   The night before last I had awoke in the middle of the night feeling very chilled..I usual just sleep in a set of underwear..the room was warm as/always but I wasn't..so last night decided on adding a knit shirt..light sweat pants & socks..and had the best night sleep I've had in awhile..will continue with the clothes..well at least until I wake up sweating my tuckus off..which has happened before and was the reason for the underwear..oy vey..../....Have only been out of my rooms twice..a trip to the lobby just before 08:00 to get some items off the breakfast buffet..&..right before I sat-down to write this post..../....Had one of my better days on Pokerist..picked my spots and mage some good hands..and a pretty good day as well on my Sims&Solitaire games..and spent sometime as I always do tending to my duties on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..../....Took a break for about an hour at 08:00 to eat my 1st meal and watch an episode of NCIS on the USA network & then just after 13:00 had my 2nd meal while watching a couple episodes of "Pawn Stars" on the History channel..I get a charge out of peeps bring in items to a pawn store and expecting to get paid what they thing something is worth (usually highly inflated) or that they would be paid retail price at a pawn shop which makes its' money from re-selling the item..besides every so often someone brings something that is truly unique and the history behind the item is often quite interesting..../....not sure exactly how I'll spend the rest of the day but "Law & Order" re-runs are airing on BBC-America starting at 17:00 continuing past my bedtime..and "Pawn Stars" as well..and a meal and a shower also have been penciled in..and a couple more times checking in on "The Farthest Side..ergo.."nite all"....[15:54 UTC-5]..../....

   I awoke this morning about the usual time and my neck which is always a little stiff in the morning was more so this morning..I made my usual postings to "Trollie's Game Room" as/always & played an hour of on Pokerist..started to play Spades and it got really stiff and usually if I manipulate it it will loosen up..but this morning it didn't do the trick as it where..and I was starting to get a headache..which I hardly ever do..so got offline..took a generic tylenol & applied a topical analgesic to both the neck and my shoulders..both of which had joined in to make the problem worse..took about a half hour to alleviate the problem(s) but since then all is back to normal..and got through the vast majority of the day by just after noon..had checked the weather and there is the threat of rain/snow starting tomorrow thru Wednesday..so decided a change in plans was in order..when I had walk to Ollie's & Dollar General yesterday I had not gotten a couple of items that I didn't need right way..would have but ran out of room in my sling bag that I always carry..I also have a cloth bag as well but with walking with a cane..and carrying a bag in the other hand is not something I choose to do..especially if I'm using one of my hilly shortcuts..which I was because it can affect my balance..I have balance issues because of the essential tremors..ergo..had sometime and off to get the few extra things I'll need to Thursday when the forecast looks better..../....I've been playing a game called Pokerist and while checking the rankings from time to time I've seen a player out of the blue as we would have said back in the day..rocket to the top of the list with over a billion chips..??..normally  the leader is in the high 6 or low 7 figures..and then disappear as suddenly as they appeared..so I did some research on Google..and found a link to a site on Youtube that gives you "cheat codes" for Pokerist to get a ridicules amount of chips..I got a friend request from one of those who apparently used the codes..he was gone and no longer shows as a friend..I've got a sneaking suspicion that the staff at Pokerist knows about those codes and bounces players who obviously used them from the game..and it doesn't help you with game-play..so what's the point..??..still a couple of things to do before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   Been an interesting day..I had almost everything done online by just after 11:00 and decided that that was a perfect time to take my walk to Aldi..just the usual fare except they has a piece of soppessata..a variety of italian  salami..the piece I have now is almost gone and they don't always have it in stock so I took the opportunity to by the replacement..and a nice chat with one of my fav checkout ladies..now if I was 30 years younger..back to the rooms and finished up the few odds and ends of my online day..save..for checking in periodically on the FB group "The Farthest Side" were I'm a moderator..and my daily posting here..and had some time to spare before posting here and the start of TNT's airing of the "Justice League" and checked the weather for Monday when I was planning on going to Ollie's to avoid the possibility of heavier crowds due to the "Black Friday" weekend shoppers..but rain is predicted for the entirety of the daylight hours Monday..and I didn't want to wait until Monday..ergo..had the time..off to Ollie's and was pleasantly surprised to find it was near as busy as I had feared..besides they had three checkout lines going and only had to wait inline for a couple of minutes..a bottle of mouthwash..a bottle of dish washing detergent ..both very usefully item but hardly interchangeable..and a tin of danish butter cookies..and again another nice chat with another of my fav checkout ladies..yes I have a host of fav checkout ladies..but in this case maybe I need to be about 35 years younger..okay..okay..I know..I'm a gimpy..grumpy..old codger..that's true..but the day I quit looking and appreciating a nice lady is the day they nail the lid over my head..../....with that trip completed I have no reason to stir from my "fortress of solitude" until Tuesday and that is what I intend to do..save for the arrival of the zombie apocalypse..or I miraculously become 30 to 35 years younger..[hehe]..the start of "Justice League" approaches and I need to do a couple of things before that..ergo.."nite all"....

