My dad was fond of saying.."if yo don't have it in your head..you have to have it in your feet..I decided  to take a short walk this AM..Big Lots..Aldi..& the bank..needed to get my "ten-day walking around money" & turn-in three rolls of coins..every thing was laid out for my walk..got about 1/2 way to Big Lots & yup..realized the three rolls of coins had not made the trip..oy vey..

 it's been quite a spell since I've posted here or in either of my other two blogs..it's not exactly that i didn't have anything to say...but rather just didn't feel like saying them..I guess I've gotten lazy in my old age..and besides not a lot has changed and  what  has changed is of little or no significance..still residing in the hotel I have lived in since 12/4/2010..since I no longer drive..eyesight & essential tremor I find that by living in  the commercial district I've within easy walking distance of all my needs..including my doc who has offices in the district..other duties to attend to..will post this now but my post later a well

 Today is Memorial Day here in the USA (WIKI} from 1961 to 1965 as part of my high school band I  participated in parades & graveside services honoring those who had past in military service..started after the American Civil War..but after WWI all military personal who have died during service to our nation are honored....but except for a brief walk to Ollie's & Dollar General this morning have spent the day as I usual do..quietly in my rooms....for most of my childhood & teenage years Memorial Day was not as it is now celebrated as a "Monday Holiday" but was observed on May 31st..as well was the parades it was the day that our family tradition planted our vegetable garden..outside Buffalo NY where we lived at the time the possibility of a frost had past..ours' was about 1/3 of an acre & not only were the veggies eaten fresh at table but my mom canned or froze some for winter use..among my many chores was the tending of a dozen chickens that we kept for the eggs & when they time came..mom my some very tasty chicken soap..& a new dozen pullets (link) & the cycle began again..actually not a bad job except for once a week removing the old straw from the floor & replacing it with fresh..& the transporting of the used straw which was  full of "gifts" that the hens had deposited on the straw to the compost pile (link) not an enjoyable process on a hot..humid..summer day....in my later teenage years I helped a couple of local farmers baling both hay & straw..& although I have spent the majority of my adult years living & working in a small city & appreciate the conveniences afforded I must admit that there are times I miss my rural upbringing..that being said..at this point in my life..I'll take the conveniences..I'm way too old to muck-out a chicken coop..still a few things too attend to before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....{15;11-5/31/22}..../....  

I got a email this morning..apparently from a reader inquiring about my silence here for the last several months..truth be told the format was changed to accommodate the "mobile blogger" & I got frustrated by the appearance of it..the Olde MadTrollie doesn't have a "cellphone"..I have Essential Tremor" (aka: old age shakes) & have great difficulties using a touch screen..but lately the lack of a smart phone has jumped up & bite me again..with the FB new policy that I need a second confirmation that I'm Me..I can't gain access to my FB account.anyways..the only thing I really miss atall is messenger & even that I only rarely used..//.since my last post nothing of great significance has occurred save for a good six-month checkup with the doc..as for the rest I have continued the quite peaceful life of a 74 year old man..which is the life I have chosen & a life which I prefer..besides if I live on an "even keel" & avoid stress &/or excitement I avoid or at least lessen the tremors..my intent at this point is to only post here when I have something meaningful to say..well at least from my POV...ergo.."nite all"..../....

...Been 5 days since my last posting on Wednesday last..a very winding nasty day Thursday & with my balance issues due to my essential tremor condition I don't venture out with winds 25 mph+..just spent a quiet day in my rooms..I had planned to take the short walk to Aldi on Friday..had forgotten to get a couple of things on my last trip there & stop at the bank on the way back to pickup my "10 day walking around money"..got up at the usual time on Friday around 04:00..took care of my early morning offline rituals & logged on to the net..there was an alert that I have an update pending..got online & shutdown for the update..when i turned the computer back on..just a blank screen..discovered if I clicked on the magnifying glass I did get a screen but could get no further..dang..Staples doesn't open to 09:00..spent until just before 09:00 watching what little was on at that hour..reruns of "Charmed" & just before 09:00 put the laptop in my sling bag & off to Staples (in the same plaza as Price Chopper & T J Maxx).. well Wilbur..a very skilled tech did the voodoo that he do & had me up & running in just under a half an hour..back to my rooms.. that certainly put the kibosh on my usual daily schedule..decided to just drop the laptop off in my rooms & headed for Aldi got just a few things plus the items I had forgotten the tother day & a quick stop at the bank..my /usual early morning session of poker on "Replay Poker\" turned into a late morning session & the rest of the day was catch as catch can..a little shopping on Saturday & on Sunday we got the first semi-significant snow of the year..not much...maybe 3 or 4 " but it's the first snowfall of the year that didn't melt on contact with the ground..so stayed warm & snug in my rooms..a decent nights sleep last night & just after 09:00 another walk to Aldi..the sidewalks were a little dicey..some ice & hard pack in spots but with my Duluth Trading Wild Boer Moccasins on my feet I made the trip with out incident (I can't wear high-cut shoes or boots..an old Achilles tendon injury in a soccer game 54 years ago this past October) anyways..have spent the rest of the day in my rooms & online..just my usual online gaming routine..been a good day..just a few more details to iron-out before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....[16:13 UTC-5]..../....

