Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

weather has been really strange the last few days, for that matter the last 6 weeks or so, it was in the 50's*F today, and rain both yesterday and today....normally this time of year it's i the mid 20s*f and we have snow on the ground, at this point there is no chance that we will have a white Christmas...i know many will be sad, frankly i could care less, but i wish:
a] it would stop raining
and
b] my rumitiz would calm down
i need to walk either tomorrow or the next the next day...because nothing will be open on the 25th...i need to get prescription filled, [ and no it's not lithium]
decided to stay put on Christmas, i had an invite but really wasn't in the mood....

Saturday, December 19, 2015

i got to thinking last night, that i hadn't really played any serious chess in nigh on forty years, so i decided to call my bro, who has played online chess for years...3 problems...i lost the scrape of paper i wrote his number on, couldn't remember it,  and no telephone book, but thanks to whitepagers.com...and he gave me the names of several sites...haven't tried 1 yet...but...

Friday, December 18, 2015

i rarely eat breakfast, well in the morning anyways, but if i go to a diner i will almost always order breakfast regardless of the time of day....but i'm getting ahead of myself...quiet day...but to many my eating habits and what i consume may seem a bit weird, i rarely eat a big meal, prefer to eat multiple small meals...but today's menu...very typical...well at least for me, polish sausage with BBQ sauce, a few figs, Turkish,..some olives, mix of Greek and Italian...most with pits....and a soft pretzel......and i'll be up a few more hours...so who knows what else may pass...spent most of the day watching some boob tube, and playing Blogshares...found a new tactic...
someone asked me the other day if i was going to go see the new Star Wars movie, and i quipped that i would wait to see it on HBO, truth be told the last fix i saw at a movie house was the original Star Trek movie...but the 7 film in the series, if it was 7 peeps playing music it would be a septet, you know i can leave it there, etymology of septet.

Thursday, December 17, 2015

so i made one of  my nocturnal walks tonight, i needed a few things, but most of all, i wanted to take a walk and put some mileage on my new shoes...but glad i did...the food market i shop at from time to time has breaded precooked shrimp at a good price, i got 2 packages...3 cans of soup on sale...a brick of good local cheese on special, and a frozen cheese steak sandwich...
It's Beethoven's birthday today, and he doesn't look a day of 245 years old...
weather forecast changed again, as per usual...tomorrow  and Sunday look okay but Saturday...possible lake effect snow......

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

the weather the next four days could be strange, Thursday and Friday, rain and the probability of snow this weekend...welcome to late fall in the NorthCountry....which leads to the possibility of snow cover...now we have had on occasion a green Christmases but they are rare, by this time we usually have snow cover...

Tuesday, December 15, 2015

it's been a weird day...  but then what's new....my acer has been giving me fits today....weather continues to be crazy for early december...but i have had an up and down day as well

Sunday, December 13, 2015

The Latin police have not bothered me for a long time but this post and the link i've added may get them back, they may even swear out an injunction against me to never use a latin word again, when i was a kid we  used a form  of communication to confuse those who didn't know the gag...i've placed a link to a pig latin/english translator on the right..........
i've changed the template here again, also added some more links to the right

Saturday, December 12, 2015

had a nice lunch, for some unknown reason, it seems that we must celebrate something that happened 68 years ago today, frankly i rather not be  counting but if then i must, then i will celebrate the 50th anniversary of my 18th birthday....

Friday, December 11, 2015

i hung out on G+ for a while, on communities I thought were open to discussion, open to different views, well i was wrong, i actually put my real name out there...well more or less, a nick but the actually surname not a big surprise ....maybe i was a bit optimistic but...no one really wants to discuss, their just want you to accept their point of view, i still lurk from time to time, and there are a couple i might post to, a couple of poetry communities...the only reason i don't quit entirely is a family community...i've switched my nick on G+...to the nick i've been known on line for many years the "Mad Trollie".......
in about 9 hours i will turn 68 years old [ i'm not going to try that old bit about 68 years young...it's stupid, i've earned every day, every bump, every....[fill in the rest]]
have lunch date with my sibs and their spouses tomorrow...not a bad thing...
the weather has been weird the last month or so, and now it's heading for the surreal....today's temperature is 52*F...this is the north country, we should  be hip deep in snow...temperature should be some south of 32*F or even 0*F....but took my morning walk in a light hooded sweatshirt, my Hogan hat on my head...except for the wind, quite pleasant, don't get it twisted, i'm not complaining..but it's just spooky

Wednesday, December 9, 2015

I haven't posted much to any of my blogs over the last few days, i've been distracted , have a cold drink and a egg sandwich with a slice Lebanon Bologna..( link down on the right if you what)...but it reminded me of the many sandwiches i took in a paper bag when i was in school several eons ago, many were the a fore mentioned smoked sausage....i love playing with words, i love homonyms...
try below:
"A foul fowl just dumped on my head"

Monday, December 7, 2015

I mentioned awhile back that i was thinking about adding a 4th active blog...what i didn't say..was that i've been thinking about it a lot, and for the last few it has existed,  and i've been posting in private..but i've got enough posts and have decided to turn it loose in public...but i don't expect it to appeal to everyone but you can find the link over on the right, "Under the Bridge"
This is Dec. 7th, and TCM is showing a bunch of movies made in the early 1940's....by major studios, major producers and directors, and in some cases big stars of the period, but let's face it, they were thinly veiled propaganda films.....well  part of the purpose to aid the war effort, that's historical, and excluding that, they are still of interest and reasonably well done....the one showing now is just straight propaganda....

Sunday, December 6, 2015

this will be brief, spent most of the day messing with Blogshares...you'll find the badge wandering over there on the left