   Been an interesting day..and except for the writing of this blog entry I have everything done today that I both need &/or wanted to do..save continuing to watch the LOTR trilogy on BBC-America..../....When I got to thinking about my intended walk for this morning decided that it being "Black Friday"..the start of the Christmas shopping season here in the USA and all the retail stores running specials it might be a wiser decision to delete T J Maxx from the planned itinerary..and that being done..took off just before 08:00..Price Chopper first..some shallots..garlic..a red bell pepper..a package of sliced London broil..and a crusty boule..by long experience I know that grocery stores tend to be almost empty of shoppers on Black Friday util mid-afternoon & besides they open at 06:00..then the convenience store for my dip..and on the way back a stop at Dollar general for a 6-pack of 7.5 oz. cans of diet Coke..and back to my rooms..elapse time: about an hour..had several chats with some of the clerks..had already had a good start on the day by the time I'd walked..had played an hour or so on "Pokerist"..not one of my better days table-wise..just broke even but enjoyed the play..and was done with everything by just after 13:00..made a sandwich (w/the London broil) & added some corn chips..some fruit flavored sparkling water..a couple of cookies and some good dark german chocolate and watch part of LOTR..a very enjoyable and relaxing lunch..still heed to take my daily shower and take my meds which I intend to do right after posting here and then just some LOTR and most definitely a snack or two..or three or four..../....except for a walk sometime tomorrow have nothing other that the /usual online activities..and the TNT network is airing "Justice League" late afternoon and will undoubtedly watch that..save a power outage..the cable being down or the zombie apocalypses..but I'm off to a quiet..relaxing evening..ergo.."'nite all"....[15:29 UTC-5]..../....

   Yup..I know more Bach cantatas..I've always enjoyed listening and for that matter singing the liturgical music of the Baroque Period..and before age and essential tremor took my singing voice I had a very good high tenor voice that was perfect for that style of music..../....Save for a quick trip up to the lobby for a couple of breakfast items and a short chat with J..another resident here..I've been in my rooms the entire day..The Thanksgiving Holiday here in the USA..as I mentioned below I  did have an anticipated Thanksgiving meal with my brother & his Mrs. Sunday..and a couple of weeks ago had seen a "heat & serve" turkey/dressing & gravy meal and bought it..and heated that for second meal and open a can of cranberry gelatin (oy vey..originally misspelled gelatin..without really looking just selected the top choice and discovered I had select "genitals"..dummkopf)..besides the dressing/gravy & cranberry sauce in gelatin form have always been my favs of the Thanksgiving spread anyways..../....Have spent the day mostly online but have watch parts of both "The Godfather" I & II..and part of "Wonder Woman" and probably will watch part of "The Wizard of Oz" which is on a bit later..so have spent a very quiet and restful day..../....Have checked the weather for the next two days..no rain tomorrow during the daylight hours and only AM showers on Saturday..so the plan is at this point to take my walk to Price Chopper..T J Maxx and the convenience store tomorrow and to Aldi and possibly Big Lots on Saturday afternoon..but with the way the weather can change up here in less than a moments notice will keep an eye on the weather radar..../....Have spent sometime on the new to me free live poker game off FB.."The Pokerist"..seems to be a decent site and there are things I like better about it than the last site I played on..one is without timed chip drops it far less time sensitive..../....Still  a few things to do and I'm probably "off to see the Wizard"..ergo..night all..../....[18:04 UTC-5]..../....

   Its been an interesting day..I haven't ventured out of my "fortress of solitude" save for a brief walk to look out the back door..based on the overnight forecast I expected that we had gotten some snow overnight..had looked out my windows..could see snow on the ground but because of the light (before dawn) or lack of there of could not determining how much..so walk the short distance to the back door..yes we got some snow..a dusting..a very small fraction of an inch..but the first snow of the season that didn't melt on impact with the ground..November is late for the first snowfall of the year..I can remember measurable snow on the day before the now forgotten "Columbus Day" (was October 12th this year) that measured about 15"..and several Halloweens where the Trick or Treaters had to trudge thru significant snow cover..../....Since I have already celebrated an anticipated "Thanksgiving Dinner" with my brother and his lady on Sunday last I have no plans for tomorrow save for what I do on any day..the one break from that might be that I may take is that the TBS network is showing what is a tradition here in the USA on "Thanksgiving Day".."The Wizard of Oz"(1939)..I have no idea why it has become traditional but it has..../....Over the last few days have been playing a new (to me) free live poker game that I access thru FB.."The Pokerist"..(another new entry in to ye old spellcheck dictionary)..and although I'm still getting used to the "mechanics" of the game I think it may be more to my liking..for several reasons it seems more comparable to my preferred style of play.."small ball/slow play/trapping..ergo even if the game I have been playing should return from wherever online games go for their final rest..    Well I went to log-on tho my free poker  game this morning and it was gone again,,the icon not appearing in the game's lists on Facebook..well..figured enough was enough..so went looking thru the listings on FB-games and found the "Pokerist"..and the first thing I noticed was that it was a "mobile" format game..but "full screen" which for one like onto me who doesn't even own a cellphone/smart phone..is a definite plus..besides the "larger format" is easier on these old eyes..have played a couple of times and it's a good site..so even if the other game does reappear I will keep playing on "Pokerist"..and haven't decided yet whether I'll play both game..../....When housekeeping was in today they were teasing me about the large bucket of loose pennies I had sitting on the bottom of a nightstand..what they didn't know was I was trying to find a way to get rid of the aforementioned pennies..I didn't want to spend the time to roll them..and they were too heavy for this gimpy..grumpy..old codger..who doesn't drive..to carry them to a coin sorter/counter..so I solved my problem..and gave them the pennies..they do a very good job of cleaning my rooms and they deserved a special thank-you..before that I was trying to decided who I could tick-off the most by leaving them to said person in my will..../....Have spent the rest of the day as I  prefer to do in my rooms and online..did watch a bit of the 08:00 episode of NCIS on the USA network while eating first meal..and did take the walk (indoors) to the lobby thrice..breakfast..afternoon coffee & to pay my rent for December..once it's with in a week of the end of the month..and I think about it..I pay it..../....rain has been predicted for the rest of the week thru Sunday..with rain at least part of the time..so will probably watch the radar and pick my spots to walk..a few things I need to pickup..but nothing that can't wait for a break in the weather..../....still a thing or two to deal with and a sandwich is calling my name..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   When I was checking the weather for the week this AM to figure out my walking schedule discovered that both today and tomorrow will  be in the 30s and Wednesday thru Friday in the 40s but rain forecast for all or part of all three days..two trips..the ATM for my "ten-day walking around money"(today) & to Aldi's for groceries[tomorrow) ..now if it had been nicer weather..was lower 30s this morning with the windchill in the mid-20s..I'd had just take the quick walk up the hill and gone to the ATM today and Aldi tomorrow..but..since I'd have to bundle up for the weather seemed a waste of effort for such a short walk..ergo..decided to do both errands today..Aldi first and the ATM on the way back..just the usual fare at Aldi except they had some nice pencil thin asparagus & and there was still a piece of that good dry italian salami in the "finds" so I got that as well..a nice chat with the check-out girl..nice lady..and then to the ATM..I find it more convenient to use the ATM..a drive-thru..or in my case a walk-thru then going to a teller in the bank proper..with I do when I have some business that I needed to see the  manager about..besides the ATM is "open" 24/7..../....still a couple of loose ends to tie off before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....