    It's been 8 days since I posted last..bad Trollie..no biscuit..most days have been just my usual days of a little shopping here & there but mostly just staying my rooms & attending to my duties as a mod on the FB group "The Farthest Side" & as an admin on "May the Far Side be with you"..& of course spending time on the sim..solitaire & the live free poker game I play online..you can find a link to "Trollie's Game Room" in the sidebar if you're interested..../....Saturday the 11th was a very weird day's weather for the Northcountry of NYS for December..we had winds out of the south with winds in excess of 25 mph..52*F & rain..this time of year thew typical temperature is usually well below 32*F & snow..which we haven't gotten very much of as of yet..../...Sunday the 12th my bro & sis-in-law picket me up just before noon & we had lunch at the local "Red Lobster"..had something to due with what happened on 12-12-47 ..the gimpy..grumpy old Trollie turned 74 years old..& there are days' that I feel like I was born 12-12-1847 ...../....Awoke this morning just before 03:00 after a fitful nights sleep..had a couple of very strange dreams..really don't recall any specifics just that they were  bizarre..decided that it would prove nothing to try to catch another 40 winks..so got up & started my day early..just before 09:00 took off on an extended shopping trip..first stop was at Aldi..just some bananas..fruited flavored sparkling water..a 1/2 lb of Irish butter & a wedge of Edam cheese..then off to T J Maxx & another bottle of spicy mayo..Buffalo Ranch..then across to "Speedway" convenience store for some chew..they have started stocking my fav brand so bought a tube of five..& then a quick stop at Dollar General for a package of cookies & 4 apple pies..& back to my rooms..but a longer walk than/usual & my back was quite sore when I got back..I have had Scoliosis since I was 11 or 12 & it usually doesn't bother me atall..but today..anyways a liberal application of a topical analgesic & all is now well..../....just a couple more games to be played..a shower & meds to be taken & of course a couple more look-ins on my FB groups & my evening meal to prepared & consumed..ergo.."nite all"....[17:02 UTC-5]..../....

...Last posted on Saturday & just kicked back & save for a quick run to Dollar general for a few things spent the day in my rooms ..the weather yesterday was nasty..predicted winds from 25 to 35 mph & gusts up to 65 mph just to the south & east of us..days like that I'm quite content to stay warm & snug in the cement block building I live in..the forecast also called for a weather storm watch from 20:00 to 16:00 today..well Wilbur..somebody forgot to tell Mother Nature because except for a dusting of snow were got nothing..ergo..had received a bill from my last appointment with the doc so just before 09:00 got dressed for the 28*F tem-perature..just four light layers do the trick for that & headed off to  my bill..his office is about a 10 minute walk from my abode..got that taken care of..a quick stop at Big Lots..they usually carry bulk black pepper corns..I said usually but not today..then to Aldi (dang..another word  the spell-check in my new laptop don 't know)..got most of what I sought but were out of pocket pies (as it happened so was Dollar General when I was there Sunday..I think it's some kind of a conspiracy (hehe))..& fruit flavored sparkling water..but did get the rest of the items on my list..which I actually remembered to take with me for a change..(shakes his old grey head)..then on the way back to my digs a quick stop at the bank for my "10 day walking around money"...../....according to the weather forecast we are supposed to get some light snow starting  about now & intermittently thru tomorrow evening but only 1 to 3" are expected..haven't seen any evidence of it as of yet (a quick look out the back door)..but as my old friend Norm used to say "The weathermen were the only people he knew that got paid for being right 25% of the time" & I always told him he was a optimist..he's not with us now..rest easy my old friend..../....weather looks good for Thursday & Friday & then rain & mid-50's on Saturday..weird weather for a December in the Northcountry of NYS..so will probably wait until Thursday/Friday for my next adventure in shopping..anyways..my days deeds are down..ergo.."nite all"....[19:19 UTC-5}..../....