Friday, December 4, 2015

[ just an explanation, am on a G+, yes, do i have the option of using my G+ profile here, yes....but  was on blogger long before there was a G+, my close peeps knew who i was but i liked the ability to write what i thought with a bit of privacy...limiting and controlling what i gave away and what i concealed....i thought long and hard [for about 20 seconds, but a good 20 seconds] and decided not to use my G+ profile here....i don't mind being public on G+...but here i prefer to hide under my bridge and only sally forth...when i feel like it]
i have been working on a new template and layout for another blog...that would give me four active blogs, and one dead and buried...this one is a catchall...i have a links blog...a poetry blog...but even with that there are topics i really don't want to post in any of the active 3...i have 90 days to activate the 5th one.....i'll add a link if i find material to post there...to activate it..
[ UPDATE: i've decided to move my dead blog to private, and the new one as well, i will decide at some point whether to move the new  one to public...but now it's just me venting in peace...in my "Fortress of Solitude" .....{the mad one flies away, his Black Watch tartan cape flapping in the wind....giggling}]
i got an email today...basically we saw you blog and wanted to get me to review their product for a couple of cans of  their product.....now i'm maybe slower then i once, but i'm still pretty quick when hitting the "Report as Spam" button...i could make a little scratch [aka money]...if i ran ads on my blog(s)...but for me that defeats the purpose of a blog, well at least from my perspective..but enough of this...there's nutty things to talk about...
one of those late fall days which normally get me down...low 40's*F...grey slate skies....damp...windy...but have had a mellow day...brief walk...trip to the bank for cash...a typical [at least for me] breakfast [ no one ever expects the etymology link for the word breakfast...[link]]...OJ and an egg & sausage sandwich....just finished a snack , a mix of good olives, and a nice sheep's milk cheese...feeling very good...but when i feel this good can the madness be far away....so buckle your seat belts .........thinks could get weird.........
sometimes as i get older i will remember a blast from the past...now at the time in western NYS...there were no malls...we had Plazas know now as strip malls, but there was one just outside the city limits of Buffalo that was huge...several 100's of yards long, and room for 100's maybe 1000's of cars...as we walk to the place our car was parked the was this man taking with his hands as much as speaking and in broken english saying "I lost the car"....now in that area at that time  [the '60's] there were a lot of first and second generation polish emigrants in  the area, dang probably half my school were polish, there at the time was a polish language radio station in the area...so he helped him find his car..but i remember my best friend at the time GW...at 16 he was 6'5 and 265lbs. with very little fat, but his dad was a riot, he was the first US citizen in his family...he was born on the boat as his family came to the US and as it was under US Flag...a great guy...he once said to me "If someone calls me a pollack that's okay, that's what i am...but if some one calls me a [blank] pollack i get mad
[ for the blank substitute your fav 4 letter word]
i grew up in a school system that was 80 to 85 percent, german or polish or a mix of both, all either farm kids or factory kids....the toughest kid in school was named Barbara...nobody messed with her, well other then me....i loved a challenge....still do... the weird thing is today this would be impossible...if you checked the pocket or purse of 90% of the students in my High School, there was a pocket knife, if you looked in the closet of 80% there was either or both a 22 rifle and/or a shotgun[and i  mean both the girls and the guys]...they were tools, we were rural kids...we never used or even thought of them as weapons[unless of course you were a woodchuck]...i always got a kick out of listening to my elders talk about the "Good Old Days" and laughed about it [obviously not to their faces]...yet i find myself doing now exactly the same thing...
[ if you thing this post is not PC then fine...i have no time for that...just too old and grumpy]

Thursday, December 3, 2015

this is a hard thing(s) i intend to write here, to say i'm complicated is an understatement, i probably would have fit better in the age when the renaissance man was accepted...and respected...in today's culture...i at times am considered weird...strange...and i embrace that....i have at this point have 3 diverse blogs, but i have considered starting another two or more...do i add one for military history..do i add one for liturgical music...do i add one for my love of ancient writings..or my love of old languages...or etymology...what every comes to mind...i'm conflicted....i think that might be an appropriate middle name......lets try it on for size...Mad Conflicted Trollie.....or is that redundant...
got up about 7am...had some OJ, went out about 9am, because of the weather had not been out for a couple of days...still may get winter mix this evening...but had a weather break so...i won't go into great details but... did get some nice sheep's milk cheese [ i know..i know...as i trollie i should prefer goat's milk cheese, can't stand it, so sheep's milk cheese is close enough....I SAID CLOSE  ENOUGH], and a nice mix of olives from the olive bar....but i regress....i had earlier in  the day, broke a pair of reading glasses, not the first pair of glasses i broke, but i always have two pairs, sometimes 3, a pair of half readers 2.75's for shopping, and 1 or two pairs 2.5's for reading and playing with my laptop....

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

today has been many things, most of which i really didn't like too much, damp, wet, raining, grey slate skies...another day stuck in my rooms....nothing to watch on TV, one of the sites i kill time on down....so i did the next best thing...i took a nap....all of the above haven't changed...just my attitude towards it.....and the best thing the same crap tomorrow except maybe some snow...just wonderful [NOT]....

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

To be fair and honest i am in the process of watching the entire movie of the Kingsman, i now have seen the whole thing......and i lived....i made the the comment that it reminded me of a shooter video  game but i might have been a bit premature....while it does have elements of the afore mentioned video shooter game, but i now believe that the true definition is more like one of the old cartoons i loved as a kid....Bugs vs Elmer Fudd...Bugs vs Yosemite Sam...Bugs vs the Tasmanian Devil...et al. but i'm not a kid anymore ...but with real actors....less a graphic novel....and more a bad dime comic..[yes i'm that old]..........i love mindless entertainment, but not that mindless...the only thing worse...would be a sequel.....
[on the mad one's scale i'd give it....nothing]
[but i did like the rendition of Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance  #1]
[but that was the only thing]
I've been playing with using  a pic to use on my title page as background, but hadn't found something i really liked...but got to thinking of time zones, and went looking for a map, and then thought (a painful thing for me) and found the one that now graces the background for the title page...so at least physically you know where Troll54 is...well at least in UTC time...
[as to the post below the tremors left almost as quickly as they came]
i have a disorder known as familial tremors, it not constant but occasional, but today is one of those occasions. [i've added a link to the right].....it's with great difficulty that i post this...but

Monday, November 30, 2015

know in most cases i believe that "Reality TV" isn't....but i've been watching for awhile "Street Outlaws"...but IMHO i think that it's may be reality tv, but i know those guys are " Meshugener".[if you don't speak Yiddish there is a link to a Yiddish dictionary on the right] but i've added a link over on  the right for "Street Outlaws".
the weather over the last month or so has been 2 or 3 clear days, then 2 or 3 days with rain and or snow....since i don't drive anymore and it's hard  to impossible for me to get out in the rain or snow i've been watching the weather closely to pick days to walk...rain and or snow for the next two days, but woke up and the rumitiz was acting up and the legs, well they did reach from my hips to the floor, but can't say much more for them...did take a short walk to get things i might run out of, but probably shouldn't have...

Sunday, November 29, 2015

the movie "Kingsmen" is playing on HBO, and admittedly i've only caught the last hour, twice, but what i did see, i'm not sure i'd what to waste the time to see it all, but i can see where it would appeal to those who like shooter video games...i thought i wasn't watching a movie but looking over someone's shoulder playing a video game...not my cup of tea ....but

Friday, November 27, 2015

went to my Sis's place for thanksgiving dinner yesterday, and i got thinking of family gatherings of the past....for a while i was the kid, the younger generation, but marriage, kids, for  the longest time we were the middle generation, and know with the passage of time i find myself in the older generation, the last generation, my elders in our extended family have all passed....at one time all our immediate family was close by, holiday meals were a house full....yesterday there were only 8 for dinner...family now is spread out hither and yon........