   My brother picked me up about 11:30 for the drive to his and his wife's place in West Carthage for a anticipated "Thanksgiving Dinner"..turkey w/all the trimmings include of course dressing and the traditional green bean casserole..won't be a traditional meal without the green bean casserole..don't ask me why but I don't care why because I enjoy it..../....no american football was watched..thankfully my brother's favorite team..The Buffalo Bills had a by-week..ergo..a very interesting chat about many and sundry topics ensued..which I thoroughly enjoyed..although brothers were are in many respects different..firstly I'm a little over 10 years his senior..I grew up in a rural environment and he in a more urban setting..and although we sometimes disagree more often than not we ended up with similar views but arrive at them from different perspectives..anyways it was very enjoyable way to spend the afternoon and earl evening..and returned to my rooms just before 18:00..../....but to make allowances for the time I was away rather than /usual I started my draft for today's post to "Trollie's Game Room" last night rather than when I usually do first thing every morning..obviously did lose some playing time on my online games but I enjoyed the break from the routine...../....but tomorrow will be back at it again..../....as I all ways do I brought my bro's wife just a few small thank you gifts..a box of white tea..a wedge of good swiss cheese and a piece of dry italian salami..for no other reason than it's the right thing to do and I know that both she and my bro enjoy those kind of items as much as I do.../....still trying to catch up with a few things that were left undone..ergo..nite all..../....

   Dang..my sleep schedule is all messed up..awoke this morning about 03:30 and quickly understood that there was no point in rolling back over..but I've always had problems of one sort or another during the transitions between seasons particularly between Autumn/Winter & Winter/Spring..and among other things it from time to time play hob with my sleep..but once the temperature stops going up and down like a yo-yo I'll be okay..../....I mentioned somewhere below that I will be spending some of the day tomorrow with my brother & his Mrs. for an anticipated Thanksgiving..be off-line from 11:00 local time to ??:??..frankly have not guess one..but I'm pretty sure that I will be back in time for my postings her but the absence will certainly cause a truncating of my normal on-line gaming activities..due to the fact that I must be one of the few holdouts in a civilized society that does not have a "smart phone"..for a few reasons..[1] I'm rarely away from my landline or desktop computer for an extended period..[2] because of my essential tremors I find the attempt to use a touch screen both extremely frustrating & futile....and I have a desktop with a mouse because I'm only slightly better using a mouse pad than I am with a touch screen..even the mouse will  occasionally have a mind of it's own..but both with practice and out of necessity have developed a reasonably effective two-handed mouse technique which works most of the time..../....Was pretty well done by noon with every thing but a few details..with the demise of the poker lots I've been playing I seem to have some time on my hands..today spent some of it watching the first Harry Potter movie and taking what may prove to be one of my last walks around my favorite "loop" until next Spring..../...still a couple things still need my attention..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   Today's weather was a big chance from the last couple of day's but having lived in the Northcountry of NYS for over 50 years I know that this time of year the mild weather of the next few days will be sadly short lived..../....I actually slept a decent nice sleep last night for a change..I must have needed it because rather than my usual wake up time of one side or another but this morning never "surfaced" until thus before 04:45 and because of that I've been running a little behind my daily schedule..to many years of running a shipping/receiving'warehousing departments for a small local factory that manufactured drip irrigation equipment I soon realized that the only way to handle the madhouse that that place was was to have a schedule..and got quite good at modifying it on the fly as it were but 99% of the time I got everything done and out the door on time..but scheduling and planning my day has followed me into retirement..I guess force of habit..but there again I am one who much prefers living in an orderly universe..or at least as much as I can arrange it my little piece of it..../....I mentioned last night that the free poker game I had been playing and assumed was gone for good has made a resurrection from the place that video games go when there gone..and so have spent time today trying to re-add those results without major renovations to the layout of "Trollie's Game Room"..the new format for Blogger has been driving me nuts with the way it brakes between lines..but have come up with a couple of tricks to "fool" it..doesn't work every time but the right margin is getting a little better..../....There are a few projects I want to spend some time on but until I get the layout stable on "Trollie's Game Room" they'll have to wait..I've been considering a creating a page or group on FB..still in the planning stages and have several ideas..haven't yet decided which one to to do..../....still a few things to accomplish before I take my rest..../....[figure out what I did..managed to post to the wrong blog..dummkopf]....

