned on high..even at that the humidity is starting to get to me and the low barometric pressure is having its' /usual effect on my joints..which are both stiff and singing their accustomed low off key dirge..at this point it is tolerable but me thinks that before I lay down to take my rest my knees..neck..shoulders & back will get a liberal application of a topical analgesic....
   I spent most of the morning as I most often do online..a little "live" Poker & Blackjack..[both "free sites" only game money..faux money changes "hands"]..two sims..Spades and Hearts..and 8 different solitaire games..and keeping an "eye" on the RB group "The Farthest Side" and attending to my blogs..but except for a few details was done by design today by just before Noon..and except for tending to regular chip drops on the live game took the afternoon off..
   I say by design because two different channels were playing one each of my fav flicks this after noon..and not only didn't they overlap but one "Now You See Me" on  FX..ran from Noon until 14:30..&.."The Hunt for Red October" on AMC started at 14:30 and ran thru 17:30..watched all of the first and just past 17:00 on the second when my better judgement [or whatever I have left of it] took over and I decided it was time to get back to my regular routine and start the posting here..besides I've see "The Hunt for Red October" many times  and basically can recite the entire dialogue of the whole flick verbatim....
   The weather thru Tuesday is forecast to be unsettled at best but with the few things I got at Aldi yesterday if I can't find a whole in the weather before Wednesday it's no biggie..do need to get to Price Chopper's pharmacy by week's end to get a refill of my HBP meds..

   When I awoke this morning I had no intention of leaving my rooms today save for a walk up to the lobby to pickup a few things for first meal from the morning offerings..that is before I checked the weather for the next few days as I always do before doing my morning postings to "Trollie's Game Room"..and discovered that starting just before mid-night thru Tuesday AM the forecast calls for rain..thunder storms w/heavy rain..and periodic scattered and isolated thunder storms..now there may well be a change in the forecast or even a "hole" or two over the next couple of days..but the simple truth was that if there were none of the above I'd be out of a few things by Tuesday..mainly liquid egg whites and bananas to name two....
   Ergo..the weather this morning wasn't that bad..true the temperature was 94*F..but a decent breeze and broken cloudy cover and the humidity was around 45%..and the walk there is quite short..and the store is air-conditioned..My lightest nice shirt and shorts and off I went..got all necessary items and probably wouldn't have take more that a half an hour but ran into a couple I haven't seen in years..probably on the order of 12 years +/-..members of the church I was attending then..nice couple..just don't ask me their names..I rarely forget a face but for some reason I've never been quite able to fathomed names more often than not don't stick in my mind....While in college I had know this girl for 2 plus years and we had been seeing each other for 5 or 6 weeks..so we were sitting in the cafeteria one morning and for the life of me I couldn't remember her name..fortunately someone walked by and called to her by name..on the other hand some 50+ years  later I now remember it..the mind is a very funny thing and I am convinced my has go a very nasty streak when it comes to me remembering names..

   I frankly have no direct knowledge of what the weather conditions actually are outside today..because I've been in my "Fortress of Solitude"[aka:my rooms] all day with the AC cranked up..had no need to walk..have everything I need thru the weekend..and if the hot weather and  the prediction of T-storms over the weekend  continue..than I see no need to venture out..besides..as I have mentioned before Aldi delivers..
   So have spent the day mostly online but did watch a couple of episodes of "Treehouse Masters" on Animal Planet & Bones on TNT..had some extra time because two of the three "live games" are both still down..and the workload was light on the FB group "The Farthest Side" were I'm a moderator..it try to keep and "eye" on it most of the day..recently the chief admin has declared that if there is no admin present I have the "con"..and have spent sometime fiddling with the layout on "Trollie's Game Room"..with the absence of reports on the two live games that are down..it's cut down on the length of the daily postings..and I've be trying by adding spaces to not make any major changes until I can determine whether they are just done temporarily or one or both are gone never to be seen again....
   Over the last couple of days I've gotten pm's from an old friend..we graduated from high school together 54 years ago..lived on the same country road..and haven't seen him in the flesh so to speak since..apparently he's been getting in to the videos on Youtube for "flash mobs"..and sent me links to two..well..although I've never listed them here..I have collected a whole bunch of them over the last few months and have them collected in their own "playlist"..all 88 of them and counting..and sent him the link....