...I been a very bad Trollie..again..been 6 days since I've posted here..no biscuit..today at 10:00 I'll will have been a resident here for 11 years..I live in a hotel (on my own dime} over the last 11 years it's changed names about a 1/2-dozen time & management once..but it's location hasn't..I like to say that there are three reasons why I live here..location..location..location..I live on the edge of the commercial district of the small city I live in & within walking distance of everything I need & that includes my  doctor's office (about 10 minutes away} & there's an "urgent care" practically right across the street..I'll be 74 in 8 days..I don't drive any longer.. my night vision was always sub-standard & has gotten worse with age & because of my essential tremor condition [link]..com-monly referred to here abouts as the "old age shakes" & in a high stress situation I could "pop a tremor" & lose control of a car if I was driving & I refuse to put myself or anyone else in that "jackpot"..ergo..I don't drive..now truth be told I live in an area where in winter extreme cold & Lake Effect Snow is possible..so there are days were walking would not be possible..in that case there are always cabs if absolutely necessary but both grocery stores in the area do deliver & in the wake of CV-19 so do many of the other stores in the area & also many Chinese restaurants..sub-shops & pizza parlors that would be more that happy to deliver & I have a debit card setup for such situations..also for internet use & did I mention my winter pantry & the best reason is that I actually save money & can live well within my means..obviously wouldn't work for everybody but it does work out quite well for this gimpy ..grumpy..old codger..../....*[18:04 UTC-5]*..I've just finished watching "Fantastic 4" on SyFy..been a quiet day save for a the short walk to Price Chopper & T J Maxx..just picked up a few things for my winter pantry..have nothing on the docket for tomorrow save for my /usual online activities..maybe some TV if I can find something worth watching,,weather for tomorrow looks fairly nice..a mid 30s F day..which is relatively speaking a nice "warm" day for this area this time of year so maybe a walk for the sake of walking  is possible..just a few more details to iron out before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....,/,,,,,

...It has been an interesting 8 days since I posted last..a week ago tomorrow I had just finished my morning postings to "Trollie's Game Room" & finished a draft for the next  posting there & as I was getting ready to start my Sim&Solitaire play for the day my 5 year old+ Chrome Base died..may it rest in pieces..spent the better part of three hours with a helpful tech at the local Staples getting my new lap-top setup..did lose my files..& some of my long inns..had to start from scratch again on a couple of my game sites but that was no big deal & I'm still spending sometime everyday recreating some of my files & bookmarks & getting used to the new  machine..although a lap-top because of my essential tremor condition I can't use either a touch screen or a mouse pad..ergo..need to use a mouse..I've always have used a tailed mouse & am finally getting use the tail-less variety..just a different size & feel & I keep forgetting to turn the dang thing off & have not guess one how long the battery life is..ergo..next time  I'm in the plaza where Staples is (same as Price Chopper & T J Maxx) me thinks I'll stop in there & get a "back-up" moose..with the winter weather here abouts there are times when for a few days it's unsafe for me to walk because of the accumulation of snow..ergo..the back-up mouse..../....other than that has been a quiet week+..just the /usual shopping & online gaming & of course keeping an "eye" on the 2 FB groups where I'm either a mod or an admin..../....was up a little earlier than /usual but it's been  a good day..this AM made a stop at the bank for my "10 day walking around money" & shifted some money around between a couple of my accounts & just about 12:00 a short to pickup a few things at Ollie's & Dollar General..haven' quite decided what use to make of the rest of the day..??..off to figure it out..ergo.."nite all"....[16:05 UTC-5]..../....

..Yesterday afternoon I was done with my online game play..caught up with the everything on the FB groups "The Farthest Side (where I'm a mob) & "May the Far Side be with you (where I'm admin) & that also included the short walk done the hill to the plaza just west of my rooms just picked up a couple of things at Ollie's & Dollar General..took longer than I had thought it would..