   It's been an interesting day..the high temperature was in the mid-20s F most of the day but there is a warming trend starting tomorrow and since I really didn't have anything that I really needed to get today decided to wait until tomorrow ..yesterday day I pulled a classic for me klutz move..manage to knock one of the glass dishes I use to make my rustic egg-white frittatas off the table I prepare my meals at..fortunately it was empty at the time save for some utensils and of course they scattered all about and the glass dish scattered into a few pieces but thankfully not small ones so the clean up wasn't that difficult..but as I have other dishes available so although I do intend to replace it..there was no sense of urgency..tomorrow or even the weekend will be just fine..../....I was playing my last groups of solitaire games this afternoon and had a really good result and as my damaged hands were bothering me somewhat I decided to quit for the day and check out some alternative free live games..particularly poker to replace the one that was no more..ergo..off to FB and the game page..and to my great surprise the icon for the game I thought to be long gone had re-appeared and so had the game..I've tried other poker games and this is the one that suits me the best..besides I hate to start all over again on a new game..mainly because since I play the same time every day..I am familiar with my of the other players and have knowledge of their styles and tendencies..or in poker terms I have good "reads" on them....so just played a few hands but presuming that it has indeed return [knock wood] it is my intent to resume play..on the other hand I had just finally gotten my layout on "Trollie's Game Room" this morning halfway presentable because of it's absence and now will have to spend time the next several days re-arranging it to account for it's presence..oy vey..../...that time of day is drawing nye and with the poker game back up still things that require my attention..ergo.."nite all"..../....

    Was in the upper 20s F when I awoke this morning just after 04:00 but after some consideration decided that today would be the best choice between today and tomorrow for  my walk to Aldi so went off just after 09:00 when the temperature had warmed up to a brisk 32*F..didn't check the windchill I really didn't want to know..but except for nine semesters in college I've lived in the Northcountry since 1966 and one of the things I've learned after all those years..some of those spent working outside and in unheated warehouses when the temperature with or without windchill was in the -40s F..so this morning other than a underwear..a knit shirt..sweat pants..a hoodie..and a lined flannel shirt and a hat I ventured out..the trick is layers clothing..several thinner layers are better than one thick one..now when the temperatures drop into the single digits then out will come the Carharts..lined sweat pants..and probably the long johns..and when it drops below zero..than it's a cup of tea and me watching a little TV from my recliner..unless a dire emergency..if either the actually temperature or w/windchill drops below zero degrees Fahrenheit..I stay in my warm and comfortable rooms..yup..I used to work under sub-zero conditions but then I was younger and getting paid very well..now..no way..besides that fact both Aldi & Price Chopper offer free delivery..and there are a couple of good pizza/wing shops & chinese restaurants that also deliver..and I  don't have to bundle up to use the phone or order online..../....besides the trip to Aldi I've been out of the rooms briefly twice to the lobby..breakfast & afternoon coffee..../....had my weekly visit from housekeeping this morning..and everything is as we would have said back in the day "spick & span"..../....Just a few things to button up before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   When I logged on this morning to take some bonus drops on the poker slots game I've been playing I was greeted by a notice informing me that the game would cease operation as/of 12:00 on November 23..with the poker game how gone and the blackjack not loading all of the "live" games I've been playing are gone or soon to be so..It is my intent to keep playing the poker slots until Sunday..and then decided where to go from there "live game" wise.../....I've been invited to an anticipated Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday at my bro's and his Mrs...apparently their son and his lady are coming up for the actual "Thanksgiving Day"[November 26th} but as they live in New York City..and with the CV-19 ruckus..they don't feel right of exposing this gimpy..grumpy..old codger to that deal..which is both understandable and okay with me..../....Speaking of Thanksgiving and the following day "Black Friday"..the traditional start to the Christmas Shopping season..usually the hotel is quite busy that weekend with shoppers coming down from Canada..the latest information is the border with Canada will remain closed [because of CV-19] until at least November 21st..so who can tell what may occur....'....Against my better judgement I decided to take a walk this afternoon after the rains had past but before the winds had subsided..but got to the convenience store and Dollar General without incident..did get anything except the usual fare..but when I went to exit Dollar General a gust of wind "caught" the door and opened very abruptly..but was able to keep my balance..no harm..no foul..but..??..../....the weather for the next couple of days will be colder and than warming up a little on Thursday..if mid-40s F daytime highs can be called warmer..but tis time of the year here in the Northcountry it at least feels warmer..../....still just a couple of things to hail down before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....