   This morning as I always do in preparation for starting my daily posting to "Tollie's Game Room" I checked the weather forecast for Today and the days following..this morning about 04:30..and as I was recording the data notice that a "Heat Advisory" had been posted and clicked on the link and what I found you can see below in the footer..in as hut shell from noon tomorrow to 20:00 on Friday..it's going to be hot..daytime highs in the 90s and high humidity..now I acknowledge that fact there maybe some who read this that are thinking that is that bad..but if you lived where I do were in winter below zero Fahrenheit temperature are not uncommon..with wind-chills in excess of -25*F not uncommon..temperatures predicted in the magnitude over the next couple of days are extremely uncommon..your body tends to adjust to the most common extreme and up here that ain't hot/humid weather..but as to cold even we in the Northcountry have our limits..except for 9 semesters of college I've lived here since July of 1966..and in that time there has been one day that the city basically shutdown for a day..nobody went anyway basically..temperature was -55*F with 55 mph winds..wind-chill was in excess of -100*F..frostbite and hypothermia..could occur in under a minutes..we may be crazy for living here but we..or at least I'm not insane..and besides as I grow older my tolerance to both the extremes of heat and cold isn't once it once was..unless it is of absolutely necessary I will not venture out if the temperature is below 0*F..or over 90*F unless the humidity is low..so my intent for the next few days is to hunker down in my fortress of solitude..and crank up the AC..
   Had no reason to venture out today save for a brief walk this morning to get somethings for breakfast from the lobby I've been in my rooms all day..and have the firm intention of doing the same for the next couple of days..besides both Price Chopper and Aldi delivers..

   Another really hot day here..not humid but just stiflingly hot for an area where the common extreme is -40*F wind-chill in the winter time..the only positive factor was that the humidity was low..but needed a few things art Ollie's..another tin of danish butter cookies..a bottle of tart cherry juice and a package of the Korean barbecue style pork jerky I walked up to the checkout and it was one of my fav clerks..I don't know which of us enjoys teasing the other more..and was greeted with the /usual "Here comes trouble" and gave the standard reply.."Hi double trouble" there was another clerk there and I assumed a new girl being trained..so I asked  if she was "The new kid"..which she was..and then remarked that is was a classic example of "The blind leading the Blind"..but 'tis always in fun on both sides..and later just a turn around the hotel..and if anything was hotter and more stifling than earlier..had intended two laps but cut it short to just one....
   Kind of a weird online day as well..as soon as I log on I take the drops that are always waiting after being off-line for 8 hours +/-..this morning @04:15..all three games I log in from FB instant games.."Poker" & "Blackjack 21" came right up..but "Video Poker Live"..I never got off the instant game page..the last time it was down you could at least get to the start screen..so I have no guess as to wants going on..whether it's down for repair or even down forever..I have had games I play go down..never to be seen again..I've tried to log on at intervals throughout the day and nadda.....I enjoy the game but if it's indeed gone..it's not actually a big deal..just will look for something else....
   Have had other than the above a fairly typical day..being Tuesday housekeeping was in carpet vacuumed..bathroom cleaned and fresh linen all round..one of the benefits of living where I do..it's a  job I was never fold of..and with age one that I would find very difficult to accomplish.....

   It was another hot day here in the Northcountry of old NYS..at times approaching 90*F..but on the bright side the humidity was ridiculously low and there was a light breeze..decided to take a quick trip down to the plaza had a few things I wanted to pickup at Dollar General..and decided that I had been to Ollie's just a couple of days ago..and really didn't need anything from there to just stop at Dollar General..a package of my fav snicker doodle cookies..4 cherry pocket pies..a bag of ripple chips..& the traditional summer cup of ice cream..and then just before I sat down to write this posting I took a lap around the hotel I live in..1 turn around I would estimate to be something between a quarter and three eights of a mile..no comparison to the ten plus mile runs I used to take almost every evening when training for soccer..cross/country..&..track[ran mile/2 mile&2 mile medley relay]..the later consists of 2 440-yard runs..an 880 yard run..& an anchor mile[my leg]..and we were a highly ranked small college team..we got an invite to run in the small college division of the annual Penn Relays..but were unable to go because of injuries to two of the members of the relay team...of course then that was nearly 50 years ago..today I walk it..and if in the mood maybe do two laps....
   Have as is my routine spent most of the rest of the day online..modding on the FB group "The Farthest Side" and checking the posts from the other groups/pages that I am either a member of or follow..and the usual "live games"..solitaire games and sims I play every day..and spending time on my YouTube channel..adding to the lists most days..also have spent some time today tinkering with the layout of both this blog and "Trollie's  Game Room"....
   The hour goes later and I still have tasks to complete before I take my rest only one thing to do before this one is done..Nite All....