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

i used the term "meower" on a G+ community and no one seemed to know what i was talking about, although i wasn't there at the beginning of the internet, i guess i was online before all of the peeps on that  G+ community... went on line in '96 [ that's 1996, not 1796...despite what some peeps think i not that old] but my D went away to university..and i got a computer so we could email...but i soon found Usenet [basically what was called bulletin boards....kind of a early form of G+]...i posted to a bible board, a classical music board, a brain teaser board, a bible study board, a jewish board, and for the sake of this post 'rec.sport.golf'...and that's where my path crossed with the  meowers...they began as a bunch of bored Harvard law students...who took over a lame fan board, and decided to launch troll/flame attacks on what they decided were lame boards...and attracted a mixed bag of followers...a couple who decided to attack rec.sport.golf....i emailed and IMed the moderator of the board and we decided rather then to ban them, we'd pay them a visit, and retaliate...well in the end a truce was formed, although i would from time to time play with them, although i never went raiding with them..
[if your interested check out "The one true History of Meow" [link]]
i was watching a news forum and they asked the peeps their funny thanksgiving stories..and it reminded me of a story that i had to get in "the way back machine" [or if you prefer the "WABAC machine] to remember...i was ten...just short of my 11th birthday and my bro was about 10 months old...now the church we attended at the time had a morning service on Thanksgiving...mom was busy, at the same time trying to prep the turkey and get my brother ready for church... our kitchen had a double sink....the turkey thawing in one and my bother getting his morning bathe in the other....
two things:
1] i wished that i had a camera
2] i've given my bro flak about it for years...
[ to put a date on it, it was 1958]

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

i  just saw a TV ad, one of the funniest ads i've ever seen, also very true to life.....they showed a video with cats all dressed up in holiday garb...if fact one as a turkey...and the cats were not happy....i had cats for years and i can tell when they want to kill, at the end a text come up  "Help them forgive and forget"....and then you see the kicker...a well know brand of cat treats....what a gas....

i'm not sure whether i'm losing my mind [but there again there are peeps who would say i  never found it to begin with, or worse i never had a mind to find anyway] or am i just forgetful, they do say that with age your memory is the second thing that you lose[and i can't remember what the first thing was.] or am i just a creature of habit. who didn't grow up with computers...i never wear a watch...i'll be sitting here typing away madly...and look at my alarm clock for the time, some times the alarm clock is buried...and forget there's a time display on the task bar of my laptop..........oy vey........
so we finally got the first snow of the winter, well technically it's still autumn but  the lines get blurred in the North Country....it's still snowing but probably will not amount to more then maybe 3"...but with the temp in the 40s'F tomorrow and the 2 days after that in the 50s'F....won't stay around too long...

Monday, November 23, 2015

from the time i was knee high to a grasshopper, i was told by teachers, friends of my parents, and most of my friends, that i was nuttier than a fruit cake....now to be honest i always took it as a compliment but i could  tell by their tone of voice and their body language that's not exactly what they had in mind.
but here's my present problem...as i sit here written with a cold drink and munching on fruit cake, does that constitute cannibalism?
{ the mad one starts to run away, stops grabs the cold drink and the fruit cake, and walks away laughing, and happily munching fruit cake...can't help my self i like fruit cake}

Sunday, November 22, 2015

i have a conundrum, on one hand i'd like to have more hits on my blogs, on the other hand i really do this for me...it's cathartic {(Gesundheit!)...........(hehe)}
(the mad one wonders off be for the German language police show up...but keeps watch for a black and white Porsche)

Saturday, November 21, 2015

on one of the G+ communities i mostly lurk, but reply from time to time a peep posted a video clip which claimed to prove God without referring to the scriptures. basically the short version...someone made a cellphone, a plant is more complex then a cellphone therefore someone made the plant. it's an old argument from the 16th and 17th centuries..know as Deism, but that only gets you so far, in fact the Deists argued that God created the universe and walked away...and i'm sure the the ancient alien theorists would contend it was an alien presence in concert  with evolution, not God...the argument only gets you so far...peeps who believe in Theism not only believe in the creator God or gods, and that they are involved to a less or greater degree in universe and the people of the universe....
Christianity is monotheistic...one God who is both the creator and concerned about his people, but  you can only get to belief thru faith...not logic, not science, not empirical reasoning.
lovely from tomorrow morning thru monday morning we are under a lake effect snow warning...plus a high wind advisory.....why didn't  i fly south with the ducks and cranes

Friday, November 20, 2015

when the Bill of Rights was written over 200 years ago, and religious freedom was included, it was was intended to guard against the state church concept that most countries in europe had. that we know, but what we forget is that when they said religion, what they were thinking of was the christian religion, and although there were certainly separatist, there were few if any militant sects. now certainly most religions have a evangelistic approach, both the christian and islam faiths share this element. however how do we separate the faith from the aggressive militant sects...the extreme fundamentalist whether christian or muslim. without interfering with the faith of the rest of adherents, others who are not militant...without demonizing those who don't believe as the militants do.
Not an easy task,
but inflammatory rhetoric by those with a public voice, not only does no good, but does great harm...The threat is real...and all i hear from our leaders is rhetoric..political statements...not solutions...be there any....
it's time that those with a public voice, quit playing politics, put their heads together..and come up with  positive solutions.

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

have you ever noticed that if you see a Duluth Trading Co. ad on TV. that if they are advertising the men's clothing line all you every see is cartoons,, but if the it's the lady's line although they sometimes use cartoons, there are also always pics of real red blooded babes
( the mad one is confused (and if you believe that....))

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

don't get it twisted, the world must deal with the threat of ISIS...but if we think it is possible to destroy it , that's arrogant, we can with great difficulty defeat the adherents, but the ideology will remain
the allies defeated the 3rd Reich, but  Nazism still remains.
Osama Bin Laden is dead, but Al-Qaeda and the ideology still remains.
and the same with the Taliban they've been damaged but they and the ideology still remain
we must try stop ISIS for now with great difficulty, at great expense, and loss of life maybe, but the ideology will remain and could  resurface,
maybe we can control it, but it would be arrogant to think you can destroy the ideology.....history says differently.......
[the mad wanders off, being serious makes his head hurt]

Monday, November 16, 2015

didn't post yesterday, and i could claim a number of meaningless excuses, but the truth is my mind was in a fog yesterday, not the first time but definitely won't be the last...nothing to do but just veg out on those days