   I've spent a quiet day in my rooms save for a quick trip up to the lobby earlier this afternoon for my /usual afternoon toffee coffee and really haven't looked out the window to check the weather..I have two sets of drapes on my windows..a typical think one and a translucent one..I rarely pull both open especially this time of year..the small city I live in is just shy of 44* north latitude and my window looks on to the south and this time of year from sunrise to sunset the sun appears in the south part of the sky..and the direct sun into the room at times could prove to be overwhelming and the translucent drapery softens the intensity of the light..but still lights up the room sufficiently..but as we approach the winter solstice the daylight hours get shorter everyday..this morning the sun rose@:[06:59]: & sets@:16:46]:..which is  about 35 minutes away as I write this line..../....Have spent the day as I often do and actually prefer to do..the usual online gaming..tending and posting to my blogs & keeping ah "eye" on the FB group "The Farthest Side..and have also watched some TV..a little of both "Fast Five" & "The "A" Team"_and as the weather is supposed thru Monday afternoon and although the rains will abate around 13:00 the winds in excess of 20 mph will continue for most the rest of the day..ergo..because of the balance issues I have on account of my essential tremors I avoid walking if the winds are approaching  or exceeding 20 mph..I'm way too old to get caught by a gust of wind and end up falling down and busting my tuckus..ergo I'm looking forward actually to spending another quiet day in my "fortress of solitude"..I bought it from Superman for a song because Lois Lane hated the  neighborhood..[wink]..../....a couple of things yet to attend to before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....

   After checking the weather forecast this morning I decided that the walk to Aldi should probably take place today rather than wait until Monday afternoon to I left for Aldi just after 10:30..at least in some respects things are at least starting to somewhat resemble the old normal..as I pasted by on my way to the crosswalk to cross Arsenal I noticed the Denny's was open..the first time since the unset of the CV-19 restrictions..now I didn't enter or get close enough to make more than a casual observation..so don't now if it was pickup only..or if you could eat there..before I made my lifestyle/dietary changes just over three years ago I did eat there occasionally..but I thing I like about "diners"..even though "Denny's" would be upscale of some of the "greasy spoons" I have frequented in the past the one thing that remains constant is that regardless of the time of day you can always order a "breakfast" style meal..so having past by made my way to Aldi and as happens more often than not my carefully authored shopping list was still laying on my computer desk..having gotten everything I thought I had written down on the list I had prepared I got inline and as I was about to put my purchases on the belt..dang..I forgot the mini-naan bread..dummkopf..so got out of line and went back to get them..most of my purchases were of the normal for me variety save for another link of dry italian salami found in the "Aldi's find section"..you never know when and if they might have it again..besides in my considered opinion you can never have to much good salami regardless of it's country origins..or any good sausage for that matter..and earlier this afternoon a quick walk to Dollar General just to pickup a few of my usual purchases nothing out of the ordinary and back to my rooms with no reason for an outdoor trip until Monday afternoon..../....just one or two things to button up before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....

   Now I'm not by nature a superstitious..In point of fact I offered my FB friends a "Happy Tristaidekaphobia Day"..but with what has happened today..??..the live Poker game I was playing has been up and down for the last few weeks but had been on for the last five days..and played my /usual morning session ending around 05:30 local time and gone off to "Trollie's Game Room" to post the results when the play is fresh in my mind..a little less than an hour went back to pickup a timed chip drop and the game was flat not there..couldn't even get to the first screen..now I accessed it thru FB so went to my FB game page and the icon was gone..so at this point I have to assume that it ain't coming back..will eventually look for another live free Poker game but not right way..../....I needed to go up to the ATM to withdraw my next "10 days walking around money so decided to go to Big Lots first..hadn't been there for a few weeks and then hit the ATM on the way back to my rooms..just got another box of white tea bags and a tin of smoked oysters..all I can think about the process of smoking oyster is a bunch of half open oyster shells with cigars in them..but then I have been know to have twisted sense of humor..../....wasn't planning to go to Aldi until Sunday or Monday but the advanced forecast is calling for rain both days so will take a look at the forecast tomorrow and maybe go tomorrow..I had penciled in a walk to Ollie's and Dollar General for tomorrow so that might change..../....with the poker game now extinct I will have less things to wrap up towards the end of the day..well until I have something to replace it..or maybe I won't..depends on whether I can find one I'm happy with..I've looked before and never found one that as we would have said back in the day "could hold a candle to it"..../....but despite nothing to tie up tonight before I take my save one detail..ergo.."nite all"...../....

   I'm posting to here a little earlier than/usual but I have a very good reason..starting at 17:00 local time (the time I generally post to this blog) BBC-America is airing "The Hunt for Red October" which is well within my "Top Ten" movie list..they aired it yesterday as well but with a starting time of 20:00 local time and generally at that time or soon after this gimpy..grumpy..old codger is off to "dream land"..../....had all but a couple games to finish play on by just after 11:00 so decided to take a walk to Price Chopper..just some peppers..garlic..shallots & a bottle of sweet/hot mustard..and on the way back to my rooms a bottle of dish-washing detergent & a bottle of extra virgin olive oil at Ollie's..and a pre-made turkey and dressing single serve meal..Thanksgiving dinner if I  don't get a better offer..a bag of peanut butter stuffed pretzel bites..and a bottle of Frank's hot sauce and one of my fav checkout girls was working..a short conversation..now if I was about 40 years younger..../....Have spent the rest of the day in my rooms online..games..blogs..modding on the "Farthest Side"..trying to keep a closer eye on that than/usual..as we are a no-politics site..and with the commotion over the results of the recent election the possibility of someone "stepping over the line" is quite possible..save for a little TV while eating both 1st & 2nd meals..../....Still a couple of things to do before I go off to "Hunt for Red October"..ergo.."nite all"..or rather.."good afternoon"..../....

