Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

it has been an interesting day so far......actually at the time of this writing and interesting 8+ hours...so i thought i'd take the time to write now....rather then later while everything is fresh in my mind....nothing earth shaking to be sure just nutty, strange maybe, and mundane.....but interesting to me
phone woke me at a little after 8 AM ( give me a break people i'm on vacation here)...it was work and they had a problem...which i didn't seem to be able to solve over the phone and since i needed to go over to pick up my check i spent a half an hour getting everyone on the same page....and then cashed my check and got gas.....at a record for me $2.14+ per gallon.....
decided to play golf and headed out to chaumont bay to play bay breeze, a course i've never played and when i got there, there was no one around....and not having ever played there before didn't feel like just playing first and trying to find some one to pay later....decided to head for clayton by away of lafargville....hoping to try LA golf (again i've never played there but heard it wasn't bad and was near lafargville......which is just a bit bigger then a blink and plum town....you do know what a blink and plum town is.....you blink and you're plum out of town (rim shot)).....figuring if i couldn't find LA golf i'd play one of the courses in clayton or alex bay.....so i drive through lafargville on 180...no sign, no golf course so i decided not to look further but just stay on 180 until i got to route 3 and decided which way from there, and then about 4 or 5 miles out of town guess what i find LA golf....
really had not expectations of what it would be like, course is only 10 years old and i understand the ownership changed a few years back....but was pleasantly surprised...greens were in real good shape considering it's fall in the northcountry...they had a deal going so i rode......nice course.....but when i went to the trunk realized i had my "short course" set and no 3 wood....well i survived( full account of round can be found here, yah...yah i know you don't care...but i don't care that you don't care)
took the long way home, colors are in the trees....not prime yet but very nice..we've had a couple of years of pretty sad fall colors and this one looks to be a real good one
stopped and got take out for lunch....watched a little tube and the phone rings.....work again.....simple problem...simply solved....
about 2:30PM decided to go out to the mall and just do a little window shopping....but as i was getting into the car up come two mormon missionaries.....now i have had a few well i guess you could say unfriendly encounters with MM's before but this duet was female of all things.....now that isn't something you didn't see until just recently......had a very interesting conversation which after they left i discovered was about one hour.......i didn't change their minds and of course they had no chance of changing mine but it was very enlightening....
so just a few observations from the mall:
1) i couldn't help but notice how ethnic watertown has become.....i for one love diversity and thing it's great but when we moved here 30+ years ago it was virtually all white bread ( ok so they was a large loaf of italian bread there too).......
2) three 20 something guys walking together, all on cellphones but only one is talking....the other two can't seem to make a connection.....(trollie wonders if all three are trying to call the same girl)
3) to the young man in the video game store...it is really not necessary for you to play with your girl friend's butt in public......yes i agree it is a beautiful example of a female hind quarters, and yes i can see why you can't leave your hands off it.....but in the middle of the mall.........oh please
..................
oh and one other thing........the NY state law on right on red is you stop and then make the turn if safe......and it isn't safe when trollie has a green arrow for a left hand turn in front of you.....i've got to get that grenade launcher mounted on my car.......