Saturday, November 14, 2015

this is getting to be a real bore, Windows updates, again,...this time about 2&1/2 hours, at least this time for the first 2 hours or so i could still use the computer....but  i'm sure after the last updates the message said the next updates would be in 28 days...and that was less then 2 weeks ago.......
( the mad one's head hurts...he was never good at the "new math")
( update:actually it was 11 days)
i probably watch to much TV. but here's a question based on observation:
which ads show the most:
1) the one where drug companies push their new wonder drugs...
or
2) where law firms push you to sue the a fore mention drug companies over their old wonder drugs
(the mad one shakes his head.........and wanders off confused)
i've been up for 5 hours, took first walk in the realm for 3 days, cold but not raining was told it did snow last night but light and no after effects ( aka it didn't stick) stopped a few places, the cupboard was getting a little bare...that took about an hour...just looked at the clock and realized:
a) i haven't turned the boob box on yet (aka TV)
b) the drink i made when i got back all the ice is melted
c) all i've done is mess around on the net
posted to two of my blogs, messed with the layouts and templates on two, did some surfing for links and images...posted to G+...left some communities...joined others...
d) and forgot to eat
( the mad one be jamming)
i have come to the conclusion that i can't leave well enough alone, i play with words, play with my food, play dumb (hehe) and most definitely play with my blogs...have spent a large chunk of the morning added new posts, changing the background, adding gadgets, and rearranging the furniture..
blog in question ( well all my blogs are questionable but ...) "Trollie Hangs Ten" (link)

Friday, November 13, 2015

i don't spend an inordinate amount of time on G+ but i have a few ideas how to improve it....one of your options is a button to add a " +1" to a post or comment with which you agree etc, i wish they also had a button to add a (-1) when it was inappropriate, rude, or just plain nonsense. except some peeps would see a whole bunch of minuses as a badge of honor. actually so would i depending on what community i posted to...it would not be the first time i "stirred the pot"

the forecast has changed again, they know predict more snow then they originally did, however with:
a) the ground isn't frozen yet
b) it is predicted to be in the 60'sF early next week
c) the chances of it sticking are slim to  none

Thursday, November 12, 2015

( i realize that i just posted..but since this has nothing to do with the other..second post)
okay shoot me ( not literally). but i like watching the show "Pawn Stars"...although i sometimes refer to it as Pawn Whores...(oops)...but i get a charge out of peeps who think:
1)  that they can get retail price
2) that thing that the price peeps on E-Bay are asking is what it's worth
3) that just because their great, great, grandmother's 100 years old bra is worth 1000's when  it's not worth spit (okay so i exaggerate a bit)
4)or just because they say it's real doesn't make it so
5)or think they know more then the experts the guys call in
with the fact that it rained most of the day, and i didn't get out yesterday, and tomorrow's forecast is for rain most of the day and possible snow friday evening... i ordered delivery chinese food, but the weird thing is i call, said i "i would like to arrange for delivery" and the girl who answered said, my address...oy vey....now i will admit to ordering from the same place over the last 5 or so years many times...but not for the last 4 months or so...so the question is do they have caller id, or do i have a very unique voice that can be very recognizable ...been told that for years, i have a slightly higher pitch voice then most males...i am after all a high tenor...but it's the reason i've never done any obscene phone calls (well not the only reason...but it sounded good)....
( oh if you really need to know: a small order of boneless spare ribs, a pint of egg drop soup, and mushroom egg foo young.)
(if your ever in Watertown NY...2000-Chinese Restaurant-)

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

i was clashing sabers (well not literally) on G+, and the stream of logical fallacies was boggling my mind...so i went a surfing, and found a list of logical fallacies...though i did study formal logic in college...it was a few years ago (okay okay on the order of 45+ years ago)....when i found the listing i remembered a few i had forgotten, and they were being used against the community the posts were on..I realized that it made no sense  however to call the poster(s) on the fallacies...
( bye the bye you will find a link to the list over yonder...(on  the right)
if i see, read, or smell one more time i may barf (not literally) the reference to the exodus in the old testament as the crossing of the Red Sea.in scripture the words are Yam Suph meaning the Reed Sea (or literally " sea of reeds" or " sea of seaweed")...the Hebrew for red sea is totally different.....now it's true that Yam Suph does no longer exist, well that's not quite true, it's a dry lake bed,  blame the Suez canal for that...
NY State in it's overreaching ways has determined that Draft Kings et al are illegal gambling ( don't believe it check here) but there again in NYS off track betting is legal (see here) if you check the link you'll see the part where NYS gets a cut of the revenue. now get me, i don't use any of the a fore mentioned sites...neither the fan sites or OTB for that matter. so as an independent observer...i propose the following question:
Is the state banning Draft Kings et al because of harmful effects on us, the "proud citizens of good old NYS" or because they aren't getting a cut of the revenue?
( the mad one wanders off...humming to himself....)

( sound of a foghorn..dang i thought i had fixed the rant alert)
when discussing historical events i really wish peeps would consider the historical and cultural context of the period..rather then apply modern views, concepts, or cultural to a period where our views etc. did not exist, there's an old saying which applies here "we weren't there" (well maybe not that old...but i'm old and have said it for years)

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

could be an "interesting" end of the week, tomorrow may have rain early but starting Thursday (named for the Norse god Thor) for three days at this point the forecast is that it will rain 72 straight hours..(does anyone know how to build an ark, or a rowboat or have a Mae West life vest, i'd ask for Mae West but she's been gone for almost 35 years) but then the forecast has been wrong before.

was reviewing my stats and noticed that my hit counter was at :13666. the mad one shakes in fear, Triskaidekaphobia together with the number of the antichrist.. run and hide ...run and hide...(hehe)....
when i played soccer in college for a couple of years wore the #13....asked for it...and as to 666...some of the greek manuscripts show the number as 616...
(truth is i'v always wanted to have an excuse to use triskaidekaphobia  is a post...but that's the trollie in me)
was wandering around the net looking for the origins for the names we use for days, 3 are based on roman myths, and the other 4 on norse myths...but in the process found a good site for researching mythology..have added a link on the right.
anyone who has read this blog at all, knows that:
a) i love to play with words
b) i like puns
c) and really love bad puns
therefore enjoy (or not) the following fishermen/fish jokes
1) did you hear about the two fisherman who fished only for the "halibut"
2) or the two fishermen from Finland, so any who two fish were watching them said one " don't let that fin-land-ya"(my since apologies to Jean Sibelius)
3) (lastly) did you hear about the two salmon who were swimming up stream to spawn, said one salmon to the other "dam"

i was watching a World War II movie an older one, called "36 Hours", but i missed a huge chunk of it because my sister called, calling to confirm my attendance at her annual Thanksgiving meal..but as it happens when we talk a 2 minute conversation can turn into a half an hour. but i watched the end and realized that TCM was showing one of my fav quirky movies tonight, "The Last of Sheila", has a great cast, from 1973.....it just started and i will be watching for the next couple of hours.
one of the cable channels (sorry i get satellite TV)...is running a bunch of the newer Bond films...some are with Pierce Brosnan as Bond...and although the 4 films with him as Bond are some of my favs...........he isn't my fav Bond....give me Sean Connery as Bond any day.
since i no longer drive, and i walk, so before i do i check the weather to check for walking conditions, now i found a bridge in the middle of retailers, and also my vet (okay my doctor)...so this morning i sallied forth on a great adventure (okay, okay, so i went out to pick up a few things).....i had to  dodge dragons (okay, okay, but have you seen those big SUV's)...because of weather there are days when walking is a problem, as was yesterday, some chew here, a jar of garlic pepper sauce there, here boiled eggs, there vegetable juice, garlic/pepper spice, steak sauce, and some apple hand pies.......every where something else......old McTrollie had a bridge ei ei oh...(hehe).
(call it paranoia but i hate to run out of things i use a lot.....was low on some of the items i bought today...but in 4 different stores...but thought i'd have fun describing the trip)
(besides i've been waiting along time to parody Old McDonald's Farm...)