Ollie's was packed with pre-Christmas shoppers & it took "forever" to get checked out..or so it seemed to me..& was done with everything by 16:00..thought about posting here..thought again..didn't(obviously)..decided to take the rest of the day off & as we would have said back in the day.."veg-out" & except for a couple of check-ins on my FB groups periodically throughout the evening that's exactly what I did..as a former mechanic I installed my tuckus in my recliner..watched episodes of "Pawn Stars" on the History Channel" & also as we would have said way-back-when.."pigged out"..just a relaxing evening..& "hit the sheets" just after 20:00...../....had a decent night's sleep & was up just after my traditional 04:00..had all my offline morning issues dealt with..had checked both my FB groups & emails & sat down for my morning session of poker on "Replay Poker" & except for getting rivered & losing a bunch of chips on that one hand..not a bad session [[note] free site..no real money at risk..just faux money..playing with "house money as it were}..Now I had decided yesterday not to walk today..rain had been predicted..but what we got was a mid to upper 40s F day..bright sun & only a very light breeze..took one look at that & decided I wasn't going to waste probably the best weather day until next spring in my rooms..had forgotten to get hummus the other day when I was at Aldi..ergo..just after 11:00 was all done with my game play save for the solitaire games I play on "Just Solitaire" & off I went..the hummus..a jug of liquid egg-whites..a couple of very green bananas (which will be just rip enough when there turn comes in a couple of day's to take their place on my 1st meal plate) & a bottle of sparkling fruit flavored water..their supply was picked over & there was only one 1 bottle of the flavors that I like..[shrugs]..back just before 12:00 & even with a break for 2nd meal was all done except for a couple of check-ins on my groups by just before 15:00..I'm off to check the schedule of what's on the "olde boob-tube" tonight but I'm contemplating another evening off..ergo.."nite all"....[15:49 UTC-5]..../....

..I mentioned yesterday that I was planning to take a walk to Big Lots & Aldi either today or tomorrow & although both days promised temperature with windchill around the 32* F mark..the winds today were predicted to be in the 15 mph range & tomorrow in the 10 mph range..because of my essential tremor condition [link] I have balance issues & even though I walk with a cane a strong gust can give me a problem..but after checking the weather forecast for both days..it was a wash..both days forecast were for all intents "carbon copies"..ergo..made the walk this morning..between getting bundled up for the conditions the walk & all was out for the better part of an hour..at least the DPW has finally got  the  sidewalk work completed..but crosswalks I use have been in one state of construction for the better part of a month or more & even the though of this gimpy..grumpy..old codger trying to "J-walk" [link] one of the busiest streets in the small city I live in scares me..ergo..crosswalks with walk lights.. Now according to New York Traffic Regulations..if I'm crossing in a walk lane with the walk light I have the right of way over every vehicle save for a US-Postal truck..no joke..must have something to do with their Creed..all other vehicles have to yield the right-of-way to the pedestrian..well Wilbur..I have so many close calls with peeps turning left off the side-street by the crosswalk I use to go to Aldi..actually had my hand on the left bumper of a econobox [link] when the driver stop..rolled down the window..a rather ditzy millennial chick..with "sorry I didn't see you"..I'm short but not that short..probably on her cellphone [link]..oy vey..now if I walk to Aldi's right around 09:00 on a weekday..on my way back I often encounter one of the right-drive USPS jeeps turning left from the side-street (main post office is located on that street) & the woman driving it always waves me thru & of course I tip my hat to her..go figure...../....didn't make a stop at Big Lots as I had intended..but got the usual fare at Aldi..but as is my habit..had my list with me & didn't look at it & forgot hummus..dummkopf..changed second meal up a bit..a tuna pasta salad I'd made last night..some cheesy bread & warmed up some pre-cooked & breaded shrimp..washed down with a ginger ale..../....still just a few derails to deal with before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....[16:40 UTC-5]..../....

