Watertown, NY, USA . "Public Square" (vintage, date unknown) but the monument is honoring veterans of the American Civil War so the date of the image is late 1800s

[Now Playing: "Hellfighters" [a John Wayne movie[watch/listen]]
Snow is forecast for Sunday afternoon through into mid-day Monday..maybe a max accumulation of 6" or so..but the high temperature both days is in the mid-30s F..but I noticed today when I took a walk just after 14:00 that the ground after the cold the last few days is frozen..at least the first couple of inches so at least some of the snow probably will accumulate on the ground..but Winter does come early in the Northcountry..
Decided to take a late afternoon/early evening walk now during the Summer time that's usually between 17:00 & 18:00...but the sunset today was at 16:27:19..so the late afternoon/early evening walk was rescheduled for just after 14:00..just 9 hours and 9 minutes of sunlight today..and growing shorter everyday..walk up to the convenience store..had thought about going there from Price Chopper yesterday..just a short detour on the way home..but when I changed my plans and added Aldi to yesterdays walk..I went in the other direction..could have waited to early next week but with the snow forecast decided to do it today..came back by way of the lobby and got my daily toffee coffee..
The hotel part of the facility I live in has been a "zoo" the last couple of day's..fully booked with the horde of bargain hunters and the sales going on at the mall and the plazas in the area..mostly Canadian shoppers..we're just 30 mils or so from Canada..straight down I-81 [part of the interstate highway system [link]]..and if they stay in the US for 48 hours they can take 400$ worth of merchandise back to Canada duty-free..part of the NAFTA accords..
Just a few things left to attend to so will say my good-nights..