   After checking the weather forecast last night the rain was predicted from 06:00 thru 17:00 today..or all the daylight hours..so decided that I'd stay in my "fortress of solitude" online and maybe catch a couple of episodes of NCIS on the USA network..a re-check this morning had the rains ceasing around 15:00..really didn't think about changing my plans..until I looked out my window just before 13:00 to find that it wasn't raining and a quick check of the local radar confirmed the storm had past..now had a series of drops/bonuses on my live games @13:15 took those and debated whether to eat 2nd meal and then go to Aldi or visa-versa..decided in favor pf the latter and off I went..and was glad I did..just needed the usual fare but spied in the "Aldi's finds" section a package of spicy dry italian salami sticks..a vast improvement over Slim-Jims..and they went back to my rooms with me..so I'm gnawing on one of them whilst contemplating 2nd meal..chopped some red onion..a small golden potato..some garlic powder..harissi spice mix..a little dry parsley(which I love with potatoes)..fresh cracked mixed pepper corns..olive oil & irish butter..and 4 minutes in the microwave..added some of the sausage..a couple of chopped pepperoncino(also one of  today's purchases)..6 chopped black olives..some english cheddar and of course some liquid egg-white..and 3 minutes 45 seconds in the microwave and a couple of minutes to set and cool..a little black himalayan sea salt to taste and we had a winner..which will certainly be added to the 2nd meal rota..../....Have spent the day as I most often do..online gaming..fulfilling my duties as a mod on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..a little TV..some Youtube..and tending my three blogs..a simple..and as free of stress as possible..boring to some I'm quite sure but after 35 years of stress and the hubbub of a factory..I find "boring" to be calm and restful to this non-conventional..non-conformist..../.... just a couple of details to sort out before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   As I sit here this early evening the sun is about to set for another day :[16:42]: local time..with that in mind after a day when the only time I was out  of my rooms was just after 07:30 to get a few things from the morning breakfast buffet..about 15:00 decided to take a walk later..well that's before I checked the sunset time for today..and walked just after 15:15..I have always had below normal night vision and it hasn't improved atall with age..in fact it's gotten a tad worse..and add to that because of having essential tremor I have the balance issues that come along with the  "shakes" and try to avoid walking at night unless absolutely necessary..and since the stretch of warm weather we have been enjoying ends today..I decided to maybe take my last walk for the next few months with out having to "bundle up"..so off I went..my usually loop and a short "sit down" in the small seating area at the corner of Arsenal & West Blvd..and then back along Arsenal to the lobby for my afternoon toffee coffee..../....because of a late chip drop on the Poker game I play..which is finally back up [knock wood] just before 21:00 last night got to bed about and hour later than is/usual..and never rolled out of bed until nearly 04:45..a late start to my online day..and add to that being Tuesday I had the appreciated interruption from housekeeping to change my linens..vacuum the rug and clean my little boy's room..so rather that being done with my normal routine around 13:00 wasn't done with all but the last few details until just before I took my walk.../....with the rain predicted for most of the daylight hours tomorrow have no plans to venture out from my "fortress of solitude"..not an issue because I really have no need to walk until Thursday or even Friday..and tomorrow is the day the USA network is airing "NCIS" re-runs most of the day so I'm sure I will spend some of my day..relaxing in my recliner..../....one or two details to deal with before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   It was a beautiful sunny day here in the old Northcountry of NYS..but save for a short walk thru the parking lot earlier this afternoon to the lobby to get my afternoon coffee and then a brief sit down on one of the benches to drink said coffee I've not been out of my rooms all day..and except for a trip for coffee or to the morning breakfast buffet have no reason to venture pout until Thursday or Friday unless this nice run of weather ceases..../....with the total dearth of any thing to watch on TV have spent the day online..In 1961 Newton Minow mad his famous speech calling TV the "vast wasteland" and although some would disagree in my not so humble opinion not only has it gotten any better but has sunk even lower..I give you the deluge of so called "reality TV" shows [end rant]..../....4th year in college I had a housemate "DC" who among other forms of wildlife had a woolly monkey..who was a terror..I was sitting in the common room watching something on the TV..and the little guy took my glasses..got them back..he pulled my hair..I pulled his..he bit me..I bit him..after that if he was raising a ruckus..all I had to do was snap my fingers..point to spot on the floor and say his name.."JC"..and he'd come groveling..I guess I was the alpha monkey..anyways I'm studying in the library one Saturday afternoon..when a friend came to me and said "DC" needs you.."Why?".."DC" had brought JC on campus..lost hold of him and JC went up a large oak tree and won't come down..dang..so off I went..a crowd had gathered..which I told to move back..and said JC [in my sternest alpha monkey voice]..snapped my fingers and pointed to my feet..he's looking..I repeated and down he came..DC got him on the leash and I went back to my studies....someday I'll tell you about DC's profane parrot..../....still a couple of things to attend to..ergo.."nite all"...../.....

   Been a quiet day save for the short walk to the lobby this morning to pickup a few things from the breakfast buffet & the short walk down the hill to the plaza..stops at Ollie's and Dollar General otherwise just in my rooms online and did watch a little of the movie "Red Tails" on HBO and probably will watch some of the movie "Battleship" which airs later also on HBO..../....I was all but done online by 19:00 and decided to watch the replay of last Sunday's American football game between the Bills & the Pats on the NFL network..all they show is the plays..no halftime activities..or the huddles..just the plays so  instead of 2 plus hours..game only takes about an hour..now about 19:15 I was both trying to watch the game and trying not to fall asleep in my recliner..and gave up and was in bed before 19:30 (usually stay up until after 20:00 and occasionally 21:00..so there were the /usual interruptions in my nights sleep due to the diuretic properties of one of my meds..so surfaced at 03:45..I usual get up about 04:00..but was warm and comfortable right where I was so rolled over ignoring the time..well the next time I saw the clock the time was 04:45..so the day got off to a late start but have felt pretty good all day..../....both the poker and blackjack games I play online are both down so the late start really didn't matter..../....have spent a little more time on the poker slots game I play and more time on my moderator duties on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..now although we have many members from outside the USA..of our 45'K+ members the majority are from the USA..and with the results of the presidential & the possibility of challenges to the results..there are some peeps who are a little on edge..and the group has a very strict "no political comment or post" rule..so we've been carefully screen pending posts to avoid something that might provoke an inappropriate response..and the necessity of blocking a member..not something that I like doing but too many FB groups that have nothing to do with politics have been ruined by political comments..and mods who don't at the very least delete them..../....still one or two things to attend to..ergo.."nite all"....