as i write it's 49 days give or take until Christmas,  and yet many of the stories are bring out their Christmas stuff, and ads are already fill the airwaves, or is it cable waves, or satellite waves, on TV...
when i was a kid, you rarely saw any ads or Christmas displays until  the day after Thanksgiving...my question for today is...why in the retail market has Thanksgiving all but disappeared...?
so call me crazy (wouldn't be the first time) call me old fashion (well on that you'd be right) but it's because the only shops that make any money off Thanksgiving are food stores, and stores that sell wine and other spirits.......
Thanksgiving has always been a family day, a religious day...and apparently they can't sell that...make a profit there...more's the pity...
(sorry rant alarm still not operational)

just to explain my avatar...i was wandering around the net looking for some weird pics for one of my other blogs...and something in me on Google images typed in birds on skateboards...( okay by now you may have a hint of my strange mind) any who...i found this pic of a skateboarding budgie...and it reminded me an old feathered friend from years ago...the still missed Admiral Bird (okay it's a bad play on words, off of Admiral Byrd ) but then i love playing with words
why do i do it? why do i try to reason with peeps that are convinced that they have all the answers, and they are right?
maybe i know those peeps too well, i was one of them years ago...but i got better...i now realize that knowing the whole truth is not possible, but seeking the truth...that gives you purpose...
at one time i thought my best trait was arrogance, but with out going in to detail.....i finally came to the simple fact that i wasn't arrogant....i was just a dang fool..........
but if i learned one lesson in life is you can't help someone who doesn't think they need help...
so why do i try?

one of my avocations is military history, and particularly weapons, that's why if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll find a pic of a morning star mace...
(the mad one scratches his head, ah ha, that's the right tool to fix that dang rant alert)
on Google+ i will admit to lurking on communities that i might not agree with, but i don't go atrolling, i think you can't truly understand if you don't take an honest view of those with whom you disagree.how are you to learn  if you only listen to those who believe as you...
now don't get me wrong, i have no problem if a peep posts honest questions, but to go to a community that you don't agree with in an attack mode...that be trolling...and the MadTrollie knows trolling when he sees it
(apparently the RANT ALERT...is broken....the mad one wanders off looking for a hammer to fix it with)

there is an old saying "a watched pot never boils"...but i think it should be updated to "a watched windows update never loads"
and i've spent time trying to figure out what they changed and screwed up
i never thought i'd say this but there are times i wish i could go back to windows 95...

Monday, November 2, 2015

it's weird sometimes i forget what i ate for breakfast, and sometimes i remember things that happened 50+ years ago. two guys i'd know all my life up to that point, Kurt,Billy and i all hayed for Bobby D.
he raised Black Angus cattle...
as an aside: 12 hour days, at a dollar an hour, but 3 square meals...but understand in '65 the minimum non farm wage was only 1.50/hr...and gas was 19 cents a gallon...
any way i got there early and Bobby and i checked out the hayloft...we always loaded from right to left....(just like reading Hebrew) and the right was almost full...so normally we'd load the center next.
one major problem...one of the female barn cats had recently had a litter of kittens, and was nesting with them in the center section..
three problems:
a) mother cat with kittens
b) feral cat
c)who was the alpha female
so we decided to load the left side first
so we decided to finish the right side
eat supper, and then move the conveyor to the left.
well the right side was full and we still had a few bales left, so Kurt grabbed one and started for the center section. said i "if i where you i won't"...... that's as far as i got...Kurt was wearing about 7 pounds of feral mother barn cat on his chest all 20 claws sunk to the hilt.
(as an aside i was checking out the aerial view of the old stumping grounds...and discovered the fields we used to hay...are now a golf course...i guess you really can't go back)
i was talking to a friend about the World Series, while they aren't exactly a Mets fan, they do root for any New York State team,if their favs aren't playing. and i mentioned to describe the way the Royals play at the bat. "hit 'em where they ain't"
when i was younger i didn't play a lot of baseball, but a lot of slow pitch softball. i heard the above quote, and that was always the way i played, often called a spray hitter, or a place hitter..a lot easy in slow pitch.
but i either never knew the source of the quote or just forgot...the whole quote was:
"keep your eye clear, and hit'em where they ain't"
attributed to Wee Willie Keeler.

i've been thinking of words...now that's a shocker...and the different between the denotation and the connotation of a word(s)....
denotation is simple what the word(s) mean(s)  based on roots
connotation on the other hand is subjective...arbitrary...or it means what you think it means...based on how you understand the context in which the word is used...

i was thinking (okay so i avoid it because it hurts but....)about catch phrases that people i know or knew tend or tended to repeat...
1) "my mommy told me i'd have days like this ....(pause)...but not every day!!!!!!"
2) "if someone insists that they know the TRUTH...it's absolutely pointless to try to confuse them with facts"
(and my absolute one comes from the dad of friend of mine in high school)
3)"i don't mind if someone calls me a polack that's what i'm....(pause)  but if they call me a (blank) polack then i get mad" (this came complete with clenched fist)(for the (blank) fill in your favorite cuss word)

as to my love of etymology, i studied when in college Konie Greek, and Biblical Hebrew, from a brilliant teacher who was an expert in the field of etymology...and although i am not fit to carry his briefcase,i still love the field...
(konie or common tongue of the classical period...as vulgate was the common tongue of latin)
(dang, sorry about the misspell has been corrected)
(wanted etymology got entomology useful  word with greek origins hardly the same)
(the mad one hangs his head in shame)
it should be obvious from my last post that i love etymology...actually the  etymology of etymology is interesting but i'll  let you figure that one out for yourself
however i used the term medieval..in my last post:
from the latin
medium (middle)
aevum (age)
english: middle ages....as a child it was the first word i learned to use to describe periods of history in different places...the first being europe...but there is something dark, about the word medieval..that appeals to the troll in me
(oh as to the absence of the latin police, they are still trying to get the mace dents out of their Vespas..)
( warning: i have against my better judgement allowed the latin police to return but at my insistence i have required them to leave the Fiat 500 at home...so if you encounter a horde of them riding Vespas...sorry)
it is common  practice to use the terms BC and AD when referring to dates, (i prefer BCE and CE...but that's just me)
in talking to a friend she told me that she was taught that AD...meant after death...a reference to the death of Christ....sorry but not so (not the first time i've heard that and probably not the last)....it comes from the latin phrase "in anno domini nostri" in english
"in the year of our lord"...aka the year of his birth...
in  brief they got the wrong date ...........most probably between  5 and 3 BCE (or if you prefer BC)
( the mad one gets off his high horse, after chasing away the latin police with a mace (the medieval weapon, not the modern spray))

i was considering writing a post about All Hallows' Eve (aka Halloween) but after doing some basic research decided that:
a) i needed more research
b) this might not be the appropriate place because it would be way  too long for this format.
now i probably still will end up writing it, but need to find a better venue...but in a nutshell...i'm not a fan...of Halloween.

