Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

[note: it's a little spooky what will sometimes raise to the surface of the quagmire in what is laughingly referred to as my mind, or  at least what once was my mind]
a memory from many years ago:
when i was in my early 20's i used to run 20K races......this one was the "Sauerkraut Festival Run" hay no joke....run  in Phelps New York......every where you look below that little town, were fields of cabbages......
To continue, i was running with this guy Dom, who ran for Rochester A.C..........on the corner where we turned was this old Hotel/bar .....probably built in the late 1800s........anyways that had a wrap around front porch complete with rocking chairs filled with beer drinking good old boy farmers........
so as we past one of the guys on the porch yells "What you guys doing running away from your wives?"
now Dom was a bit of a  wise ass, and always had a quick come back..his reply was
" No we're running away from your wive"
said I "Are you crazy"
said  Dom "don't worry we can out run them"
said I "Dom they have pickup trucks"
[ Dom's reply has been deleted.......i don't use that kind of language here"
fortunately  they didn't follow us.........