   After checking the weather forecast and the traffic on Arsenal Street..decided that I'd walk this morning..had an hour and a half "window" just after 09:00 and that was plenty of time..and decided to "kill two birds with one stone" as it were..if I followed my normal procedures I would have gone to the ATM tomorrow to withdraw my "10 day walking around money" but I could stop at the ATM on the way to Aldi with just a slightly different staring point..besides it is after all my procedure and with me things are always subject to change whether by design..need..or whim..rolls..bananas..3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..a round of Queso Fresco..a package of 2 small wedges of New York style cheese cake..and..well better start at the beginning..when I had been there a few days ago they had Bing [aka:dark sweet] cherries..the first of in my not so humble opinion a season that is far too short..cherries are 3 of my four favorite fruits..unfortunately the bags were way too big for me..and I feared that some would go bad before I got thru the bag..so with great reluctance I declined..but when I walked thru the produce aisles today..they had smaller bags of Rainier cherries..and one of those bags now resides in my frig..well minus a few individuals...an interesting article about the two varieties mentioned above..[link]....
   Also had a sit-down right before I came into to start the writings of this post..just on the back lawn in my folding chair..and as I sat there enjoying the warm weather..I noticed at a distance a group of geese down at the end of the plaza just below where my lodgings are..better part of 75 yards..or about the distance in my golfing days I could hit a 60* lob wedge..thought about walking down to watch..but was way to comfortable..so pulled out my compact binoculars from my small sling bag[aka:man purse}..that I always carry on my walks and sit-downs..just enough room for the binoculars..a water bottle and a pair of reading glasses..watched form a distance..and occasional will use the binoculars to watch whatever other "wild life" that may cross into my field of view..dang..I'm old..not dead....
   Still things to attend to before I take my rest..ergo..Nite All....

   Been another hot..sunny day here in the Northcountry of old NYS..thankfully the humidity has been quite low..but save for a trip up to the lobby for some breakfast items and a brief circuit around the building mid-afternoon I have spent my day as I quite often do in my rooms..and online but did watch a few parts of TBS's "Fast & Furious" while eating my small but frequent meals..I never eat a big meal..I prefer to eat several small meals spread out throughout the day than the "standard" 3 meal plan..just works better for me..and intend to do the same tomorrow with the possible exception of a possible walk to Aldi if I get a block of time early enough to beat the heavy traffic on Arsenal St..by experience I know that before 11:00 on Sundays the traffic where I have to cross is normally light..if not then Monday it will be....
   I've joined a new group on FB for believers in  the Messiah of scriptures..both Messianic Jews & Christians with Hebrew roots are welcome..and I fit into the later of the two categories..on my dad's side research was done by his younger brother and if you go back starting in the 3rd & 4th generation and further back all of the surnames are of the Ashkenazi and there has always been the assumption that there are roots to that group on my mom's side of the old family tree as well..although I was not raised either religiously or ethnically Jewish..I do carry in my genetics some of the traits..and was interested in learning from peeps with not only the same or similar belief systems as well as similar traits..especially the Messianic Jews..and learn more about their traditions..
   I have know for years that I don't process information like many..when I look at two opposing views while I sometime pick one or the other..on most occasions I see the good and bad of both and end up with something in the middle..a hybrid of the two if you will..got me in trouble more than few times when I didn't agree with either side..but then I've always been a bit of a not conformist..ok..ok..a lot more than a bit....
   Still many things to do before I take my rest..but I now declare this one thing is done..ergo..Nite All....