Friday, October 30, 2015

TnT is showing all 3 of the made for TV Librarian movies back to back tonight, all 3 are good but i prefer the last 2. interestingly enough both of the lead female actors  went on to star in long running TV series...from the 2nd movie Gabrielle Anwar...as Fiona in Burn Notice.....and from the 3rd movie Stana Katic....as Becket on Castle
starting last season they now are showing a TV series based on the Librarian movies, the season premier is this Sunday....whether i watch or not have not decided....i really like the 3 original movies,  but frankly i found the first season of the series...well....kinda lame.
now the fall colors had not been at their peak at the beginning  of the week and with the rain and high winds of the last few days, the leaves or at least the majority of them are now soaking wet and on the ground...i'm glad that dealing with them is not my  concern. but one of the things i love about fall are the colors of fall...(ho hum)...i guess i must wait until next year...
this weekend is the time to change the time on clocks (from daylight saving time (some countries  use the term summer time) and back to eastern standard time). one of silly terms to describe this bi-annual process is "spring forward and fall back). i would  tried this physically but at my age if i did i'd probably spring forward, get tipped by my cane and fall on my back..
(the mad one exits stage left, giggling)
i'm retired and probably watch more TV then i should (and probably is an understatement). but that being said i've see a lot of TV ads. i'm also someone who likes to play with my words. there was a trend years ago on TV to try to take the hype, and misleading claims out of TV ads, but in doing so the term they used, actually fits the classic  definition of oxymoron. and the catch phrase was:
"Truth in Advertising"...not only an oxymoron...but a very bad joke...

Thursday, October 29, 2015

i discovered something today i didn't know, now i never thought that the aerial view on a maps app  was current but the ones you get for where i live are at least 3 or 4 years old, there has been a fair amount of new construction since i moved to the west side of town almost 5 years ago, and a hotel, and 3 franchises which weren't there when i moved, but i did watch them when they were built, and they aren't in the aerial view...
the rain has stopped for awhile, sun is out, but still really windy,  took a chance and took a walk, needed a few things, as i  didn't get out yesterday...but there is still some more rain in the forecast...been watching regional radar....

Wednesday, October 28, 2015

despite the forecast it been relatively calm for the last 2 hours, the storm split in 2 parts, one part is far to the east, and one part is near to the west, looks like we may catch the edge of the one to  the west in a couple of hours
really a messed up weather day, a low front from the west, and another from the south, what's left of a hurricane that hit the south eastern US, have come together, not super heavy rain or wind as of yet, but it's been predicted the gusts may reach 65 mph...oy vey ...................

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

it's 26*F here as i write...or -3.333*C
the post below got me thinking about Canadian geese, and something that happened many years ago, there is a place in this area called the Perch River Preserve...my family was down there this time of year and were watching literally 1000's of water fowl grouping for the yearly flight south...in one area there where 100's of geese some on the water some on the land. on the land side ever 10 yards or so was a lookout, from time to time one of the other geese would relieve the lookouts, now i don't know if the cat that was thinking there was a goose dinner in it's future was feral or a pet..but it got jumped by several geese,... if the cat hadn't found refuge in a culvert under a gravel road, i'm sure it might have lost all nine lives...we then moved to another overlook...100's of a mixed bag of ducks, geese, coots, and swans...yes swans...my daughter was maybe 10 at the time...and she had the binoculars..said she " dad i see a big bird flying over the marsh..." i saw what she saw and knew exactly what it was..as she followed it the bald eagle flew right over her about 10 yards over her head, she almost fell over backwards trying to watch it's path...the eagle caught a thermal and rode that thermal and soared up until it was just a dot in the sky...
the moral of this story is don't mess with geese..or obviously the bald eagle...

Monday, October 26, 2015

there are two drainage ponds, built for the purpose of protecting the local business, a plaza, 2 hotels, and a bunch of franchise places,
however being on a very active water fowl flyway...the birds think the 2 ponds were  made for them, more likely they didn't care why, they just took them over, took a walk today, on the larger one there were enough canadian geese for several traditional christmas goose dinners.
now the small one is mostly ducks, coots, and the occasional heron, crane, or egret.

Saturday, October 24, 2015

there is a show that one of the history channels, or is it discovery channel, any who, searching for Hitler...now i admit that the proof the soviets offer is a bit thin but we're talking about a event (that is Hitler death) which happened 70 years ago...besides even if he did escape, and you did find his bones, how would you verify his identity... okay who ask he might be still alive..considering he was born in 1889...he'd be 126 now...you do the math...
but i can expect several episodes with them wandering around, i guess Argentina will be one of the stops...but a positive conclusion...maybe...or they might find Hoffa...or big foot

i took a walk today, needed (or was that wanted) a few items at the food market, but extended the walk to included Staples, and an Army-Navy store...(aka sporting goods store)
i've been thinking of adding a tablet or a digital camera, they (that is Staples only special order the cameras, or i probably would have bought one).now to the sporting good store, i've wanted a pair of binoculars for a while, so i bought a pair of  small binoculars, Bushnell a good brand. now the question which will never be answered, if Staples had a camera in stock?  i guess we'll never know, it's just that i hate buying things until i can see it, handle it. and yes i can be forgetful at times but did stop and pick a few items at the food market.
(NOTE:all three stores are in the same plaza)
also when i was there i noticed the Vietnamese restaurant has re-opened, i love pho ....but really didn't have the time...but will put it back on my list of places to eat
got back to my rooms and caught the end of one of the semi-finals for the World Cup of Rugby...New Zealand beat South Africa by 2 points.
(the mad one is listening to Classic FM, will put the link on right)

Friday, October 23, 2015

okay what should i do....look like an idiot when i say look to the right for the link, when the column is now on the left, or 2436 posts and edit right to left...-now i maybe an idiot, but i'm not going to edit  2436 possible posts ...or i could change the template....which i did, so links are back on  the right
it's a year+ until the election of the next US president ....there are more potential candidates the you could shake a cane at ( and yes i have to use one...not a candidate but a cane)
but frankly at this point, i really have very little interest yet, i'll wait until the field thins out, then maybe i'll have more to say...
walked over to the local food market, and right inside the door there was a bin of imported cheeses, one i had never seen or heard of before Pecorino Pepato, a sheep's milk cheese with pepper corns...
(the mad one grins as he enjoys this wonder cheese...he muses...would go well with billy goat, but does go with a nice glass of bourbon)

