Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

i accidentally stayed up until midnight last night, it was not on purpose, not to wish in and greet the new year, it just happened, and probably a good thing, as i rarely read the local paper, i was unaware that they were having a big fireworks deal at midnight, a fact which my cats highly dislike, and i'm sure they would have found a way to wake me for comfort if i had been asleep......when my daughter was quite young....3 or 4 years old she got things a little crossed up and used to refer to fireworks....as firemenworks.....
awoke just before nine and just took it easy this morning, needed to get batteries and had a gift card to borders so went to the mall and big lots.......had a spinach stromboli for lunch in one of the shops and got a couple of books........( a brief pause while trollie answers phone)..........."The Soul of Rumi" and "Kabbalah 365"....the last is kind of neat......there is a brief reading each day from the kabbalah.......and the ecstatic poems of rumi have interested me for a while and i just happened to see the collection and why not
call was from nephew Nate, it seems that i have an invite for dinner at my sister's........really had nothing planned and as i couldn't decide what to have for dinner.........why not

(obviously spell check blew a fuse on stromboli, kabbalah, and rumi......but how the heck it suggested "gabble" for "kabbalah".......all i can is oy vey........can't wait to see what it does with yiddish)