...When I last posted on Sunday the weather for the next two days was predicted to be rainy on Monday & rain/winter mix/snow on Tuesday..well Wilbur..it did rain most of Monday but Tuesday although we did get a dusting of snow over night it was clear most of the day but just a little over 32*F & with a 10+ mph wind..quite bitter but braved the elements & got a few things at Aldi..yesterday was just as cold but bright sun & little wind so went to both Price Chopper & T J Maxx..got back to the rooms.. realized it was time to pickup my "ten day walking around money" at the bank so up the hill & took care of that..been raining all day today so haven't left the warmth of my rooms..tomorrow & Saturday both are forecast to have temperatures in the lower 40's F but winds are predicted to be in the 15 mph range tomorrow & only about 5 mph Saturday..unless I discover I need something urgently will probably wait to Saturday to walk to Big Lots & Aldi..but the weather here abouts is very changeable..the old gag up here is "you don't like the weather..wait 15 minutes..it will probably change..I had an old friend years ago..he pasted about 11 years ago..he was fond of saying that "The weathermen were the only people he knew that were paid for being right..25% of the time"..I always told him he was too optimistic..but as I live just 20 miles of the east end of Lake Ontario..one of the  so called "Great Lakes" between the  USA & Canada..they are in part responsible for much of our weather..[link][I've also put a map in the footer]..../....awoke this morning just before 04:00..I have for the last couple of days & feel like I've finally adjust to  the change from "Daylight Savings Time" back to "Eastern Standard Time"..has always taken me a little time to adjust..but  with the damp conditions of the last several days awoke very stiff & sore & it took me longer than /usual to get my tuckus in gear..had a decent day on "Replay Poker" & finished my Sims&Solitaire play by 15:30..only break was a 45 minutes to prepare & consume my cold plate lunch..finished the salmon salad mentioned in the previous post so once I get this posting wrapped up will probably make either a pasta or potato salad for the next few days..little is left to the completion of my tasks for the day save for my daily shower & taking of my meds & a look-in or three on my FB groups & maybe play a little Mahjong..anyways & ergo.."nite all"....

   So I got finished with my day's online gaming just before 16;00..it's been raining on&off all day & I was hoping to get a walk in today..forecast is for rain..winter mix & snow all day tomorrow..so i took a look outside & it was fairly dark..but no rain..checked the sunset time for today..16:38..oops & dang..I except if it's an emergency never walk after dark..(a) I have very poor night vision & be because of my essential tremor condition [link] I have balance issues & the thought of taking a "bad step" & ending up taking a header isn't a comforting thought..In my case it can also be called familial tremor..if one of your parents has the condition you have a 50% chance of having it as well..my Sis & I both have it..but my Bro doesn't not..but then he has two artificial heart valves..also apparently a genetic condition..from what I was told..your heart valves are supposed to have 4 flaps..his had only 3..given the choice I'd take the  tremors..../....a check of the sunrise/sunset for today showed only 9 hours & 41 minutes of sunlight here & it get worse before it gets better..on December 21st there will be only 8 hours & 53 minutes of sunlight..when I was working day shift years ago..when I left for work in the morning it was still dark & when I left the plant it was dark again..was a good thing that my job supervising shipping & receiving required me to travel between the plant & a satellite warehouse or I probably wouldn't have seen the sun atall for several days..../....anyways have had a very quiet day,,haven't been out of my rooms all day & except for the short trip to the "lobby" tomorrow to pickup a couple of things for breakfast (only do that every other day..& get enough for two days) probably won't be out of the rooms tomorrow either..unless the weather changes..but my winter pantry is full so no need to venture out..../....last night I threw a package of microwavable pasta in the machine..some shallot..green onions..capers..salt ..pepper..dill weed some olive oil mayo & a single serve package of wild caught pink salmon..put the bowl in the frig to cool & had it with my cold plate 2nd meal..turned out extremely well..along with some cheese bread..some good salami..some dried mango & a Doctor Pepper..a very pleasing meal..../....still a few details to iron-out before I take my rest..the /usual shower & taking of the meds & my evening meal..ergo.."nite all"....[16:50 UTC-5]..../....

..Well Wilbur..I've done it again..I haven't posted in 6 days..bad Trollie..no biscuit..been an interesting six days..has been in the mid to lower 50s most days but we've gotten quite a bit of rain..rained heavily both yesterday & today & rain again is forecast for tomorrow..but there were some "holes" in the rain  & managed to get out yesterday to Aldi to pickup some needed food items & today to Dollar General for some supplies I use for my online gaming..I play a free poker site & several solitaire games & a Spade sim..I'm a a stats nerd..I was one before the term "geek" as invented..../....November 11th was Veterans Day here in the USA.. my dad & all of my 4 uncles served in various capacities in World War II..all survived but one of my uncles was wounded,,they are of course all gone now but they all are fondly remembered by me (I've placed a composite photo of them in the footer)..../....I mentioned above about me being a "stats nerd"..Well Wilbur that applies to this blog as well & the Blogger software has great record keeping..although there was a 5 year period when I didn't have internet access may first post was made on..October 29th 2002..& since then although I live in the Northcountry of Upstate New York State..over the 19 plus years only 28% of my "hits" have come from the USA..whilst checking my "hits" stats for the last 7 days I noticed I've gotten many hits from Russia..to you I say welcome..(over the life of this blog 18% of "hits" have come from Russia..that's #2) & I also noticed over the l,ast 7 day's I've gotten two "hits" from Liechtenstein..you are welcome as well..as are all who visit here..../.....There has been some snow in the area here to the east of us at higher elevations..but other that just a few flakes of corn snow also known as graupel(dang..another word spellcheck didn't know)[link]..but the ground was still too warm for it to form any accumulation..but I have no doubt that quite soon we will have a thick carpet of white on the ground hereabouts..../....only a few details to deal with before I take my rest.. another check-in or two on my FB groups..my daily shower & taking of my meds & of course my evening meal..ergo.."nite all"....