Thursday, October 22, 2015

BEWARE:
any of the links on the older posts (that is those between 2002 and 2010) are probably deader then a door nail
since i just changed the the layout of the blog, so in some of the posts it will mention a link on the right, well now you need to use your other right (aka look left)  otherwise i'd have to go thru 2431 posts, and edit where needed...don't hold your breath....
(the mad one walks away...shaking his head)
i love to check the stats on my 3 active blogs, in particular the country(s) of origin (i always misspell origin, or do i, because with out thinking i spell it Origen).....on one of my other blogs i got a hit from Ireland, and a couple from Indonesia, over the last week the leader of hits is not the US of A, but is Russia, welcome, i'll pour the vodka....
been messing with the template today, have always preferred the column on the left and posts on the right...

one of the neat features on  Google (i guess the hip term is app) is a translation function, enter any English word and choose a language and it gives you the equivalent in another language of your choice
it's going to do wonders for my cussing.

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

have unearthed a long dead blog...not much new there yet...link on right...Trollie hangs ten

Monday, October 19, 2015

(rant alert activated)
today was warmer then yesterday, but warmer is a relative term particularly at this time of year. on my walk to the local market  i need to cross one of the more busy streets in town (and yes i did wait for the walk cycle...which doesn't mean i don't J walk from time to time). as i was crossing a car was stopped at the light. windows up, now this guy must have more stereo ( sorry for the archaic term) equipment jammed in that car then I've owned my entire life. now i am partial deaf...and 15 feet away and the sound was deafening, i feel sorry for those with perfect hearing.
now don't get me wrong, you and/or he can listen to any music you and/or he wants to. but why play it so loud that i have to listen to it as well.
also every time this happens it's either rap or death metal, neither which i consider music.
(rant over)
there is always a question when blogging, do you write for hits, or write what you want and hits be damned. years ago all you had to do was posted about a girl who was named after a hotel in France, and you would have been buried in hits...on the other had i have a picture of a clown car...hits are great but being myself priceless ....

Sunday, October 18, 2015

according to one of the weather sites i use, it was 27*F last night, and today i saw a few flacks of snow, have seen  snow earlier in years past but winter is coming.
there are two old gags in the NorthCountry...name given by locals for 3 counties in upstate NY
1) we only have two seasons:
   a) winter
   b) construction
2) we have 3 seasons
   a) just was winter
   b) soon will be winter
   c) winter
(note: i usually use an english system of measurement, but i realize many are raised in the metric system therefore i have add a metric conversion site in "other links", look to the right )

did you ever notice that no matter how many channels you get on your idiot box (aka TV)
there is either nothing to watch or 2+ shows you want to watch.
that would be tonight:
1) Draft Day...now i'm not a big fan of Kevin Costner, but Jennifer Garner..huba...huba...but i do like the flick...not realistic but most movies are not. even when they try to be.
2) The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...the last film before his retirement of Sean Connery (Bond..James Bond) enough said...and Peta Wilson...(of La Femme Nikita fame the TV show) obviously this flick doesn't even try to be realistic.
(the mad one sits back and watches Peta)
(okay...okay...i may channel surf a little...i mean there is Jennifer)
which reminds me when i was 19 or 20 and worked in a hobby shop...on the main drag...downtown...big front window...and the owner who was in his mid 50's...sat in a rocking chair...watching the girls walk by...
we told him:
a) if your wife ever sees you watching...
b) and besides your way too old...
his response was always the same..."the day i stop looking is the day they nail the lid over my head.
married friends of mine  had a party for the lady's 40th birthday...
said he," i'm going to trade you in for 2- 20's"
and with out skipping a beat
she quipped "you aren't wired for 2-20 at your age"
(the two stories above are actually true)
(the mad one wanders off)
(and yes i'm almost 68...and i still look...and i run from anyone with a hammer and nails)

Saturday, October 17, 2015

thinking of the Blizzard of 77, i remembered an "odd" fact...it was in February and in November....that's 10 months later, the number of births at the local hospitals were twice the normal average of a normal November...
(the mad one scratches his head, plays with his beard, and runs away giggling )
i didn't take the picture now in the header, but was taken in 1977 where i lived then, and still live now.
(have added a link on the right if you want to see more pics of the blizzard of 77)
truth be told my first car was a 1965 VW  rag top...i figure my last car should look a lot like the one at the top of the right column
i've been spending sometime today updating one of my other blogs (see link on right "troll's poetry corner".
i've been debating what "gadgets" to use, now here i have a translation gadget, but have decided not to add one there...my poetry is weird enough in english, but the limericks...oy vey.....
(see link to yiddish dictionary on right)

Friday, October 16, 2015

if you checked the weather forecast at the beginning of the week, Thursday evening (that would be today), was to rain a lot thru Sunday afternoon. even the possibility of some winter mix. which is PC speak for sleet, snow, and slush mixed with rain.
well now they've  modified it to a much lower chance of rain, maybe only a little snow.
which reminds me of a saying a farmer told me years ago.
that weather forecasting was the only occupation that got  paid for being right only 25% of the time.
don't get me wrong, this time i'm glad they were wrong...but on the other hand i know the bad weather is coming.
(the mad one looks behind him, and shakes his head, he could have sworn someone was watching him...hehe).
(the mad one wanders off)

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

most times odd facts, words, and/or theories float freely in my mind, just unconnected items in the ooze. but from time to time they collide in unpredictable ways...today...catalytic converters, and methane gas...bumped into each other producing the following:
(note: the mad one has just placed his tongue firmly in his cheek)
what if:
someone  created a catalytic converter which was able to reduce methane gas to a safe neutral substance.
and then equipped all members of the animal kingdom with the said device.
and why stop there, equip every man, woman, and child with said device.
it could have positive benefits to the air quality, global warming,to say nothing about the benefits to our collective noses.
(note: the mad one has remove said tongue from said cheek.)
(the mad one wanders off giggling, i manage that whole thing without using the word "fart")
(the mad one dives under his bridge)

I've always wondered why most cartoon characters have only a thumb and 3 fingers.
2 possible answers (link below).
why 3 fingers?

Sunday, October 11, 2015

I've had several vocations in my life, but I have always been drawn to, and my opinions have been shaped more by my avocations.few have I ever earned a dime from. but it's where I escape.
my last post reminded me of a dark day for many of my friends (the editor mentioned below)
Draft_lottery_(1969)
though i had a high number (312), if i remember correctly, and i had a deferment
my editor did not, very low draft number, low grades, and lost his deferment
if memory serves, he dropped out of school and enlisted in the Air Force
i never saw him again....
Selective_Service_System
read the section on 1969
i had a 2D deferment

Saturday, October 10, 2015

i was surfing TV tonight, and watched a bit of the Mets/Dodgers...now you must know my whole family are crazy Mets fans...my opinion of the Mets ...don't go there...
but it reminded me of a fun story.
when the Mets won the 69 series.
at the time i worked for my college newspaper
we received two copies of the same photo which were posted in both the New York Times, and the New York Daily News....
in the Times the fan in the picture with her skirt up, you couldn't see her panties
in the Daily News you could
my editor and i had a debate
did the Times airbrush the panties out,
or did the Daily News airbrush them in.
a debate we could never agree on.