   Well it was no big surprise that the stormy weather didn't make an appearance as promised..it was still in the forecast when I first checked the weather around 05:00 this morning..but when looked again about 11:00 there was no sign of it in the forecast..but at best weather prediction is in general a best case scenario assumption..and in specifics for this area less than that..
   Was up later that /usual last night and never surfaced until about 04:30..but had a great night's sleep and got right into my daily routine and was done with most of it before noon..Now a combination of the weather forecast and the fact I had no pressing reason to walk I had intended to stay in my rooms most of the day..but I mentioned last night that I had bought a package of granola bats.. Kashi chewy nut butter bars to be exact & Korean barbecue flavored pork jerky and had a few pieces of the  jerky last night and one of the nut bars as part of my first meal..and both were well enjoyed..ergo..as a seasoned Ollie's shopper I know any too well that if you like something..go back soon and stock up because when they're gone they maybe gone forever..so went down just about noon and bought 2 packages of each..and stopped at Dollar General for a 6-pack of 7.5 oz cans of Doctor Pepper..and of course a small cup of ice cream..and then back to my rooms....
   Had taken a walk up to the lobby to check on the breakfast arrangements..with the influx of guest and the loosening of the restrictions their are putting it out rather then you getting it when you ask..and again a walk for my afternoon toffee coffee..this by way of the parking lot..and in the process drove off a mob of "flying rats"(aka:seagulls}..and then with coffee in-hand back to my rooms....but my firm intent is to stay put in my fortress of solitude tomorrow save the possibility of a sit-down or a walk around the lawns here.. 
   There's a saying that "All good things must come to an end" and it also applies to this slag heap of words I laughingly refer to as my blog..well at least until the morrow..ergo..nite all....

   I wasn't planning on walking today..didn't need to until tomorrow or even Saturday and then came to my senses..or what little of those I have left..for many tomorrow is the start of the extended four day weekend  over the 4th of July which is Saturday..commemorating the signing of the "Declaration of Independence" in 1776..and the traffic will probably insane..and my primary stop was the convenience store which also happens to be the first gas station of exit 45 on I-81..and probably will be very busy thru Monday..ergo..decided to take that walk just before noon...and then on the way back to my rooms stop at Ollie's..basically just to look to see if any thing was new..got some granola bars..and a package of Korean Barbecue flavored pork jerky..and stop at Dollar General for the summer traditional small cup of ice cream..temperature was in the mid-80s with virtually no breeze..so did get a tad warmer than I would have preferred..despite having shorts and a tee-shirt on..ergo cranked up  the AC and had my  ice cream and now am back to my normal self....
   It's my plan thru Monday to stay as close to my rooms as possible and unless a dire emergency..not cross Arsenal St..it's at best when the traffic is light a challenge..but probably will be heavy traffic most of the extended weekend..full with distracted drivers..either the cellphone..the kids in the back seat or just because they're in a hurry to get wherever..and even in the designated walk zone with the walk light not a risk I'm willing to take..I've lost count of the close calls I've had crossing there..and my guardian angel my have the weekend off..besides I have bananas til Tuesday..I have to cross to get to both Aldi & Price Chopper..and besides if I really needed something they both deliver..so it's the fortress of solitude for the Mad-One this weekend....
   I love a good pun or play on words..there was a movie a few years ago titled "Born on the 4th of July"..well the SyFy network is show a marathon both Friday and Saturday they were calling "Bourne on the 4th of July"..and I will undoubtedly watch much of it..I especially like the third one...
   But the time draws neigh nigh for me to complete my daily tasks and this one is now completed..ergo..nite all....

   When I took my first look at the weather this morning around 04:30 local time there was fog in the air..and when I decided to take a walk to Aldi around 09:00 the fog was still in the process of dissipating..and it was very nice mid 70*F with just a little breeze so off i go got to the edge of the parking lot to take my usual shortcut across the front yard of the bank next store to be stopped in my tracks by a "do not enter".."pesticide has been sprayed within the last 24 hours"..and in small type.."do not remove sign"..and the prankster in me immediately thought of several ways I could have fun with that sign..but resisted and took the "long way" both times..really all I needed was bananas and sparkling water..but on the way remembered I was low on green onions..so added that to the list..I like to put asparagus in my egg white dishes but lately neither Aldi or Price Chopper has had the thin "pencil" type I like so was thinking of maybe getting some mixed baby greens..have used them before and was quite pleased with the results..so got to the store..got the bananas..grabbed a package of green onions..as I went up the aisle towards the baby greens..passed the asparagus..and lo and behold..beautiful "pencil" sized..so the baby greens will have to wait for another day..3 bottles of fruit flavored sparkling water..did check the cheese and cold cuts as I always do but nothing that hit my fancy....
   Got all of the  basic things I do online by 12:00..[except for timed drops on my live games]..and took the afternoon off..watched a couple of episodes of NCIS..some of the older ones and then watched the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" on the SyFy network..have see it a couple of times..and enjoy it..did I mention Peta Wilson is in it..when that day comes that I stop appreciating a pretty lady..that will be the day they nail the lid over my old grey head....never got back online save for the aforementioned drops until about 16:30.....
   But time rushes on..and still a few details to button up for the day..ergo..Nite All....