   I've been a very bad Trollie again..or is it still..it's been 5 days since I've posted last..bad Trollie..no biscuit..you may have notice that I've changed my time code from UTC-4 to UTC-5..no I haven't moved but at 02:00 this morning the USofA went off "Daylight Savings Time" & I'm no back on "Eastern Standard time..except for nine semesters of college I've lived in and around Watertown NY for the last 55 years & counting...spent the first 18+ years in & around Buffalo NY..yup..moved from the "Lake Effect Snow Belt" off Lake Eire to the "Lake Effect Snow Belt" off Lake Ontario..[shakes his old grey head]..only different is winters in these parts are colder than what they were in Western NY..one day in the early 70's there was a day when the outdoor temperature was -55*F w/50 mph winds..windchill was over -100*F..I was told that frostbite/hypothermia could occur in less than a minute..need-less to say..went nowhere that day..just hung out with my Mrs in our warm..comfortable apartment & watch some TV..only day I recall thatg the city was basically shutdown for the day because of the cold weather..anyways..been a quiet few days..most of my days are..by design rather that chance..I'll be 74 in just over a months time & quite frankly do my best to avoid the drama that modern life tends to bring..nothing out of the /usual has occurred..did find another hot sauce I had never tried before..an italian one..not bad..that brings up  my inventory of different hot sauces to 29 differnt kinds & that doesn't count the dry flakes & ground chilies & other assorted spices..I eat very simply but I like my spices..although I must use discretion..there are days that they don'y like me..or rather my stomach..../....my body awoke by it's internal clock at the usual time..of course that was about 03:00..dang time change..so I rolled back over..caught another "40 winks"[link] & awoke again just a tad before my preferred 04:00 starting time to my day & save for the short walk to the "lobby" to pick up a few things form the breakfast buffer & a quick stroll around the oft-mentioned "loop" have spent the day in my "fortress of solitude"..the /usual look-ins on the two FB groups were I'm either a mod or an admin..a successful session of poker on "Replay Poker" & my daily run of both sims & solitaire games...../....not much remains of the day..just my daily shower & taking of my meds..my evening repast (yes spices & hot sauces will make an appearance)..maybe a little YT before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all""....[17:08 UTC-5]..../....

   I have been a very bad Trollie I haven't posted since October 22nd..on the other hand I've been a very good Trollie..haven't got into any trouble & have just been living the quiet..simple life that I have chosen to live as a gimpy..grumpy..old codger..case in point..rain was predicted for most of the day here in ye olde Northcountry of upstate NY & awoke stiff & sore as I often do on cooler & damp days..well Wilbur..a glance at the local weather & radar came as no surprise to me having resided in this area since the summer of '66..(that's 1966 although on mornings like it feels like 1866)..high temperature today was forecast at 39*F & the over night low at 33*F & a look at the area radar showed that although we weren't predicted to get any snow..it was in the offing for the Tug Hill Plateau just to the south & east of us & the Adirondack Mountains to the east of us here..I guess winter has come to the area early as//usual..I think I've mentioned before driving to church one morning in October thru a little over a foot of snow & another year driving to church one morning in May with maybe 15" of that miserable white stuff..anyways..since I've posted last it's just been the typical for me routine..but thankfully it must be sausage season again..haven't been able to  find any good italian salami for months & just within the last week or so bot T J Maxx &7 Aldi's have gotten in several different varieties.. which have found there way onto a cold plate 2nd meal [link]..also found at T J Maxx some Riga Gold sardines packed in glass & they have made several appearances as well was some sardines in mustard sauce & smoked oysters as well..been stocking my winter pantry with the usually assortment of canned meats & other items..being a walker up here in the winter there are days sometimes a few in-a-row where there is either too much snow or the weather is just to dang cold for me to venture out..although when I was working the shipping dock it was nor usual for me to be in the yard with the windchill@-40*F..but this old codger if it's below 0*F I'm staying in my rooms..besides..Aldi & Price Chopper deliver..../....got everything that's needs doing today done..save for my shower & meds & evening meal..the USA Network is showing "Shooter" one of my fave flicks just after 17:00 local time so I'm off..ergo.."nite all".....[16:52 UTC-4]..../....