Hawaii 50
the original ran from 1968 to 1980
typical cop drama of that period, but with occasional cold war overtones.
the new one (2010- present) tries to get a little of the cold war vibe ( a new Wo Fat, played by the chairman from iron chef america)(as opposed to the original played by Khigh_Dhiegh) no contest.
the only thing i like about the new version is the new "Kono" played by Grace_Park,
okay so i'm sexist, i'm a troll, live with it
the Dano in the first show was the adopted son of Helen Hayes...the new Dano is the son of James Caan...make of it what you will

Friday, October 9, 2015

it has been a weird couple of days...i was watching the weather forecast and it was predicted to rain all day today.
now i don't drive anymore ( neither cars or  golf balls), but for this discussion we will only touch on cars.
with my vision, and night vision, i am unsafe at any speed.(a tip of the hat to Ralph Nader ) if you're too young to get the reference, tough.
i choose to live in an area where virtually every thing i need is less then  a 15 minute walk away.
but it has been cool, damp, and wet. not the best for my rumatiz.( i have  to talk to spell check, or the oxford dictionary to accept the word "rumatiz"( i guess i could say arthritis, but i like rumatiz)).
so i went to the local food store last night at 11PM. (dang spell check red lined me again so i'll...try again ).
2300 hours eastern daylight time.
the store is open, 24/7... except for 24 hours that constitutes december 24th..
i have much to say about the ongoing race for president, but i'm too tired to be PC. and i hate the black helicopters.

I guess we don't have a constitution any more
check this link
I've been surfing on YouTube tonight, (okay as much as I hate the shift key, I hate the red line under what I type worse)
as long as I bring up my gmail ( i'm  not typing Gmail or for that matter I'm) but I regress.
(the mad one is confused, where was I, what was I doing, and why?)
any who.
my usual tour thru the classics, but tonight they included:
jan and dean
and joan jett
(dang more red lines)
but on a more serious note, H Clinton unveiled her gun control policy today. I won't go into the details...but she said if congress didn't go along...she would implement the policy by executive order.
the mad one has but one question.
do we still have a constitution ?
do you actually think H that an amendment would pass muster?
don't get me wrong, I hate the plague of gun violence, but controlling legal ownership, is not the answer.
why doesn't she address the violence in the inter-cities where the guns are illegal under current law?

( I have a problem being serious more that 45 seconds at one time)

the latin police are not happy. I added a translation feature to my blog. and latin is not  one of the language options.

(rant alert).....why does spell check know "et all"... (Latin police approve )... but doesn't know youtube.....ok I could type YouTube....but I hate the shift key....by the by....spell check does not know latin without a cap ( Latin police are not pleased ).
I hate the transition between seasons, my joints et al remind me of the crazy way I played sports when I was younger. the young man who had this body acted like it was impervious to damage, and pain was an indicator that I was improving, or just part of the sport.
the older man who now inhabits this shell, knows the younger guy was a complete idiot.

the best crossover shows you probably will never see. different networks.
Law and Order SVU vs. Castle...both shows are set in NY.
but the one I'd pay to see is:
NCIS vs. Bones, both set in DC...
Bones and the squints meet Abby and Duckie.
Booth meets Gibbs.
sniper vs. sniper
who takes the shot ?
( obviously the musings of a very strange mind)

when I was a kid, the elderly ladies at church always asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. my response was always "extremely happy". well that didn't end up very well.
so I have to consider what I want to be when I grow up.
two problems:
1- I'm almost 68.
2- I've not grown up yet.
(hehe)
( the mad one walks off to his bridge, giggling.)

I love youtube (yes it still pissed me off that spell check gives me the red underline), but I can find  Jan and Dean and "Dead man's curve".
I love all music...
that which I don't consider music.
1-early country music.
2-death metal, and all the offshoots there of.
3 rap.
okay, understood, I'm a grumpy old man.
deal with it.
or not.
if you can't.
it's not like I care, or lose any sleep over it.
(the mad one wanders off, finds an inviting bridge and sleeps).
this is my 2401st post on this blog,

I've been surfing on youtube tonight, not the first time, not even the 50th time...but...I love the music of the classical period, the baroque period in particular and the choral music of the period.
I have sung those works for many years.
until age has limited my vocal skills.
truth be told age, well it works against high tenors.
breath control gone, power gone, somewhere between 55 and 60, and the use before date on my singing voice has passed several years ago.
I can still enjoy the music, I can still read and hear my part, just can't sing it any more.
(rant to follow) why can't spell check recognize "youtube'

Fall really fell this weekend, rained most of the day the 19th, had been mid 70's last week to low 80's, and now high 50' to mid 60's and into 50's and even 40's at night.

i believe in intelligent design, as well as appearance of age, not the intent to deceive, but rather that it came into being in a mature state. on the other hand i do not dismiss evolution in its entirely, to do so would ignore the changes in genus or families of being, if i may i accept "micro-evolution". as to the age of the universe, i have no intelligent guess.

those who find the scams run by many of the TV preachers, actually blame those who are conned, okay it's hard not to. however when they paint all religious belief on that basis, oh please, it's what debate would call creating a "straw man",
or assume that all Christians accept the theory that the universe came into being on 4004 bce, on October 22, just before 6pm, that was the theory of one man around 1650ce,don't believe it see link below.

when did the word "ask", start to be pronounced "ax", and "asked" pronounced "axed". i don't know about you but where i grew up if you said you "axed" someone the cops and the person's kin would be out looking  for you, the cops with handcuffs and the kin with shotguns. maybe it has something to do with Lizzie Borden...

when i started this blog many years ago, i decided to make a play on words from an old TV comedy "car 54 where are you ", 54 being my age at the time. i am thinking about on 12/??/15 changing the name of the blog to ....troll68 why are you still here?
maybe i'm getting too old, but I've seen peeps post to a public forum, from a certain ideological position, and then complain that if you don't agree, you shouldn't post a reply...then post it to a private forum ....or are they just trolling...and as a card carrying troll i known trolling when i see it.

(Latin police have just arrived, in their Fiat 500) if you are using the word agenda in a theological or religious sense the correct word, or rather the more correct word is credenda... okay so the word is at best archaic but then so am i....

Saturday, August 15, 2015

( rant alert activating ) while surfing i saw a post that used the term agendas, (warning Latin police...run) agenda is already plural, (singular is agendum ) lets get the S out of here....(hehe)