   Sometimes I think I'd probably forget my head if it wasn't attached..[checks to make sure it's atop his neck where it belongs]..../....it was a quite pleasant day for a walk and was well into my day so decided to take a walk to Big Lots & Aldi and off I went right around 09:00..got all the way to Big Lots and in the process of getting ready apparently I got distracted and had forgotten to take my sling bag..ergo..nothing to carry my purchases..since I walk with a cane carrying a bag is very clumsy for me..so I looked in Big Lots for a backpack or similar and found nothing..besides took a look and nothing I really needed anyways..so back to my rooms and got the sling bag and over to Aldi..just the usual fare but I needed fruit flavored sparkling water and of course bananas..besides that just some good german dark chocolate and a couple of squeeze bottles of fruit flavoring for my water bottles..and then back to my rooms..and a walk that should have taken me maybe 40 minutes took the better part of an hour..but with two of my three live games still down it really just was loose time anyways..../....Freshman year in college there was a sophomore who had been apparently a big football hero in high school [gridiron not the real football] and used to give the freshmen a hard time..well..LR..BD..& I and a couple others knew when he left for the day [he lived locally] so hide a couple of cement blocks by the corner on campus where there was a stop sign..he drove a VW beetle..well he stop..a couple of guys picked up the back end of the car and we  put the blocks under the pan chassis so that the drive wheels were off the ground and walked away..have no idea how long it took him to fix the issue..but he left us alone after that..../....was channel surfing earlier and discovered while it wasn't in today's listing AMC was showing "Return of the King" so watched that for awhile..../....with the live games down only have a couple of things to deal with before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   I'm posting today much earlier than is/usual for me..in about an hour from when I am writing these words the AMC network is starting to broadcast the second and third movies in the "Lord of the Ring: series..and then about an hour after that BBC America is broadcasting the first three "Bond" movies..need I say more..of course I will but  not necessarily on this subject except to say let the binging begin..../....I was checking one of my groups on FB earlier and its for old-timers like me who grew up in the in or around Buffalo New York..and basically asked if you spent your Saturdays at the movie theater..which I had not..my family attended a very conservative church..old school..and among other things going to the movies were verboten..so when I went to college I had never been in a movie theater..and the college..a very conservative baptist college had the same rules..but the papers were advertising the playing of the new movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"..a flick myself and one of my teammates on the soccer team dearly wanted to see..now attending a movie in a movie theater was grounds for dismissal from the college..now I'll call him LR lived in the area and had a car..so we decided to go see it but picked a showing about 20 miles from the college so off the we went and another friend BD came as well..we enjoyed the flick and didn't get caught..but we weren't particularly worried about it..LR's dad was the senior pastor at a very large baptist church..and one which the college used the facilities of..and was on the college board of trustees..so we figured we were pretty safe..../....same guy and I used to deliberately let our hair grow past the length prescribed in the rule book..the college had a very strict dress code..and the athletic director would give us 10$ each to get our hair cut..now we did get it cut..but not by a barber..LR's girlfriend at the time cut hair..we'd order pizza with the money and invite her and she'd bring a friend and we'd get our hair cut and enjoy the pizza..../....there are more stories of LR & my escapades but maybe another time..still a couple things to wrap up and movie to watch..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   Now when I'm put in a situation where I don't know what might come next I fall back on my science,,philosophy_background and formulate a working hypothesis to try to determine the possibilities of what may come next..cause in point the current policy in the USA of social distancing and the wearing of masks in public..possibility #!: once this situation of CV-19 is resolved we will go back to where we were before..probability almost zero..#2 although we might briefly go back to the old normal..in all probability these restrictions will come back again & again..probability: quite high..#3 current restriction are more or less the "new normal"..probability: maybe not as high as #2 but..and I've stated this because it was put in action on my short walk/shopping trip today..early afternoon I decided to take the short walk to Ollie's & Dollar General..and prime among the items I needed was a package of disposable masks..I've tried the more permanent type but find the disposable ones more comfortable and easier for me to breath through..I had an option..a package of ten for $4.50 or a box of 50 for $8.50..now i am by nature quite frugal..and if I honestly thought that #1 was a real possibility I would have purchased the pack of 10..but did the math and figured if I ever need a second pack..which I believe is more probable..yup..bought the box of 50..and a box of quart size storage bags..both at Ollie's..then at Dollar General..a package of cookie [of course snicker doodles]..a bottle of Gatorade Zero..a bag of cheddar cheese popcorn [yes I am addicted] & a package of colored ink pens..../....the Poker game is down again so have spent some time on other concerns..../....just a couple of things to wrap up before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"..../....