   As i mentioned in yesterday'as post (yes I'm actually posting two days-in-a-row)..I had my regular 6th month check-up with the doc today & had scouted the alternate route twixt my rooms in the hotel I live in to the doc's office because the city DPW has the section of sidewalk I normally would  use all torn-up & fenced off..decided with a wee bit of caution was doable..well Wilbur..it was raining when I awoke this morning (had over slept a tad) & although it has stopped the grass was still quite wet & there were a few downhill/side-hill stretches in the route I had planned..ergo..a wee bit of caution because extreme caution & diligence..so had planned to start out about 08:20 but decided to leave around 08:10..made the trek at a snails pace but got there on time & in one piece..went through the exam..had bloods draw & got the thumbs up from the doc & an appointment in 6 months time..I have to admit that being 73 years old & 74 is just around the corner in December I do approach my visits to the doc with a little apprehen-sion..I had been feeling pretty good of late but then..??..so it is with a certain sense of relief that I'm experiencing this afternoon ..since I was passing by Aldi on the other-side of the street decided to "pop" over for a few items..now I couldn't get to the button to activate the walk light but traffic was light & I know the sequence well so off I went..last time there had forgotten to get mini-naan bread..got that a bottle of worcestershire sauce..a couple of bottles of sparkling water & when looking through the cheeses discovered they had gotten in some small "bricks" of feta cheese..they had had just the crumbles which I find too dry so got an 8 oz.(227g) piece..feta is one of my favorite cheeses & I use it when I have it in my evening rustic egg-white frittata..the whole trip to doc & Aldi took only 70 minutes & as I had played some extra solitaire games last night to "buy" me some time today..except for 3 games of Crescent I had my day's play done by just after 12:00..watched a little "Paw Patrol" whilst enjoying my "cold plate" mid-day meal..took the short walk down the hill to Ollie's & Dollar General..just the usual fare..back to the rooms & played three games of "Crescent"..so my game playing for the day is complete..will check the evening TV schedule to see if anything is worth my time & maybe "kick around" the net for awhile..just my nightly routine of shower & meds & my evening meal remain of things that must be done..ergo.."nite all"....*[16:48 UTC-4]*..../....

   Well its been 6 days since I last posted (Bad!! Trollie..no biscuit) & the sidewalk is still tore-up..well at least they have the forms into pour the new slabs but that been done for a couple of days & according to the advanced weather report should weather tomorrow & Saturday & the rain for at least  part of the day for the next 10 days or so..anyways I hope they get the concrete poured before the snow flies..now here's my immediate problem..I have my regular 6th month check-up with the doctor#08:45 tomorrow..& you get three guess & you'll only need one..which sidewalk do I normally use to get there?..oy vey..so I took a little recon walk just before sitting done to write this posting to figure out if there was a safe way to get there without having to walk in the street..what I would only do as a last resort..the idea of walking on one of the busiest streets in the small city I live in even@ 08:30 in the morning is something I would rather not attempt..did have a reasonable way that does entail a little "off-roading" so if I'm careful shouldn't be a problem..[knock wood}..I do have some experience..while in college I competed in cross-country & at the time our home course was ranked the toughest college cross-country course in the Northeastern USA..in the western foothills of the Pocono Mountains..maybe 400 flat yards out of 4.6+ miles..on the other hand that was 52 years ago this Autumn..ergo..I will endeavor to be very cautious...../....over the last free days I have final found both at T J Maxx & Aldi an assortment of salami sausages..whole not sliced..haven't been able to find them recently so bought about 4 different varieties  & have  been enjoying them thinly sliced for my second meal..a long with a roll..a few olives & a potion of a "room-made" tuna pasta salad..what is commonly referred to as a "cold plate lunch"..have been enjoying them greatly..../....as I mentioned above I have my regular check up with the doctor tomorrow..have been feeling pretty good of late so don't anticipate any problems but than I am nearing my 74th  year on this rock we call Earth & lets face it..the clock is ticking & none of us now when we might pass our "use by date:"..dang..enough with the serious talk..have all but everything that needs done today done..just my meal & my shower & meds to attend to before I take my rest..ergo.."nite all"....[16:59 UTC-4]..../....

 *[16:30 UTC-4]*[On MT-Today's Playlist]*..what a day..checked the weather this AM..rain most of the day tomorrow & Sunday..checked my supply of bananas..dang..now normally that's a short walk out the main door of the hotel I live in..across the front lawn of the back I have my accounts in..cross a side street..cross Arsenal at the walk light & into Aldi's parking lot..easy.. breezy..lemon squeezy..however..they have the side walk on the north side of the street ripped up from just past the hotel driveway..past the side-street & the cross walk p ast Denny's to the office buildings where my doc'\s office is..I truly hope that's fix before next Friday because I have my 6th month checkup scheduled..[finger crossed..knock wood}..so today's quest for the wild banana required an alternate route..out the  back door & take the route by way of the oft-mentioned "loop" to the corner of Western &Arsenal..the next available crosswalk..this old man ain't going to attempt J-walking the busiest street in town..crossed to the south side & to Aldi..passing the hotel on the way..best guess an extra 3/8th to a 1/2 mile..1-way..got the usual fare & they still had a wedge of the artisan sheep's milk/goat's milk cheese that I enjoy greatly so grabbed another wedge..had a nice chat with one of the kids that works there..(now if I was 40 years younger....) & then re-traced my steps back to the hotel & my rooms..../....the last few day's since my last posting has been uneventful save of course for the construction or more accurately the destruction of the side walk & the blocking of the crosswalk I use on a regular basis...but one way to describe the seasons here in the Northcountry of old New York State is that we only real have two seasons..Winter & Construction..the latter has been greatly curtailed with the CV-19 restrictions..usual from Spring to Fall the hotel I live is is full of construction workers whom are working on one or another of the multiple projects in the area..just the /usual shopping trips..a few walks around the "loop" & of course my on-line gaming & "riding herd" on both the "Farthest Side" & "May the Far Side be with you"..FB group[s where i'm a mod on the former & an admin on the latter..some days it takes up a little more time than I would like but in the long run it's worth the effort...../.....thinking about raking the short walk down the hill to Dollar General before my evening meal & my daily shower/meds routine..ergo.."nite all"....[17:07 UTC-4]..../....

 *[16:25 UTC-4]*[On MT-Today's Playlist]..dang..it's been seven days since my last post & in my defense..I have no defense..very bad Trollie..no biscuit..the weather has been quite calm & cooler of late & with all changes of the seasons my damaged joints have been protesting quite vigorously over the last  few days & as quite often happens my G I tract has joined in the "fun & I've been experiencing some minor but irritating issues there as well..It's "Columbus Day" here in the USA..a federal holiday..but over the last several years Columbus' reputation have fallen in to a state of disrepute that it is passing by without hardly a notice..in the past many stores would hold "Columbus Day Sales" & I've seen nor heard of one in this area..my only really memory of Colum-bus Day (a Monday holiday)..several years ago..the day before driving to church that Sunday morning thru about 15" of new fallen snow..Winter comes early some years..nothing of particular import has occurred over the intervening week since my last posting..the usual shopping..online game play & trying to "ride herd" on my FB groups.."The Farthest Side" where I'm a mod has been quiet.."May the Fat Side be with you" has been any & everything but quiet..but  over the last day or two has settled down a little..disagreements have at times degraded into very pointed personal attacks & that cannot be tolerated..ergo..some members are now former members..it seems that ye olde concept of agreeing to disagree is no longer  in vogue...../.....one sad thing..the passing of an old friend..my wallet..now I frankly don't remember when I bought it..but based on the style of it it certainly wasn't in this century..but it had seen it's better days a couple of years ago..but when things started dropping out of it  I decided to get a new one..decided to look at T J Maxx..they didn't have anything I liked but did find a bottle of artichokes..a tin of herring in mustard sauce & a tin of hot pepper flakes..& then of to Dollar General..found Mossy Oak Tri-fold wallet & a couple of apple pocket pies..a typical shopping trip for me..go out to find a specific item & end up with a sling  bag full of things I didn't know I needed until I saw them in the store(s) for sale..well at least this time I did end up with what I had originally go out to get..hasn't always happen that way..tomorrow will be my 886 month birth day..well as of 08:00 AM..what a minute since we are currently still on "Daylight Savings Time" here in the USA &  the clocks are set ahead an hour..better wait until 09:00 to celebrate..../....little is left of what I'd like to do before I take my rest..but still  a few things remain..ergo.."nite all"....[17:11 UTC-4]..../....