   It had been my original intent to take my walk to Price Chopper & the convenience store on Thursday..and spend my extra time watching re-runs of NCIS on the USA network..on Wednesday they run episodes from 08:00 to 19:00..usually the first couple of the first ones run are the older ones with Tony & Ziva..and as the day progresses they move to the newer ones sans Tony & Ziva..which I really don't enjoy..so when checking the listings this morning discovered much to my chagrin that all of the episodes scheduled for today were post Tony & Ziva..ergo the walk was rescheduled for today just after 10:30..along with getting a re-fill for one of my meds..I needed some prepared horseradish..a couple of containers of bouillon cubes..both vegetable & beef..but since I can never remember how to spell bouillon..[as/usual had to look it up for this posting]..&..because I'm having none of the "phony" foreign spelling on my shopping list it always appears as "Bullyon"..well it more or less phonetically correct..and some italian peppers..just a short list..I found myself drawn to the deli section and heard a wee small voice calling to me..a lonely package of hot capocollo [dang..I guess spellcheck doesn't like italian cold cuts]..and decided that I must take it back to my rooms..it was the right thing to do..and off to the convenience store for a tube of chew..a little earlier than/usual but just a short detour on my walk..and back to my rooms but it stuck me that yesterday on my walk with the windchill the temperature was +22*F and when I walked today..a quite pleasant 60*..years ago when I went to work in the morning the temperature was 72*F..as I went home about 9 hours later the temperature with windchill was +32*F..ah..Autumn in the Northcountry of upstate New York..../....still one or two things that demand my attention..one of them is a sandwich with a slice or two of the aforementioned capocollo...ergo.."nite all"..../....

   Was in the mid-30s just before 09:00 when I made my planned walk to Aldi for the usually fare..it was a bright sunny day with winds in the 10 mph range and a windchill of +22*F..but was dressed for it and the walk was quite pleasant..with the usual items I got about a 7" piece of soppressata soppressata a dry italian salami of which I am quite fond..have already included it with some potato..green onions..shallots..fresh garlic..Romanian cave cheese..spices..and liquid egg-whites in the rustic frittata I had for second meal..../....speaking of the weather the storm of last night fell quite short of what was predicted..before the following rain washed it away we did briefly had a sprinkling and trace of snow on the ground..I've seen more sugar on a powdered doughnut..and the 7 to 12 inches predicted for the Tug Hill Plateau I am told amounted to maybe a couple of inches..don't get me wrong I'm not disappointed atall..Since reaching adulthood [there are those who would argue that fact] I have never been fond of snow..but then for many years I was the supervisor in charge of a shipping/receiving department here in the Northcountry and had to deal with the havoc that a couple of feet of snow and the accompanying cold weather could wreak on a parking lot and loading docks..the only reasons I put up with it were 1] I had Carhart cold weather gear..2] I was getting paid quite well..still have the Carharts..but ain't getting paid for it any more being retired so I'll let someone else deal with it..../....just a few things left to deal with so will take my leave of you..ergo.."nite all"

   Actually slept quite well last night and except for 2 short walks by way the halls to the lobby..first for breakfast items and later for  the afternoon cup of coffee have spent the day in my rooms..need to walk either tomorrow or Wednesday to Aldi and then later in the week to Price Chopper among other things I need to get my prescription filled for one of my meds..although the temperatures tomorrow will be in the 30s..it's predicted to be partly cloudy and winds around 10 mph..so will at least consider the walk to Aldi tomorrow..and a stop on the way back to the ATM for some "walking around money" and then to Price Chopper before weeks end..../....Along with the usually online gaming which went a lot better today than yesterday have spent time creating a play list of some of my favorite books in audio-book format..among others I've found most of the "Hornblower" series.."The Hunt for Red October".."The Andromeda Strain" & "Brave New World"..so anticipate many hours of enjoyment..../....But with the continuing absence of the poker & blackjack live games I play have had to extra time today..spent some watching "Pawn Stars" and "Star Wars VI"..I get a kick out of some of the sellers on "Pawn Stars"..the ones who think that every weird item is worth  a fortune..or the ones who expect that they should get "list price"..dang..a Pawn shop is not a collector..they only by to re-sell and must make a profit..I enjoy the show firstly because you get to see items you would probably never see in your routine life..and secondly I love a good haggle and am myself quite adapt at that art form..the thing about a good haggle as a buyer is you know the seller is still making money and know that he knows that you know he's still making money..but you do it for the pure fun a haggle can be..../....want to watch the end of the Star Wars flick and BBC America is playing "Law  & Order" re-runs later..and except for a few bonus drops on "Video Poker Live" my online day is done just as soon as I say..nite all..../....

   Actually I've seemed to have made the transition because of the adding of the hour back that was removed in March..and started my day pretty close to the 04:00 target..and except for a walk in the early afternoon for my toffee coffee have been in my rooms all day..the weather when it wasn't raining..was still damp..dreary..and the wind was blowing most of the day in excess of 15 miles/hour..and because of my essential tremors and the balance issues that go along with that condition I try to avoid unless absolutely necessary to avoid walking in nigh wind conditions..../....Have spent the day online between my online gaming.,ten ding to my blogs & playlists and spending time attending to my duties as a moderator on the FB group "The Farthest Side"..have worked thru the initial problems getting used to  the new FB format..all the tools for moderating are still there just in a different order and in different places..but one thing I really like is the option of a black background rather than a white background..it makes it much easier to read with these tired old eyes of mine..as to the change in format on Blogger..my mommy always used to say if you can't say something nice about someone(something) say nothing..../....did take some time away to watch part of the movie "Now You See Me"..one of my fav flicks..../....still a few items to attend to before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....
